The latest news from Malaysiakini reported that RPK is going to be sent to Kamunting for its 2 years detention.
today is also the court hearing for RPK’s Habeas corpus ‘s hearing in High Court.Habeas corpus is a writ ordering prisoners to be brought before a judge to ascertain if there are any procedural defects which could render their detention unlawful. Hopefully the judge would free him. As I see it, there is really no security threat to the country, although certain inside news that he reported do hurt many people in high places.
But if you do not want people to know about bad things, the best thing is not to commit them.
What RPK did in his blog heralds a new begining of the freedom of expression in Malaysia . If anyone feels that he or she is unjustly accused of certain things, they can always resort to suing RPK for defamation. If there is no basis, RPK would be punished, but if there are truths to what he writes, then he should be allowed to defend himself and show evidence to back up what he has written.
This is what human rights is about; this is what freedom of expression is about; this is what accountability is about.
By sending him to Kamunting, he would be kept there a minimum of 2 years, since they would only review his case every 2 years.
I would like to once again deplore this act of detaining someone without trial, and I hope the power-that-be would really consider releasing him unconditionally, since by detaining him, the government would lose even more support among the people. And this is no way of trying to gain back the people’s support.
RPK is indeed a prisoner of conscience, and all those who conscinece should lobby for his release. ( International convention considers a person as a prisoner of conscience when he is being physically restrained -by imprisonment or otherwise- from expressing (in any form of words or symbols) any opinion which he honestly holds and which does not advocate or condone personal violence.)

I’m surprised that the BN gahmen has no conscience at all in imprisoning RPK, the Hindraf 5 and the other ISA detainees.
BN component parties like Gerakan, MCA, MIC are merely rubber stamps in BN as said by your Gerakan advisor, Lim Keng Yaik. The part that I’m surprised is that you, Dr. Hsu, being a rational man not making that all important move to up and out of Gerakan.
Gerakan once said that they are the voice of conscience in BN but that was how many years ago? Gerakan once was a great party as written by RPK but what is it today?

I use to admire Jack Welch (former CEO of GE). But the more I know about his background and his philosohies, I now think he is a despicable creature. He may be a brilliant corporate CEO but a useless human being. Same with John Denver. He died in a plane crash some years back. He sings so melodiously but has a temper that exhibits itself by beating up his loved ones. I actually respected AAB when he became PM but it lasted till circa 2005 when I started to read about him in the blogs and MT opened my eyes. No, I don’t have any heroes but RPK is that rare gem, one in a trillion. He represents everything I want to be but can’t. He gave his all to elevate Malaysians to a higher level of political thinking. He represents the future for young Malaysians. RPK is above all the Tan Sri’s and Datuks in this land. He is such a Man, Big-balls and Stupendous Courage against the Corrupt and Evil of our society. I will be attending the ISA forum tonight at 8pm at the KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (No. 1 Jalan Maharajalela). Banish this law!

I am amazed that given all the public objections to using ISA by the BN parties, Syed Hamid still went ahead. This action is very much a message to the blogging community as well as the BN parties.
MCA cannot say that there was no BN discussion on the action, and they cannot be responsible. Gerakan, there is no more hole to hide.
There is only one honourable action to demonstrate their opposition to the use of ISA against Raja Petra.
Short of this, Ong Ka Ting, Koh Tsu Koon and Samy Vellu will be shown as what they are – bunch of bootlicking opportunists and many more colourful descriptions found in the blogs.

Detaining RPK IN Kamunting is akin to sending a strong signal to all other outspoken bloggers who are stridently anti-government in their views. Either tone down or tempt fate. This kind of intimidation is the natural reaction of bully boys, not that of leaders of men. Jailing a man for his non-violent beliefs and without trial goes against all human decency. Who will be next? Creating a climate of fear and suspicion will not help a rotten government to survive. All the more desperately, people want change and want it sooner.

A true malaysian, after September 16, everything seems to be quiet now.
This is typical of the calm before a major storm. I think there will be turbulence in Malaysian political scene.
SInce Anwar is already been labelled as a security threat, it would be wise for him to keep low for a while. Especialy with his ‘ so do me’ case coming up for hearing.
There will also be a lot of hapening in UMNO. Pak Lah is trying hard to make a last stand, Najib is wavering after trying to psuh for PM to go off early. Then there is Ku Li and Muhyddin, both are a long shot but nevertheless, they will create certain ripples in the calm surface.
I am sure the calm appearance will soon be shuttered by the strong undercurrents beneath. Malaysia is in for an uncertain period.
Namewee is now being grilled. If he is prosecuted, then there will be a feeling of selective persecution, like the case of Tan Hoon Cheng.WHy no such prosecution on AH Mad? everyone wil be asking. Namewee just used his video to criticise certain aspects of our life.
We should be big enough to accept his criticism in good faith and try to imporve ourselves. Whereas, what Ah Mad mentioned is really seditious, and why no action against him? even Ku Li labellel the action by our government as selective persecution, which is really apt.

