Gerakan leaders,in the spirits of ’69, wake up and leave now !!

I am posting a piece of news form The Sun on the press conference of Ahmad Ismail, the Bukit bendera UMNO division chairman.

I would like to pose a question to Gerakan Top leadership: What are you going to do now when you are being criticised and chastised in such a manner by a second tier leader from UMNO? What are you going to do when the whole Penang UMNO is siding with him over this race incident?

Like I have often mentioned, just a racist remark by an UMNo leader, not even the top ones, would have negate all the good works done by Gerakan. How are you going  to attract “colour-blind”  ” Malaysia-thinking” people to join Gerakan now? How are you going to re-invent Gerakan? Any wonder why Tunku Abdul Aziz opts to join DAP and not Gerakan?

As a grassroot, I am giving my humble opinion that there is only one way for Gerakan to go now. Leave Barisan Nasional immediately. You have not been able to change UMNO leaders for the past 34 years, and do not think you can change them now.

This case is a clarion call to wake you up. Do not day dream anymore that you can gain back your glory with this type of partnership! Think of the people, think of the party ideology and your promise of going back to the people. The people has clearly voiced out with their votes that they do not want racial politcis anymore. Please do not think about, at this juncture,   the numbers of seats you will be allocated the next round! There are things more important than seats or positions! Think about your own consciense! Think about why you joined politics!

For the party, Gerakan would be small and weak , yes, if it chooses to come out now.   But if it opts to remain inside this race based coalition, it is signing its own death sentence!

Out of BN, there is still a chance to slowly build the party up again. Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu fought with only 300 hardcore Gerakan members and won Penang in 1969. Where is the spirtis of ’69? Dr Lim Keng Yaik talked of pulling out of BN and give them one last chance. This is not only the last chance but the last straw. After this, there will be no more straw for you to grasp anymore. The party will sink if you do not act fast!!!

This is what the Sun reported:

Ahmad Ismail: I did no wrong; reporter to blame for inaccurate reporting
Opalyn Mok

GEORGE TOWN (Sept 5, 2008):
Bukit Bendera Umno division chief Datuk Ahmad Ismail today addressed the recent uproar over his alleged racist statement by again insisting he did no wrong and instead blamed a Sin Chew Daily reporter for inaccurate reporting of his speech delivered during a ceramah at the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.
“I do not dispute the fact that I did say that the Chinese were merely ‘menumpang di tanah air kita’ (squatters in our land) but I was referring to the pre-Merdeka period when Malaya was under the British,” he told a packed press conference at Menara Umno here.

Ahmad reiterated confidently that he was not wrong as according to historical facts, it was undeniable that the Chinese were immigrants and squatting on our land during the pre-Merdeka period.”I did not create any racial issue. It is the reporter who manipulated my speech and he is the one with his own agenda,” he said.Ahmad went on to attack the reporter for not being ethical and for intentionally creating a sensitive issue.”So the reporter is the one who is responsible in creating this racial issue. It is the reporter who is racist, not me,” he said amidst cheers and calls from some Umno members present who shouted the words ‘Suruh dia balik tong san’ (Tell him to go back to China).
When contacted for an immediate reaction, Sin Chew Daily editor-in-chief Pook Ah Lek told theSun that they stand by their report, and that it was an accurate coverage of what was said.
He said the report was written by a senior journalist who received an in-house excellence award for reportage last year.
The report churned up a furore among Barisan Nasional components MCA and Gerakan, and the DAP joined in as well, to slam Ahmad for his racist remarks. A number of police reports were also lodged, alleging an offence under the Sedition Act.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, who was reportedly present during Ahmad’s controversial speech, had on Tuesday tendered a public apology on behalf of Umno for Ahmad’s remarks, adding that it was not reflective of Umno’s policy.

Ahmad however said Sin Chew Jit Poh had manipulated his speech on Aug 24 and on Aug 25 he had given another ceramah at the Barisan Nasional Bukit Indera Muda Operations Centre and had given an explanation to rectify the issue.

“Why didn’t the reporter pick up and rectify the issue? This clearly showed that the reporter has his own agenda,” he said.

