I welcome the Malaysiakini report that the PM has okay-ed the setting up of a Royal Commission.
The three man sitting in the three-man-panel apparently have all agreed to the setting up of a Royal commission. I salute this panel for making this decision , in the benefits of the country and future generations.
The “March to Freedom’ by the lawyers has not been in vain.
I hope that this royal commission will have the full power to review the whole judiciary system, especially its independence and the criteria of promotion within the system. Not just to investigate the Lingam tapes, though that is equally important to get to the bottom of the rots.
The government should consider very carefully the people to be appointed to this commission. Its members must be respectable people, of high integrity, preferably with no past or present political affiliation. The members must not only be fair, but must seen to be fair, with no stains on their shirts whatsoever, figuratively speaking. This will silence all the critics when the commission makes its report.
This is indeed a good start. By bringing back an independent judiciary, the government is effectively putting back in place a system of check and balance. Anyone aggrieved by government or political action can seek redress from an independent court.
A good start on the road back to good governance!

Yes good news Doc.
But they have no choice.
Given any options…you can bet the will use other methods to UMNO’s advantage.
Election time near…another photo showing small group ..no ore than 15 small time chinese business people against the walk….saying loosing money in their small business and we walkers are creating unneccessary tensions.
To chinese…..earning a living…making money..peace most important. UMNO and MCA sure know how to use the newspapers to talk things that selfish chinese love to hear. It’s l;ike that…all 50 years…give some goodies before election……….then after election.. elections..see what happen.
Hope chinese open their eyes and hearts to the country…and for their children’s true freedom….by not allowing UMNO and MCA bullshitting dirty politics keep winning their votes.
Have the chinese not suffer enough to understand what’s going on in the country?

Giving the broom to non performers.
Yes to Royal Commission.
Education talks…how to get better.
Three great news to get public ….to forget the historical walk.
Then loads and loads of one sided news against the walk…and twisted the significant of supporting the King to say walkers are dragging the Royalties into supporting them and into politics.
People and politics cannot be seperated.. We are ruled by politicians and the people are the royalties subjects…..so there is a fine line..and UMNO is using it to their advantage……making the walkers carrying no political parties banners look stupid. Is that not a low down tactic?
But under Pak Lah…in a way…TDM is right….totally no democracy….

The talk of Salleh Abas about the Judicial Rot was a good one. Everyone of us should listen to his talk to know personally from Salleh Abas himself about it in video clip posted in http://malaysiakini.tv . The talk was an inspiring one and please download it for those unable to access to internet.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry to be set up should take into account Salleh Abas’s view on the subject matter.
Malaysian judicial is really on a dire state of rot as even before RCI is set-up, another scandal was revealed by Mr. Wee Choo Keong about police report made by the very own brother of the senior lawyer involved in the tape released by Anwar Ibrahim.
Well, there is still hope to the rescue of judiciary system. Hope that RCI will clean up once and for all these scandals swept under carpet so far.
Malaysia really need to go back to meritocracy, or else, I can’t imagine what next……..

Govt think they can please the educated walkers like….. 800 lawyers….now agreeing to Royal Commission..to please the lawyers walkers..supported by 1200 Malaysians…. in protest….and yet….more than 40,000 of us ….very few are lawyers …walking in protest….and call us….unlawful walkers…opposition parties members….this and that.
It looks like their simple minded brains are firstly afraid of the educated Malaysians….foremost… the University students.
Good news is majority Malaysians are now hav8ing basic education and can think for themselves…and they can see the hypocrisies of the politicians and ministers.
They are afraid…..very afraid…so out come the broom awards for non productive performers in the govt……and better education system on the making…….nice items for readers to read…..and lots of anti news on the rally…not one from oppositions in the papers.

hkenmacao, i fully agree with u.
The rot, monsterball, actually started in the 80s. To build somthing takes years, to destroy the good culture takes only a short time.
Onc the rotten culture is in place , it take yrs to undo the damage.
This royal commission will be a very good first step. Let’s be more positive and waiit for the outcome of this commission.

I think that Malaysians MUST remember that the RCI comes after great pressure has been piled on the BN government.
Therefore, the fact that it came into being is no great consolation to anyone in this country!
If the government is TRULY concerned about the state of the country, especially the judiciary, it should have convened the RCI straight away instead of trying to foist the three man panel on us! They were trying to get away with it! Fortunately, they couldn’t!
The main problem with the electorate is that it is very easily appeased and has a VERY SHORT MEMORY!!
Malaysians should see the BN government for what it is! Never cast another vote for them.
