    I hope Obama wins the Democratic ticket and be elected as President. I read he will be the first Afro American man… to be President…if elected.
    Americans are poor in history!!
    Abraham Lincoln was black!!
    And one needs to listen to Clinton and Obama speeches.
    Obama ideas are fresh…more sincere….direct to the point…and Clinton has a touch of cunningness…which if…I am an American citizen…I will not trust her at all.
    Obama should win by at least 5% more than Clinton…no need recount…like Bush and Al Gore.

    USA is a truly democratic country in our world today, its constitution does not discriminate its citizen from running for the highest office of the land regardless of race, religion and gender, where Malaysia has a lot to learn from,where its racist constitution only allow one race to hold highest office in state n federal level, where its government has the nerve to tell UN it is practicing “Democracy”.

    jeff,

    the reason why I put up this photopost is that I want to tell Malaysian that in US, anyoe can be a presidential candidate, regardless of sex, ethnic origin, color, religion and so on.

    The day someone can put up such a post about Malaysia, I will be a very happy man ( say, A Malay Lady is running neck to neck with an Indian Man for the post of PM of Malaysia, that would really be good.)

    Dr. Hsu , you are an idealist, but i doubt it going to happen in our life time. If you look at the constitution of Malaysia, it is perfectly legal to discriminate against other races n other religions in term of holding high office in Malaysia, just see the tussle of MB in Perak is a fine example, it is almost impossible for it to happen in this racist run country.

    USA is a totally different story,their government really live up to their promises to all its citizens regardless of race or religion, no playing with word or phrase in the constitution like UMNO government.

    First class nation with a first class mind set,a truly democratic country as it claims .

    I read some of the comments from Malaysian blogs criticizing USA racism, human right violation, terrorist detention in Guantanamo camp etc , can not stop thinking some of them can be so arrogance, they can not even see own stack in their eye but want to condemn USA falsely, probably some peoples from this little Islamic country got too much of this racist government propaganda into their heads. Just see how fair and just USA is from this Dr. Hsu post.

    Dear Steven,

    This is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black. You are not suppose to question anything that touch on the sensitivities of the ketuanan policy. You will be lambasted left right and top bottom. Have you forgotten how the CM of Penang was berated by the mere mention of the word?

    I love Malaysia for its diversity of culture , the food, the potpourri of races, the wonderful feeling when Malaysians irregardless of race cheered on our badminton team when they beat the Indon or the China team in the Thomas Cup.

    jeff….From day one…our country hero worship USA ..copying their flag.
    All these 50 years..what UMNO have mastered the arts are…copying America politicians…..how to find a sucker….every minute.
    But American politicians love their country and the people sincerely …and will resign..even for a simple sex scandal.
    Here…UMNO mastered the art….to twist and turn.. facts to fictions…and vice versa…rojak the country…bluffing Malaysians…..for personal gains.
    How to be democratic like that?
    Mahathir even dare to be a dictator….and played the hero game..appealing to all……by taking on USA….with his smart points…to expose the devilish USA government. That’s
    how dirty Mahathir can be ..and still is…accusing others…when he is the dirtiest of all.
    Freedom of speeches…rights and religions..from UMNO???…DREAM ON.
    Just make a complete change in next election is the only hope…to get more freedom for all Malaysians…especially..to the Malays.
    Many do not understand this…but one day they will know…it is good for them to be free and not be controlled to be racialists and hold on to one religion…..no freedom to the minds…..which is the most priceless freedom to all humans.

    We’ll soon have our own “Who will get to the flag first?”

    http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/4/27/nation/20080427165133&sec=nation

    For the sake of democracy, I hope there will be many runners for all positions and none of the ‘negotiated’ contests.

    Having said that, I also hope that all runners will be able to unite under the winners once the outcome is determined.

    Dear Danffodil;
    Agree with your observation, except that USA is not kettle but a very precious n rare silver ware that shine through the world with their high value on humanity and ideal of individual right to freedom and liberty, probably that make this racist UMNO government nervous and resentful of her. That is why this Islamic racist government propaganda machine continue to attack USA in the treatment of captured terrorists in their camp, where as Malaysian ISA political n social activist detainees are let to rot in prison cell without trial.BTW, our badminton team did a great job in Thomas Cup.

    Dear steven,

    Whilst I agree with you that the USA has some of the finest democratic institutions, it is still not perfect or even near perfect.

    Ultimately it boils down to the people within the systems since all systems were created by man, they can be circumnavigated by man.

    Case in point is the present president’s insistence on waging war in Iraq when the whole world didn’t see the necessity of it but yet they went to war and their systems in place could not stop him.