Continuing with his ‘attack’ on the reporter, Ahmad said he believed that the reporter was not a reporter who usually covers political issue but had taken over a friend’s duty.

“The question now is that surely the newspaper’s editor checked the reporter’s report. So, I hereby firmly state that I will not apologise over the mistakes made by the reporter. I am innocent and I challenge anyone who wants to disagree with me that the Chinese were ‘squatters’ in Malaya before Merdeka,” he said.

“I am firm with my statement. The reporter should be the one apologising, not only to the Chinese for deliberately creating a racial issue but he should also apologise to me, my family and all the Malays and Muslims in our country,” he said.

Reading out from a prepared 16-page speech, Ahmad also demanded for apologies from all Chinese leaders who had issued comments recklessly and blindly which further blew the whole issue out of proportion.

“This includes the Chinese leaders within Barisan Nasional,” he said.

Datuk Ahmad Ismail pressing home a point during his press conference
to address the furore over a report of his alleged racist remarks.

Ahmad then went on to criticise Gerakan acting president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon for getting carried away and losing his judgement by releasing immature comments on the issue.

“Koh has tried to shift the focus on his weaknesses by stating that this issue is the cause of Barisan Nasional’s loss in Permatang Pauh,” he said.

“I challenge Koh to look at himself in the mirror and not to try to find a scapegoat and stop being so dramatic, which he is very good at. He should accept the reality

that the Chinese no longer support him and Gerakan so he should not be looking for a scapegoat,” he added.

Ahmad also ticked off three Gerakan leaders from the Bukit Bendera division, whom he did not name, and told them to look ahead.

“In this issue, they have made statements in the Chinese newspapers but we, Malays, have read the translations. We feel saddened and very angry that after 18 years we, the Malays, supported them, they dare to politicise this issue and it is clearly they who are trying to conduct a character assassination, together with several other Chinese leaders, of Malay leaders in Bukit Bendera,” he said.

“Or perhaps Koh and Gerakan has their own agenda of late and they are only looking for excuses and reasons to realise their agenda. What agenda? You think about it yourself,” he added.

Ahmad also said: “I wish to remind my leaders not to be too weak and extreme in trying to take care of the feelings of others until the feelings of Malays were hurt.” He urged them to be strong, firm and not to follow in others’ footsteps.

In Penang, he said it is a reality that a majority of the Chinese community do not support Barisan Nasional, which was obvious when, in the March general election, Gerakan and MCA lost all the seats they contested in.

“Don’t forget that out of the 15 seats that Umno contested in, 11 seats were given full support by the Malays. Don’t be too eager in taking care of the feelings of other races that we are seen to be weak to the point of hurting the feelings of Malays who had supported us all this while,” he said.

“Malay leaders must wake up and realise now that we have to unite to uphold the rights and pride of our race,” he said.

Later, when asked to respond to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s statement asking him to apologise, Ahmad said he respects and loves the Prime Minister. “With all due respect to Abdullah, as a BN leader I still have my own principles in certain areas so I will still stand by my statement in not apologising.”

As for the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak’s public apology on his behalf, Ahmad said it is Najib’s right to apologise.

Asked to respond to a statement by Koh in Kota Baru that Gerakan will review its position in BN if the component parties, especially Umno, fail to bring about change so as to restore people’s confidence in the ruling coalition, Ahmad said if Koh and Gerakan wants to leave BN, they can do so.

WHAT AHMAD SAID AT THE CERAMAH

Earlier in his speech, Ahmad started off by stating that he is not a racist and that he has many Chinese and Indians who are not only in politics, sports or business but also in his daily life.

“I am not going to be apologetic. I am not going to apologise as I did not owe any apology to anyone in this issue. I have done nothing wrong,” he said.

He claimed that he had been put on trial in the ‘media court’ where the media had found him guilty which is unfair and unprofessional for not getting any clarification from him while straightaway penalising him.

“I am supposed to be ‘innocent until proven guilty’ but unfortunately, this did not happen. Worse still, there are some Chinese extremist who has branded myself as a racist. However, there are many Malays who considered me as a nationalist,” he said.

