Chua Soi Lek did the honourable thing to admit his mistake and apologise to the people (refer to the news in Malaysiakini). This is of course a departure from the behaviour of many Malaysian politicians. Most of these politicians would have denied and would instead adopt a “I am holier than you” type of attitude when faced with accusations of wrong doing.
By coming forward and admitting his mistake, Chua has shown much courage. His action has also saved the nation, his party and the supporters much pain and anguish, not to mention the waste of resources that would have to be committed to investigate the authenticity of the DVD had he not come forward to admit it.
I hope his action will set an example of accountability and in future other politicians and civil servants would do the same honourable thing to admit their mistakes.
I sympathise with Chua but my deepest sympathy is reserved for his wife and his family; they are the real innocent victims in this case. For their sake, I hope that the perpetrators behind the recording will be found and charged in court, no matters how high a position/s they are holding.
Adultery is morally wrong and legally an offence. However, in this case, perhaps we should forgive him as a person, and accept him back into the community, instead of hounding him and his family incessantly.
Having said that, I still think that the next honourable thing for Chua to do is to resign from his ministerial post.
The reason is very simple – how is he going to preach virtues as a leader and minister to his subordinates and staff in all the hospitals in the country, without sounding like a hypocrite? He has , unfortunately, lost the moral high ground and his believability by this indiscreet act of adultery.

I will be more interested in the ‘real motives’ of those behind the filming of a ‘personal and private act’ between two consenting adults!
I hope our Bukit Aman operatives will get the ‘dalangs’ behind this episode.
And there is enough penal santions in our Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) to deal with this adventure of theirs! Shalom!
As for Dr Chua – I feel rather sad for him for he was a dedicated and proactive Health Minister!

Dr George, I agree with you that Chua is among the better and proactive health minister.
I am sure the motive behind is to kill him off politically since general election is near and this is one sure way of not letting him be nominated.
As i have posted in my earlier post , the person/s behind this must be more or less of equal ranks. I also hope that no triad is involved.

It is very sad….but a blessing in disguise.
One of the best Minister is him
I again recalled how he came to the defence of the singer Nawee…’nagarakuku”…and after his speech…all UMNO member shut up…case closed.
And under him…the Health Ministry did see much improvements.
Having said that…I agree with Doc….he should resign…..as all proven with sex scandals have done so…here and all over the world. It is a matter of principles in life.
Yes….pity the wife and family…..but I guess…being a politician family and doing well…..one needs to expect jealousies.
I will not be surprise the culprit is within MCA and not from any opposition party at all!!!
Time and time again…we do know such things do happen amongst so call ..good friends…not from foes.
However….if UMNO and MCA is
cocksure he can win the Labis seat again….which look like Chua’s confidence is being exposed….those guys will do anything to back him out…if no sure substitute is found. But if Chua do not resign…he has something we all have never seen of him before….a thick skinned and selfish MCA politician ….who is infact doing a good job in his Ministry to straighten his position within BN and MCA and if by chance he may become the President of MCA…this type of person will never serve the country sincerely.
It’s a disease in BN and UMNO.

I will like to assume since this is an Islamic country, people will be less forgiven in any scandle involve sexual activities, since the youngster dating in the public place can be harassed legally by those religious department snoops n framed as indecent conduct or adultery.

it should be both ways . As wht LKS stated in M’siakini that the ‘person’ shd
disipline himself as well and not just ask those lower rank to disipline themselves .
This is wht we call ‘EQUAL JUSTICE’ . But for those bunch of jokers it’s called ‘sedition’ and ‘illegal’ !!