Namewee in fact, also criticized the Chinese Malaysian in his video, for working like crazy to chase for material wealth and thus suggested them to learn from their Malay friends who take life easy.
A large part of the video clip are in southern Hokkien. Even Chinese of other dialects could not understand the true message that Namewee was trying to convey, what about our Malay friends?
The whole message that Namewee tried to convey was that he loved his country very much even though he, like other non-Malays are unfairly treated. In his other video clips that follows, he in fact express his loneliness when he was still studying in Taiwan.

A few days ago Samy Vellu called for the released of Hindraf 5. Today he met the PM personally to press for their release. He will also bring it up at the next BN Supreme Council meeting.
I’m no fan of Samy Vellu but at least he follows up his public statements with action. This is unlike Gerakan and MCA which only know how to issue press statements but no action. During Cabinet or BN meetings they are too timid to bring it up. Their public statements are just for show and achieve nothing.
For example, after the MCA Central Committee issued a statement urging the govt to release Teresa Kok, the 4 MCA Ministers did not bring up her case in the Cabinet meeting the next day.
If this is the sort of timid leadership from Gerakan and MCA, they will be rightly rejected by the electorate.

This smacks of vindicitveness. Regarding this Namewee’s case, exactly if that AhMad can be let off with a slap on the wrist, why pursue a case which is already history. Have they the cops no better things to oversee?
Another joke on the horizon, the Race Relation Act is proposed to manage race relations when race relations should be allowed to occur naturally like through mingling of our children in school through study and play, through equal treatment of our people, through implementation of fair policies and through the Bangsa Malaysia concept and not the Ketuanan Melayu call.
Inter-racial harmony and goodwill can only be promoted through respect of each other’s culture and religion. All these will blossom on its own when people of different races rub shoulders in the course of work and play especially in sports. Sports has always been a binding factor. Remember the memorable occasion of how Chong Wei jump on to Misbun’s embrace when he qualified for the Olympic finals.
The leaders themselves should set a good example and avoid treading on the sensitivities of other races that could spark and stoke dangerous fires of racism. As it is at the moment the different races viewed each other with mistrust all because of implementation of unfair policies. according to race and not meritocracy.

Amidst the peoples furore, the immense frustration from all the sectors in the society, the power that be blatantly allowed the ever disputable Minister Syed Hamid to jump the gun of depriving RPK his rights to be heard in the Court! His rashly endorsement of the detention order under Section 8, ISA, is just evidence of his abuse of legal procedure as well as infringement of basic human rights any humankind, including RPK should have been given such rights, the rights universally recognised!
“The strong do what they want, the weak endure what we must”- and, is this what they believe their prerogative to continue suppressing the rakyat without fear of the flabby muscles be one day flexed to show their strengths of rebound?! No one can predict, yet how long the emotional peoples can restrain themselves under the oppressive lid of the power that be?!
It’s a pity for the rakyat, that, we have to live in this environment of fears, fear to lose our freedom in speeches. fear to lose our rights, fear to succumb to the injustice, fear to face the tyranny, fear that our beloved Nation will one day turn into a junta rule of law………! As this mundane world is not permanent in life and everything, it is those who are respected and blessed by Heaven is to serve mankind in an honest and fair manner.
As history repeats itself with all leaders of the world who of the past and present cannot take back with them anything, only good or bad deeds. Even their own bodies are left behind. Only the ignorants and fools think otherwise.
So when alive and in power, rule with a compassionate heart in fairness and in empathy with the masses, not in hatred and biasness.

“I read that today 27 September is the birthday of Y.M. Raja Petra who as everyone knows is being incarcerated. This is a short message of support and gratefulness for what he has done for the nation, for all of us, at the expense of his freedom. A travesty of justice in the name of justice. Freedom sacrificed for the sake of freedom.
To wish Y.M. a “Happy Birthday” today, in my humble opinion, will not do any justice to him, to put it very mildly. There will be many well-meaning friends who will wish Y.M. so, as is the normal greetings on one’s birthday. But today is not a normal day for Raja Petra. He is sacrificing his freedom for our freedom.