He admitted that he had chosen to be silent on the issue in the past week as he had wanted to assess the situation and the development that follows.

“During that period, I was also in Bangkok, Thailand. But during that period, I have discussed with my friends and today, I am ready to give response to the issue. This enabled me to make a decision that is not too rushed or hasty unlike some Chinese leaders who had made baseless comments which reflects

their immaturity and had helped fan this whole baseless issue,” he said.

He explained that his ceramah was held for a Malay and Muslim group.

“As a less significant leader, I was trying to create awareness amongst those in my race and religion so it is not wrong for me to talk to them about the fight for Malays and Muslims as it is within Umno’s constitution that we fight for Malays’ and Muslims’ rights,” he said.

He further read out what he had said in the ceramah which is a recounting of the history of Malaya during the time of the British rule.

“I said Malaya belonged to our Malay ancestors. The Chinese were only squatting in Malaya at that time, and that due to the unfairness of the British at that time, the immigrant race had received education and more benefits earlier than Bumiputras,” he said.

He also said that in achieving Merdeka, the Malays had willingly allowed citizenship to the Chinese and this right was allowed the Chinese when the Chinese at that time agreed to Malay rights and supremacy which must not be disputed.

“This is a social contract agreed by our leaders at that time. Citizenship rights were given to the Chinese as a package whereby the Chinese must accept and respect the rights of the Malays and Malay supremacy.

“The Chinese can’t just accept citizenship and later dispute the Malay rights and supremacy as this is breach of contract,” he said.

He also pointed out that if the Chinese wants to dispute the Malays rights and supremacy, then in the same context, the Malays also can dispute the rights of the Chinese’s citizenship here.

Several Umno leaders who were at the press conference, such as state Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Rashid Abdullah and Opposition leader Datuk Azhar Ibrahim also voiced their support for Ahmad for his stand of not apologising

Ahmad Ismail sadly still does not get it – Malaysia does not exist because of Malay rights or Malay supremacy.

His press conference continues to harp on presenting the Chinese as 2nd class citizens and presumably all other ethnic groups (other than the Malay).

And now, he is openly challenging Gerakan and MCA and by extension, all other political parties in the BN. Badawi & Najib must now be despairing that their earlier “damage control” has been rebuffed, given the current tenuous state of politics.

Perhaps it is a good thing that he is doing this. He may just have nudged some of the BN component parties to make the move to PKR’s side and perhaps, Sept 16 will see a historic vote of no-confidence in the Dewan Rakyat.

And the best part is UMNO did it all by themselves.

Actually, it is good for Gerakan to stay aboard the BN ship. Otherwise, there will be too many parties reaching out to the same target group. Instead, the call should be to their MEMBERS who are colour blind to ‘jump’.

The Star reported “ BN LEADERS SLAM AHMAD FOR ARROGANCE “

Dear Leaders of BN component parties,

Why hit out at Ahmad Ismail?

What he said was merely a very mild repetition of what tens of thousands of civil servants, especialy school teachers, were being indoctrinated during sessions organized by Biro Tatanegara.

You need evidence? Please interview those trainees who were victimized by all sorts of abusive racial remarks inflicted by non other than our Biro Tatanegara. Most of them left the typical 5 days training session with broken hearts and eyes full of tears.

By the way, when I went to UM in 1979, the first thing I was told during orientation was that I am from Kaum Pendatang, a term I heard for the first time then. During the first lecture in Political Science, we were being lectured on the term Kaum Pendatang. To my horror, the lecturer was later to be conferred decorative titles and even became the head of Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka.

I struggled and worked hard both in Malaysia and abroad, pay my taxes to our government, and our government uses our taxes to fund a destructive institution called Biro Tatanegara to train our teachers, among others, to remind my children that they are from Kaum Pendatang.

Dear Leaders of BN component parties, no point attacking Ahmad Ismail, instead, do look at Biro Tatanegara established by the support from you yourselves.

Sin Chew Media stands by reporter and story

PETALING JAYA: Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad will stand by its reporter who wrote the story about Bukit Bendera Umno chief Ahmad Ismail’s alleged racist statements.

