Crazy increment of tariff

There is a report in NST today that water tariff will be increased on January 1st next year, which is just 7 months away. I quote:

WATER tariffs in the Klang Valley will rise by 37 per cent next year.

With the increase, water will cost RM1.90 per cubic metre, up from RM1.39. The rise will take effect on Jan 1.

This news was revealed in the state assembly yesterday by Ng Suee Lim (DAP-Sekinchan), who said the increase was allowed in the concessionaire agreement between Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) and the state government.

He said assemblymen only knew about this when they were given a briefing by Syabas officials several weeks ago.

Ng said, according to the agreement, the state would have to pay compensation to Syabas if  it did not approve the price hike………………………..

When met outside the assembly, Teng Chang Khim (DAP-Sungai Pinang) said the agreement that had been signed by the Barisan Nasional government allowed a tariff increase every three years.

“It’s just like a toll agreement.”

An increase of 37%? Even if we can tolerate an one-off increase, how about the increase in every three years?

Water is an essential item, how on earth can a state government sign such a lopsided agreement? Perhaps the former Selangor MB care to enlighten us on this.

This is exactly why people had voted the oppostion in the last election…. Those walking in the corridor of power and those assisting these people have all forgotten the very basic in politics…Good government takes care of its people and not exploit them.

If the hike is about this amount every 3 years, in no time, water will become one of our biggest expense item in most household budget. Don’t be surprised if you spend more on water every month than on petrol, a decade down the road.

Someone should look into who make up the shareholders in Sykt. Bekalan Air Selangor. There may be ‘pleasant surprises’ for us there.

The main sharehoder is Razali – promoted by our Mahatail. We need to look into the agreement if Sybas has to reduce the NRW by replacing old pipes. Also by having the consumers to sue or will not pay if the water supplied is brownish. So where are the improvement of water if there will be price increase if we face yearly or daily disruption of water.

Well, Selangor folks have only themselves to blame for voting Barang Naik government all these years.

Now only you get to see all their ugly deeds.

Wanna wait another 50 years ?

Time to rethink, restrategy and reinventing. Time to reflect and review loop sided policy. Changes have been given. Do the best you can for the people, what is right we accept. What is wrong, we need to correct them. It is not the Barisan Nasional government weakness but the tempatation is too strong to resist. What we want is PR government prove what they can do for the people? We don’t want public relation exercise, correct it and set it right.

Enforcement and cooperation is still the best for us Malaysians to face the global challenge.

Thanks for keeping us updated. At the very least, the new Selangor State government has kept things transparent eventhough the news does seem gloomy. Continue to expose all these. Don’t forget there are many business professionals and corporate people in our midst. Perhaps someone somewhere could offer solutions or alternatives.

If Sybas has to increase the rates, at least Selangor Government has to watchdog the water quality supplied to the household, reduce the amount of leakages through old pipes and to ensure people can get water at all times instead of low water pressure. If they unable to serve such standards, don’t pay Sybas just like in any resturants or even mamak stall!!

jughead, exactly. I stay in PJ and most households have to install fliters at the mains to filter off the mud ad so on…

A good filter is not cheap. And you have to spend time and effort, besides money, to clean (backwash)or change the filters.

It is just like LDP road tolls. You have to pay hefty toll, but before you hand out the toll money, you have to be prepared to get stuck in queues before the toll gate; sometimes as long as 15 minutes.

besides, every three years, a surer thing than the Sun rising from the East, the toll will be increased, often at hefty amount.

seriously, i dont know whats Khalid waiting for. To me, there are enough abuses by him. And that includes Balkis under his wife with splashes such as RM279,000 for sports attire. Dont know how they can justify such spending given the low number of Balkis members?
Khalid, talk less and act firm now.

For millions and millions of years before humans appeared on this Earth, Mother Nature had and has distributed water continously to every living and non living beings without problems as according to her balance of distribution throughout the world.

But when humans started to be civilised and able to calculate many problems started to arise, such as water shortages, inflation, pollution, contamination and famine.

If the leaders are able to understand and follow
like nature without greed but budgeting sincerely,
surely the country will not suffer of any recession
    or shortages of water.

Is mankind really help mankind like Mother Nature without expecting in return or cause increase of prices for every reason given ?

If Mother Nature were to control water like what humans do, then what will happen to all the people not in this country but throughout the whole world ? This gives to everyone’s guess.

The leaders are blessed by Heaven in swearing an oath in the name of GOD with wisdom and with the trust and respect of the citizens are to work hand in glove in overcoming whatever problems that arise.

Work as a team. Do not have an impression of
discrimination in status. It is only a temporary
title of leadership. All are equal in true love.

yh….Kahlid can expose…..but is powerless to act…as UMNO is still controlling the government.
What he can do..are limited…just like Lim Eng Guan…and yes..Khalid can do as much as he talking less…for Selangor people….like Lim is doing in Penang….right now…converting 60 years lease holds house owners to free holds titles….helping so many poor.. to have properties..they now can call their very own…..worth quite alot more too!! These people can now borrow money from banks …easier…to finance their children…higher educations? That is a real smart move..for the poor and middle class.
Khalid…should learn …what is good for Selangor Malaysians…and act fast.
