Latest news from Malaysiakini has reported that Chua Soi Lek has resigned from all his positions in the party and government .
I have in my noon posting praised him for coming forward to admit his mistake and asked him to do the next honourable thing , that is to resign from his ministerial post.
He did the honourable thing. He is an honourable person, even though he has committed a wrong act.
I feel sad that he has resigned but this is his only choice .
Let his downfall be a lesson to all top as well as aspiring politicians. Be honest, uphold moral and ethical standard. Never never cheat in life. Of course this is easier said than done, but if you aspire to be a leader , you have no choice but to set a very high standard, because this is what is expected of you.
Let his resignation set a precedence for all political wrong-doers. Admit mistake and resign – not to cling on to positions despite evidence of wrong-doings.
If by his resignation, he helps to nurture a culture of accountability and responsibility, he would have done a better service to the nation and people than all his years of holding political office.

my heart goes out to his family who have to face this very public expose of his indiscretion…at least he owns up and did the honourable thing by resigning…something of a rare breed in malaysian politics

Yes Doc….He did the honourable thing….but I wonder what makes him to talk the opposite in the first place. I guess..he needed more signals…and majority want him to resign. He actually do not care about public opinions. He said that.
I guess Pak Lah and Ka Ting both have hinted to him…..not to make it more difficult for himself and family…as all those hypocrites will force him to resign also…or face loosing much more votes for BN and UMNO.

monsterball, sorry I blocked out the name you mentioned because I think since Chua has resigned, we should not go witch hunting anymore.
As regards why he changed his stand and resign, I have a feeling he was given false promise that once he admitted, he would be forgiven. He was probably tricked iinto admitting it. BUt what actually happened is academic now.
What is important is to expose those behind this recording. How low they stooped.
Politics is dirty only because of these people who stoop to so low levels that they are no better than animals.

if the DVD never distributed we’d never know . It maybe his personal relationship BUT when comes to public service (politicians…..etc) such act will sting lay people’s emotion . It maybe forgiven in western culture but may not in asian culture . I regret losing a capable minister.
Moving forward , i’d like to see corrupt leaders to come forward and resign as well !

I understand you need to block it out Doc….but I learned that from MT blog.
Someone who knows him well must have set him up twp years ago….as an insurance for that someone’s future in the same party. As he is favoured by PM and getting more to become MCA future President….the must be stopped…That’s how I read it. we see that in UMNO….why be surprised it is same in MCA or even Gerakan.
Malaysian politics is low class and dirty…..not by opposition parties..but by UMNO and BN……getting worst and worst each year.

Either he quit or getting fire, after all, why P.M want a hypocrite and adulterer in the cabinet, it will taint the cabinet image,it has nothing to do with he did something brave or honorable, it is the reality of being a member of cabinet. Malaysians do not need his service, we have a lot more better man in Malaysia.

Why is csl apologized to Najib n Ong? because he did not get permission from them before he showcase his huge “manpower”. He should do that to his wife n children, not other men. it is so unreal….