Its chief editor Pook Ah Lek said the newspaper would not apologise as it had done nothing wrong.

“It is a normal tactic by politicians to look for a scapegoat when they are under attack. It is just something he is doing to divert attention,” said Pook.

Dr Hsu, time for all component parties of BN to leave.
    Let UMNO rot.
If Gerakan refuses to pull out, I think that you should leave; perhaps you can join the DAP or PKR where their ideology is more in sync with yours.
It’s no use wasting time in the BN coalition anymore.

There…SUN talk straight talk….no beating about the bush.
Admad hentam back Koh Tsu Khoon…and he is right…on one important point…Malaysian Chinese do not support Gerakan..and for that matter.
That guys interpretation that he is not a racialists…mean Malays take care of Malays….Chinese to Chinese… and Indians to Indians…..and when they get together….they are all Malaysians…to each his own…living happily together….divide to rule.race and religion..successful..and when other races talk too much…Malays must show…who is their boss.
No wonder he is so rich…one of the best Mahathir student..I am sure.
22 years thinking and talking like that…he will never change…as he is such a filthy rich robot….why change?.
So who is in the wrong…why UMNO members can talk like that…with no feeling of shame or guilt…trying to teach us too?
It is because….Gerakan talk big…no actions..real toothless idiots..and do depend on Muslims votes…all along. That’s why Koh said Gerakan will never leave Barisan. …such a low class politician…and he cannot leave…as his whole political life…depends on UMNO.
    Without ..Mahathir….he was nothing.
Now he is really a nobody…why must those Gerakan members stick to such ac leader for 18 years….stick clinging to the sickening party?
It’s the Malaysian Muslims that are leading the way…to freedom for all Malaysians.
Don’t ever Gerakan or MCA or MIC existing members..think selfishly……making the Muslims get fed up…and swing …votes back to UMNO.
You want to be selfish….and trying to be too smart??…..you asked for it.

We do have smart Malaysian Chinese who is actually more Chinese than being a Malaysian.
They are not really loyal Malaysians…for the people….by the people and with the people.
    They are for themselves.
Such are the kind..that got Malaysians bullied by UMNO badly..these 25 years.
Such are the kind…even now afraid to declare who they will vote…as they will keep weighing the situations…to suit their personal benefits.
Such are the kind…never appreciate the BERSIH….Lawyers and Hindraf walks….for their children. They have not one once of gratitude to others…as they are so smart and selfish.
Now can talk freely…never know who gave them these freedom.
Such are the kind..of Malaysian Chinese….that will make muslims voters get fed up…and vote for UMNO and BN.
Such are the kind..will be happy…to continue selling their kind….to kowtow to UMNO.
Their so call wise votes…vote is secret logic…are bunkum excuse…to sit on the fence.
I have seen it all..and if they vote for change…why ..they will show you..how good they are..really not true.
    Life is such.
Live with it…live with some sickening Malaysian Chinese hypocrites!!

its up to the members to leave. hollowed the grassroots, the parties will become meaningless. if that happens, umno would just tell them to leave as they are of no longer use.
let me say this. BN will not change coz the Ahmad Ismails are no longer the voice of minority within UMNO. For those who want a Bangsa Malaysia, take the first step by disassociating with BN and use your vote judiciously come the next election.

I copy and paste here some paragraphs from ‘son of Malaysia Today’ :

    About 916

“Many just can’t believe that Anwar will really take over on 16 September 2008. Some just wish it were true. Some say it’s too good to be true. Others say Anwar is just playing poker. The sceptics say Anwar is laying the ground for a self-fulfilling prophecy. What is foremost in everyone’s mind is: is Anwar playing a high-stakes poker game or will this be a gunfight at the OK Corral?

At this point of time, Anwar can no longer just play poker. No one asked him to take over the government. No one set 16 September 2008 as the deadline. This was entirely Anwar’s own choice with no pressure or cohesion whatsoever on anyone’s part. It was Anwar who ‘volunteered’ the entire exercise. No one forced him into the situation.

