Have not been posting for a couple of days, since I am busy moving around the different areas and attending both BN and opposition ceramahs in Klang valley, in order to see for myself how people are going to vote this election.
Been talking to strangers and acquintances of all races.
From my own observation, I feel that most Chinese Malaysian would be voting for opposition in KL PJ areas but Malay votes are still solidly with BN. Majority of Indian Malaysian voters too would vote like their Chinese counterparts.
So any area with more than 70% NonMalay Malaysian voters would be problem areas for BN, whereas areas with more than 40% Malay Malaysian would still be safe for BN.
Areas like PJU would be a big big problem.

Went to super market to buy a certain brand of instant noddle (Sedap white packs) for my daughter, but the whole self was empty. There were still some other coloured packs left, but these are not as sedap as the white packs. Then I saw someone buying tins and tins of canned food, so I ventured to ask why he bought so much. He replied: “Just in case”
Some neighbours are buying rice and so on, just in case.
I think this is really stupid because I believe this is going to be a peaceful election , and why scare yourself off like that?
It is really sad that after 39 years, people still remind each other of the tragic event of May 13.
I am sure the people are much better educated and level headed now, the income level of the different races in urban levels are mch better, and everyone would have more to lose if any violence breaks out. SO that itself is a strong deterrent for any violence. There is really no need to panic.
Vote whoever you think can do a better job this time. Whether that fellow can deliver what he promises, can speak out on issues and is sincere in helping the people, is effective in representing the people. That should be the main consideration.
In any case, please come out to vote. This is your right as a citizen. This is the time to show the world that we are the boss.

I was also shocked over the Malaysiakini report that EC has reversed its decision in using indelible ink. I do not buy the explanation, please let us know what is happening?

1) ppl scared not because they remember May13 BUT it’s the politicians whom kept reminding (i mean scaring) the ppl about May13 . Cheap political tactic .
2)EC simply proofing why BERSIH shd exist in the first place.
3)Ppl think they can vote anyone BUT politician (ruling ones) think ppl shd ONLY vote for them. We’ve came across numerous press statements from them giving ‘warning’ NOT to vote against them else lose representation .

Dr. Hsu, if there is any truth in your observation that ‘so far regarding Malay votes are still solidly with BN’, then we may see PKR will not win big in this coming GE. This is because the seats PKR contested are mainly ‘mixed’ seats with Malay majority slightly above 40%-50%.
If this in fact turn out to be true, then I will feel quite disappointed because this will be a set-back for non-race politics. Just look at PKR candidates, they have good mix of all races. I have high respect to these non-Malay PKR candidates especially the Chinese candidates.
I believe all these PKR candidates are working very hard to convince the Malay voters that they (ie Malay voters) should in fact give their votes to Barisan Rakyat. Just honestly ask yourselves, my Malay friends :-
a) how many of you consider yourselves as ‘successful’ under BN rule?
b) would you able to compete with foreign land?
c) do you agree with the way BN handle problems faced by Malaysia?

On the other hand , we have PM-SonInLaw dinasty , wide range of corruption , insecure neighbourhood , price rice ….etc.
Which side is heavier in the ‘dacing’ ?
It’s time to get out of cocoon and look at a bigger picture !

as for MIC , somewhat predicted around 7 out of 12 candidates might lose .
Based on some feedback , in Penang , chinese professionals are behind opposition and chinese businessmen are behind BN . Easily 80-85% of PG Indians are behind opposition . Malays solidly with BN .

Series of events happened lately like body snatch,places of worship torn down, cross desecration, force religion allegiance got no response from BN, not at all surprise a bit what Doc. found out among non Malay voters, enough is enough for many peace loving Malaysians. May 13th is always mentioned by BN to inject fear among Malaysians especially N.M to vote for MCA n MIC, this is not something new in Malaysia.