    Systems put in place by man will only function in the way it was intended to if good and honest men will step up to stop those with evil intentions from wrecking it.

    As much as the racists within UMNO are to blame, we too are at fault for not doing our part to stop them.

    Dear Monsterball;
    i am sure you aware of this TDM lash out again in London yesterday on IRAQ, demanding UN to put Bush, Blair and Howard to war crime trial, umnoputra is shameless to his core, no sense of common courtesy,behave badly in a host country, where he is not even an Iraqi. He probably believed he has done no wrong in Malaysia to the minority citizens and is a perfect man as 22 years of PM, all others including the free world leaders have to be subservient to him like the rest of his “rakyat”, It is a wonder why he feels so sad about the elimination of a world murderous dictator and freedom Iraqis are having now. If it is not USA, Iraq is still under a murderous madman rule.

    jeff….that is nothing new. He is a clown….an old clown. Previously…when he spoke as Malaysia’s PM…whole world took notice and admired him.
    Through internet…..whole world knows now…what a big crook he is..and have a full of shit character.
    Just lay back….and trace his 5 years actions and messages…and you will conclude…he is so thick skinned….living in fool’s paradise…having fool’s dreams…and doing all that …hoping …to get arrested ….to shame UMNO. .and save his sons. He knows…no UMNO man dare to touch him…..because he is old….plus…most UMNO people are corrupted like him.
    So ….we all know these facts.
    If making a fool of himself….he can lengthen his life…and be happy….let him do so…as in Malaysia…..he is nothing to Malaysians.
    He is also trying to kill his own UMNO BARU!!
    He loves to play race and divide to rule.
    Let him divide his own race….in UMNO.

    dear romerz:

    I’m doubtful of there is such thing as a “perfect”democracy, but i assure you that USA is the finest political system in place in our world today, where Malaysia can learn a lot from.

    As you probably known already, USA is threaten by former Iraqi murderous dictator after the 9/11 terrorist attacked where 3000+ of their citizens were murdered, so they have to take preventive measure to eliminate the threat. Of course many country is against Iraq war, because they are not the target of the terrorist threat. Put yourself in USA ‘s president shoes, what will you do when you are in his situation? will you wait for another deadly attack in your country and not fulfilling your duty and promises you made to your citizens as a president?

    It’s easy for many countries including this little islamic country to criticizes and condemns USA for taking self defense posture, as they do not suffer any death on 9/11 and not threaten by Saddam.

    Dear steven,

    Since 9/11 and up till the present occupation of Iraq, the basis on which Bush went to war in Iraq has since been proven unfounded.

    Saddam Hussein was never a threat to USA. Yes he was a despicable despot but he never was a threat to USA. In fact Al-Qaeda was an enemy of Saddam. The threat to USA is Al-Qaeda and their associates.

    You have to make a distinction between Afghanistan and Iraq. Actually Afghanistan under the rule of the Taliban gave refuge to Al-Qaeda not Iraq.

    It was after the fall of Saddam and the inability of the new Iraqi government and US forces to control the country that Al-Qaeda appeared in Iraq.

    It has now been proven that Bush misrepresented his case for going to war in Iraq and played on the fears of Americans which brings us back to the American democratic institutions.

    All institutions can be circumnavigated if you have a willing audience and a frightened one. If you have someone of influence determined and prepared to go to great lengths to get what they want, no institution in this world will stop that unless it is manned by equally determined people.

    I can give you more examples of ‘imperfection’ of American democratic institutions but I think our time would be better served if we discuss about the imperfect systems we have in our country without copying others but ‘guiding’ them along to evolve with our own unique characteristics.

    Dear romerz;

    Agree with you on bush administration playing a big part in it, even the congress buying into his “WMD” claimed, but remember that, many Americans are frustrated too because of his handling of this war, his refusal to withdraw from Iraq after his allegation was found untrue, mean further loss of Americans life there, translate into loss of congress majority to democratic party.

    I agree Iraq and Afghanistan wars are for different agenda, but Bush lump all into war on terrorism for personal agenda. Even Iraqi government is asking USA to stay now after series of terrorist attacks in their country. I’m sure USA can take care of it since it is a war of choice.

    As for finding “PERFECT” Malaysia’s democratic system, i wish you luck in it as we also have a very “imperfect” system in place, instead of just USA.

    Monsterball;
    An old fox is more appropriate, he does have some listeners attend to listen to his “rubbish”- muslim malaysian student association in London. Probably he told UK authority he is an official spokesman for Iraqi.

    But this time he cannot use ISA to put the 3 world leaders behind his detention camp, those countries are much bigger than his little islamic country.