Taking all this into consideration, there is no way Anwar can renege on his ‘promise’. To do so would result in a serious erosion of credibility. If Anwar fails to deliver his 16 September 2008 promise, he might as well disappear from the scene. If 16 September 2008 comes and goes as a non-event, Anwar too will become a non-event and will have to throw in the towel and call it quits.”

    About Gerakan

“Parti Gerakan Rakyat is on the verge of leaving the ruling coalition. No, it is not going to join Pakatan Rakyat. It is going to remain as an ‘independent’ party. And from there it is going to re-build its lost fortunes and revert to what it used to be when it was first launched 40 years ago in 1968.

Gerakan is going to be a most attractive party once it leaves Barisan Nasional and it launches its ‘remaking’ exercise. Hell, even I might get attracted to it once it transforms into what it started out in 1968. Gerakan will of course need to attract not only many professionals but from amongst all the races as well. And if Anwar falls short on 16 September 2008, Gerakan will be there with open arms to receive all the disappointed ex-Anwaristas who no longer have any confidence that Anwar is true to his word.”

    Dr.Hsu.

There is only one reason I can think of why KTK lack the gumption to leave. He must be up to his eyeballs in corruption. The moment he walks out of the coalition, the police will come a knocking at his door before he can take a flower bath. He was practically spitted on by Ahmad, and his feeble attempt to rebuke is the reflection of such fear. Maybe a motion of no confidence against KTK by the grassroots might help Gerakan out of the rocks.

The fact that the entire top leadership of both Gerakan & MCA can be easily brushed aside by 1 UMNO Division Chief speaks volumes for itself. 1 UMNO Division Chief can even hold the Prime Minister at ransom (in view of the upcoming GA). This is simply unacceptable in a democracy. A country held hostage by 1 UMNO Division Chief!

By the way, how come the SUPP keep so quiet? Last time they played up the issue of DAP cooperate with PAS in Sarawak by putting up posters showing Kit Siang hug with Nik Aziz. Now keep so quiet when 1 UMNO Division Chief has insulted 30% of Sarawak’s population. Even in Sarawak SUPP scared of UMNO?

In Arabic, Ahmad literally means “Worthy of Praise” and Abdullah literally means “Servant of God”…

Ahmad is the other name of the Prophet of Islam. Abdullah is the name of the father of the Prophet od Islam. Humility before God is an essential value in Islam, and the Prophet of Islam represents this true spirit of humility. Hence, many muslims choose to name their children with either Ahmad, Mohammed and Abdullah.

However, the very action of these “Ahmad”, “Muhammad” and “Abdullah” under UMNO does not come near to the concepts of humility before God and their action is nothing to be praise upon.

To Ahmad of UMNO B. Bendera and PM Abdullah, know this; both of you are guilty of giving “Ahmad” and “Abdullah” a BAD name! Shame on you…

    Dear Dr Hsu,

Some of my friends from Gerakan were telling me there is a Dr. who is acting as the conscience of Gerakan and I quite concur with them. I also know Dr Toh who had recently given up Gerakan membership and he is also one man who owns his principle and conscience in his struggle in the ever complicated political arena.

Dr Toh, Dr Kang and Dr Koh were the renowned 3-musketeers in Gerkan who joined Gerakan for the purpose to join BN, to reinvent BN ! But, after many decades had past, we saw Dr Kang’s reluctant ebb away and Dr Toh’s sigh off from the Party leaving Dr Koh the one and only lonely musketeer and BN is still the same old BN, nothing change for better but for worse! In the helm of UMNO, it in fact has grown to become more racist and autocratic than ever.

Evidence has it that a third class politician like Ahmad Ismail can even behave in such an arrogant and autocratic manner, the crest of despotism bestowed by the Oppositions on BN therefore serves its purpose in the general perceptions of the common people! Even the component parties in BN have had felt the similar sentiment of being disgraced and ignored in their rightful status quo! Gerakan being regarded as a mosquito Party in BN has particularly felt sore and regret to have had assisted the UMNO Malay like sort of Ahmad Ismail in many aspects of socio-eco privileges and well-beings!