Is it wise to say that since we are a democratic country comprising of multi-races, and one race is not in the majority of a ruling government, then that race is considered not to represent as a voice in the country.
Is this consider racial segregation ?
They should do more good than hate as a good
moral example is to win back the lost racial
support in the next generral election if they lost in this election. And please don’t create a wider
gap of hatred.
Leaders do not fear to lose or win if they are sincere to their constituients without any sign of discrimination. Only their conscience is insincere
that instill their fears and worries.
Since we are all citizens of a country we have the right to choose the right party or right person.
Formerly Gerakan was an opposition party and was given a chance to show their ability in governing Penang. So they won in Penang.
So, Now and Now an opposition parties
or may be called ” pointer parties ”
should be given a supporting vote to give
them a try, just like formerly Gerakan party.
If they are not sincere for these 5 years, then they will be voted out after another
general election.
If we are all a Truly Malaysian then there is no need to mention of races like, Chinese, Malays, Indians,Bumiputras, High class races, native people, Makma etc. These are for certain identity
purposes and not to disregard as a non Malaysian.

then all hell will break loose. DAP is going to hold Penang’s progress n development to get in par with their Kelantan PAS buddy, so that every chinese n indian Malaysian will have to suffer like the non muslims in Kelantan, vote wisely, Penangites, don’t throw your future away.

After lengthy discussion on your article ‘Race and noracialism’, it is just too bad that many of the commentators here still think ‘racially’.
This ‘racially’ thing has deep rooted in all of us and of course, not easy to up-root it. This is exactly the mentality of those BN and those support BN. Comment like there must be Chinese, Indian representation in the cabinet does not has any meaning at all. If MCA and MIC really represents Chinese and Indian respectively, then, by right, there will be no issue of ‘lack of Chinese school’ and ‘Hindraf’. So, who is to be blamed for this? To me, it is the voters who support BN to be blamed because of they still think ‘racially’.
That is why I wish everyone of us to think seriously what kind of Malaysia we want. We cannot have the thinking that only a Chinese can take care of Chinese interest. Just look at PKR, which ideology is of ‘multiracial’, put up an impressive line up of candidates in this coming 12th GE. People like Tian Chua, Paul Leong, Elizabeth Wong are not racists. My view is that we should support them this coming GE so that racial thinking can be ‘up-rooted’ in future.
I sincerely hope the Malays, whose votes are crucial to PKR and Barisan Rakyat, to vote wisely tomorrow. Just look at the questions I posed to you earlier and answer them with your conscience, to vote or not to vote Barisan Rakyat.

A true Malaysian, I agree fully with your view that we should not think of race anymore.
Perhaps in all the forms used by public and private sector, the race column should be banned by law. It is sufficed to just say we are Malaysians.
If a Malay Malaysian can effectively represent the interest of all Malaysians, then we should all vote for him. Same goes for others. Whether there is chinese or Indian representation in the government will then become academic and not important.
I hope after this GE, the ruling BN will seriously think of disbanding race-based politics.
The world is very different from 50 yrs ago. We must move on as a people and a nation.

A True Malaysian: I strongly agree with the statement that ‘Only the Malays can cure Malaysia of the Umno/BN malaise’. Malays, being the majority race of the country, are needed to lead Malaysia out of the race based politics played by BN. Malaysia cannot go far and compete with the rest of the world if majority of them are still hinged on a Ketuanan Melayu mentality make famous by Umno.
We can see the trend of this shift in mentality among the Malays. It is really heart-warming to see Rocky Bru supports Jeff Ooi, Zorro supports Chegu Bard, Haris Ibrahim and Raja Petra help out in DAP ceramah. I believe these individuals do not regard themselves as Malay, Chinese or Indian, but as a true Malaysians that will protect every Malaysian’s rights.
I am tired of BN’s brand of racial politics. I sincerely hope everyone of us can put a stop to this and I pray that the Malays can lead us towards true sense of multi-racial politics in Malaysia.

GE results so far shows that PKR has strong supports from all races. DAP & PKR are working well in Penang and they can form the next government in Penang.
Bravo to multi-racial politics in Malaysia. The sign is promising.
