Happy Deepavali

Happy Deepavali to all my Indian Malaysian brothers.

Sorry for this late greeting, but I was on the road last 2 days and today, I was busy visiting open houses of my Indian friends and witha very bloated stomach from too much eating, I finally get a chance to sit down and post this greetings.

May the Festival of lights bring joy and happiness to all Malaysians.

Just to elaborate: I drove up on Saturday afternoon, closed my clinic for that afternoon, and reached Penang at around 6pm . Went to Penang Gerakan HQ at 6.45pm and had dinner with romerz and some Gerakan friends.

We had a very long discusssion from about 8pm to 1.30am the next morning, but due to the promise that since we want to have a very frank talk (including some very sensitive issues), we all agree that no one should blog about the content of the discussion (i dont call it a debate, but a very frank discussion, and i am sure romerz will agree).

Though we had a very different views on the direction, all of us actually had a common goal of seeing a better , fairer and more equal society . And I think both sides believe on the sincerity of the opposite sides in bringing out many issues and viewpoints.

I came back the next morning but stop at IPoh to do some shopping and eating, and due to tha lack of sleep the night before, I was practically exhausted and did not have the energy to blog. ANd this morning till now I have attended a few open houses, and only came back just now and blog on this late greetings to all Malaysians.

    Dr. Hsu,

It was good for you, romez and Gerakan friends to have frank talk on ‘sensitive’ issues. How nice if Umno can open their hearts and talk to you guys without having conditions like ‘subject to sensitivity’ and let do frank talking. But, I doubt that is going to happen.

So, even those Gerakan heads can be convinced of your logic (which many of us are convinced without much persuasions and talking), my next question is ‘so what’? Umno won’t listen to you at all.

Those newly elected MCA leaders are just the same. They condemned ISA during their assembly but come to parliament, they chickened out. The MCA leader named Wee even gave the excuse that parliament is not the venue for such ‘condemns’ but cabinet meetings and other occasions yes. Where is the logic for this? I thought parliament is the only place where ISA can be repealed or reviewed? Not cabinet.

In short, it is no point doing the talking as long as you guys are still in BN. But still, no harm talking. To me, with no offend, it is a waste of time. Gerakan and MCA heads won’t lead their parties pull out of BN. The have their own ‘rice bowls’ to be taking care of.

    Anyway, Happy Deepavali.

teongee, nice to meet you and hear your views on a number of things. Same with the other members who came for the discussion that night.

As I have said, we are all ordianary folks who wanted to see a better future, a place where people are treated equally and fairly and with better governance.

    Deepavali Vannikal

A time to find our path with the Light of good over evil.

A time to change for the better.

A time to turun padang…as there’s no advantage for anyone but a sincere service to be given and received.

A time to think and reform.

A time to move forward for all and not just self.

May we use this time to be close to our fellow brethens of all races as One Malaysian as a Bangsa Malaysia.