Since ingratitude and ungrateful UMNO Penang has demonstrated thus far, I see no reason why Dr Koh Tzu Koon should still behave subservient to such a despotic partner and bite his own lip?! There are so many cards now on the table for him to pick to decide the future of the Party helm by him and yet if he’s indecisive, time will never come again when the disappointing members opt to upbringing of a more ambitious, decisive, firm and a very strong character with plenty of guts to be their leader who to lead and excel the Party to greater height!

    Dear All,

About 916, it is nice if it will happened at all. But in order to make it happened, we need quality BN rep who have a clear conscience to jump over the board. Definitely, we dont need another BN rep under PKR with a lot of conditions, demands and lots of excess baggage, dont we?

Therefore, the most important thing about this 916 is for the rakyat in each constituents to start to “buka mata” in judging their own elected MP, whether, he/she is of a worthy material, who put the interest of the nation above personal interest? It’s time for all of the rakyat to opened their eyes. All of those Iban, Bidayuh, Kadazan, Bajau, Melanau, Banjar, Jawa, Bugis, Melayu, Orang Asli, Cina, Serani, India, Mamak… All of us Malaysians to be critical of our own elected MP. Are they working for us or the other way around?

This is the moment of truth…

    Dear Anak Malaysia,

I’ve now signed both petitions – 1 on the judiciary and the other on the freedom of speech. By the way I gave consent for my name to published as well.

People, there is nothing to be scared off. I’m still here am I not? I signed the petition on the judiciary 1 month ago and the petition on freedom of speech today.

I have a very good friend in the SB (and he is quite high ranking) and I once asked him about these petitions. This is what he told me.

The SB is the intelligence gathering part of the PDRM. Their normal work in times of peace would be to gather intelligence on criminal elements so that the PDRM can thwart the yet to happen crime. Already as it is, they are stretched thin given the continuing spate of crimes.

Now some elements of the ruling elite are using to SB to gather dirt on their political opponents, the SB is stretched thinner still.

Don’t worry, the SB’s manpower is not sufficient enough for their hands to reach that long.

Many more vocal and active people will have to be arrested first before action will reach the ordinary rakyat who signs mere petitions.

If it gets to the point where action is taken against mere signatories to petitions, the country would be in revolution and the power elite will have bigger issues to contend with rather than insignificant you.

So those who have not signed the petitions, go ahead and do so. 1 signature is nothing but if there are a few million signatures, even DYMM Yang Di Pertuan Agung will be moved to take heed of the wishes of his subjects and not so willingly acquiesce to the whims of the government.

Do not underestimate the loyalty the Agung still commands. Give him a reason to resist the unfair practices of the ruling elite. Understand that he too is walking a fine line. Unless we provide him the proof of our desires, we cannot fault him for his silence.

Badawi says Ahmad Ismail right, Najis Razak wrong:

TASEK GELUGOR, Sept 6 – Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi declared today that Datuk Ahmad Ismail, the Bukit Bendera division chief, is not a racist.

A tense-looking Abdullah also told reporters after a two-hour meeting with Penang Umno division heads, including Ahmad, that the freedom of speech had been abused in recent days, resulting in rising racial tensions.

His comments are not likely to end the debate sparked off by Ahmad’s remarks about the Chinese being squatters in Malaysia during the recent Permatang Pauh by-election campaign.

Various leaders of Chinese-based parties in the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition have demanded their parties pull out of the coalition if Umno did not take action against Ahmad.

The prime minister’s decision not to take action against Ahmad comes as a surprise especially after deputy Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak had apologised for the remarks on behalf of the Bukit Bendera Umno chief.

The Malaysian Insider understands that the Umno president came under severe pressure from his state’s division heads to back Ahmad during the meeting today.

While he did not explicitly back Ahmad, he repeated to the press Ahmad’s explanations that what he said was “historical fact” and that his remarks had been misinterpreted.

This is not about the trivial criticism of a third class UMNO goon against his personal character, this is not about Koh has been criticized and reprimand badly as a hypocrite as a good actor that matters so much the Gerakan members and the Chinese community! It’s really trivia and piddling if Ahmad Ismail was only lambasting Koh due to personal problems amongst them! It’s nothing trivial here when Ahmad and the whole UMNO Penang liaison office is grouping to stage a threat to the national security, a nostalgic statement issued in the press that UMNO can also be very aggressive which evokes to us that they can relapse to play up another 513 if they want. From these gestures, we smell the stench of Dato Harun’s corpse resurfaced!

When AAB stand out to defense Ahmad Ismail of not being racist, he slapped both cheeks of his Deputy and the Chinese community! Shouldn’t Koh also stand out and defense his Party members and the Chinese community that they are not unduly cynical and revolting like the kids engaging in mud slinging match?!
It’s about the UMNO hegemony and the racist venom that is working its effect to intoxicate and kill the bigger subject of racial harmony and national stability!!

How long Koh Tze Koon can posture himself an ostrich which he thinks he befits a good actor to satisfy the audience his role as the protagonist in this show in the zoo?! That people wants to see the falcon or the ostrich more?!

Ostrich buries its head and stick out the arse when problems approach, whereas the falcon is the venomous viper hunter which is much of a virile and aggressive species! Choose yourself now or never before 916! Do yourself a favor Dr Koh Tzu Koon!

I have commented before that, to me, political parties that we Malaysians had the most ‘wrong perception’ on are DAP and PAS. Malays had wrong perception on DAP and non-Malays had wrong perception on PAS.

I just read Malaysiakini interview with PAS leader, Mat Sabu, and this interview has somehow confirmed that my understand on PAS is correct, and is on that is not extremist as what most non-Malays perceived.

I also commented that the concept of PAS forming Islamic States in Malay heartlands like Kelantan, Kedah and maybe in future Trengganu is acceptable to me. Reason being in these states, majority of Malaysian there are Muslim Malays that aspire those states to be administered in Islamic concepts by voting for PAS.

A few Q&A of the interview attracted my attention and I think most of us should read so to have a better understanding of PAS and its relationship with PKR and DAP .

The last card they have to play is the racial card and they are playing it now! Believe me it will get worse. By the same token, we must resist by showing our intelligence and not our emotions.

All the component parties of BN should leave as they have been belittled so many times by UNMO. If this is not a wake up call, I don’t know what is. This time round when UMNO is weak you find some apology but when UMNO is strong like before March 8, do you see them apologising?

Our Pee M is very weak. Before he met up Ahmad he thought he can persuade him to apologise. However, after meeting Ahmad, he flip flops again. Ahmad has our Pee M by his b**ls as he knows Pee M needs the Penang UMNO support for his presidency. Ahmad must have given our Pee M an offer he can’t refuse which is if he doesn’t support him, our Pee M will not get any support from UMNO Penang. Here, our Pee M wins a battle with Ahmad but will end up losing the war as all non-Malays will no longer support BN in the future due to this arrogance and egoistic behavior.

It is so clear that UMNO is not interested to share power with its component parties. Just look at the current cabinet. It doesn’t reflect the ratio and even UMNO losers are reappointed into the cabinet.

This is the best excuse to leave BN for MCA. Gerakan and MIC. Let’s see how UMNO will stand alone and for how long as a single party. IF Gerakan, MCA and MIC don’t leave now, they can expect no support from the non-Malays as long as they are in BN. Gerakan, MCA and MIC has a Hobson choice only

It’s a catch 22 for MCA and Gerakan crooks…in or out BN.
Crooks never listen or think about the non stop Malaysian Chinese demands for their race…as racialism is played so long…so unfair by UMNO.
MCA and Gerakan can keep saying….they are hearing the people’s demands…just like Dollah is saying too…..but really…all are so used to be selfish and cunning…playing raliatists politics..and MCA/Gerakan depends on Muslim votes..how to pull out? They have been riding high ..as part of government……fooling Malaysians…resign and do what?
Lets finish them off ..in next general election..not one voted in…put the final nail in their coffins. That’s what Malaysians must do.

I wonder how democracy work in Malaysia poltics especially Gerakan and MCA. Don’t we agree voices of majority must be respected and adopted? Then why when 80% grass root opted to leave BN, yet the leaders said they will not do so. You mean the leaders can overrule 80% members votes? I m puzzle. Can’t the members request for a referendum to decide their direction? Are we having too many highly educated guys that make democracy too complicated to manifest in Gerakan ?

CYC, after the UMNO court case in 1987,most BN parties have adopted a clause in their constitution saying tht any decision made by central leadership is final and . In Gerakan it is the Central working Committe, in UMNO is Supreme council and so on. there is also a clause saying that the decision canot be brought to court. That is why party top leader is so powerful. And he normally will pack his own people into the central committee.

So any state that is deemed to be not in sync wiht central leadership will be frozen and taken over. It is to nip the bud before it grows to a big tree.

Any reform movemment needs to start from a state and from its grassroots members And so there are obstacles stacked against a grassroot reform movemment.

In UMNO, it is worse. ANy challengers must have certain number of nominations from divisions first. Even in general election , you do not need so many nominations to become a candidate.

The BN parties have pledged after March 8 that they will go back to grassroots. Meaning that before March 8, they have not heeded grassroots voices. In manay cases, candidates were decided by the top leadership without even considering the state or the grassroot opinion. It is no wonder that so many lost, because many of the candidates are at best mediocre, they are chosen because they are closed to one of the eunuchs, or they are deemed to be a person that would be obedient to the top leaders. Look at UMNO, MCA ad Gerakan, are there any leaders in the mould of Tunku, Tan Siew Sin or Lim Chong Eu? Party machinery is used to get the president’s men up the ladders. Good grassroots leaders will not have a chance. Unless of course, the grasrrot movements in different states coalesce into a tsunami.

Now i understand why Malaysia politics is low quality. There you have members who are willing to sacrifice their principles or sheer ignorant of what democracy is all about. But instead institutionalize dictatorship while shouting loud of hollow democracy and meritocracy. Low quality members breed lower quality leader, that’s all.

Malaysians are all comfortable of status quo even though they know it will bring no improvement. You wonder why? We have been living under well and indoctrinated with BN’s slogan for too long that created an inner fear for change. But can we afford to wait ? No, we must act now or the opportunity will fade away.

    bushcai & CYC,

In the absence of meritocracy and healthy competition at party level, Umno and other parties in BN have become ‘dinosaurs’ in their own rights or senile old men if you think that is the more proper word.

If these dinosaurs are not receptive of its grassroot opinioins, what would you expect the way they will react after 308 tsunami and PP by-elections?

Dr. Hsu’s stand of still remaining in Gerakan, to me, it is a ‘blessing in disguise’ to BN as a whole to ‘re-susitate’ a near to dead dinosaur before it becomes a extinct creature in this earth.

But, take my words, Dr. Hsu will give up such dinosaur ultimately because all other doctors had given up their best shots.

A good doctor can calculate a date for the birth of a baby. Nature may have its own timing so long as the final product has ten toes and ten fingers to bring elation to the faces of the parents. We do not demand a Cesarean section in case the baby is stillborn. (Sorry, I am not a doctor)

We should not let this one person turn the whole things into a racial confrontation.

This is in fact not about racial confrontation, but rahter whether we accept UMNO’s brand of race politics . If we do not accept the race politics, we should just show it the next round of GE.

For component parties, it should ask itself, not to create any more race confrontation, but rather it is still relevant inside a coalition dominated by a party with such members?

    Justin,

I would prefer Anwar has no plan to ‘fish’ Umno MPs to cross over because these MPs were in racist environment for so long in Umno.

Maybe some of them may not be racist as perceived, I dare not put any percentage on them whether they favour multiracial ideology, of which Pakatan Rakyat is all about.

I do not wish to see such multiracial ideology in jeopardy when these Umno MPs cross over.

But, if the new government formed by Pakatan Rakyat resolve parliament and go for fresh GE, then such strategy of pinching Umno MPs is still acceptable.

But again, very unlikely Muyidin can fit into Anwar’s plan since he already invited Mahathir to rejoin Umnno.
