I welcome the statement by the PM that he wants to be the people’s PM.
This is what is reported in the Star:
“I want to be the people’s Prime Minister. I am with the people and I will always be with them.
“I do not want formalities like the red carpet and bunga manggar or even media coverage (but) I want to see the rakyat,” he said.
He said looking at the real situation would give him a better understanding than just listening to briefings inside air-conditioned rooms.
I welcome this statement because as the top leader of the country, he has to keep his words. (There is a CHinese saying that a top leader cannot give false promise 君無戲言).
I hope he can look at the real situation in Perak, go to the ground and ask the ordinary people what are their views regarding the SIlver State.
He can hop onto any LRT or public bus and ask the passengers what they think should be done.
From my unofficial survey with my regular patients, over 90 % of the people advocate a fresh election in Perak.
He would probably get the same results as I did. If that is the case, I hope that he keeps to his words of wanting to be the people’s PM and pushes for a fresh state election in Perak.
To be the people’s PM takes more than just visiting Puduraya and doing away with red carpets and bunga manggar.
It means listening to the ground; it means caring for the people; it means acting in the best interest of the people.
It means going back to the people.

I am not sure what to make of Najib’s latest ‘I am 1 with the people’ statement. Is it similar to the spin on his ‘1Malaysia’ declaration? I do not understand how someone from such a privileged background wants to be 1 with me, an ordinary taxpayer, who has always made his own way in life but can no longer abide lies, spin and power abuse from those who squander our taxes. If he is 1 with me, he will know what to do in Perak, what reforms to make for a better Malaysia and end all forms of discriminatory practices against fellow Malaysians. He will truly be a Prime Minister for all Malaysians, irrespective of ethnicity. He will act, not just talk.

I always maintain, let PM prove himself. He has been appointed our leader already. He needs support to ride over the current woes in the country.
There are too many criticisms on him. I hope he can still weather the storms and find his way around to make an impact.

The era of slogan shouting contest started from Mahathir, then Abdullah Badawi and now Najib. The previous PM were King of their own right in screwing up Malaysia and in essence, are losers. Now, Najib, don’t emulate these losers and be winner even if you have to face tsunami in Perak.
This is the only chance left for you, as far as I, a non-Malaysian in concern.
Don’t listen to Mahathir. Read from the comments and you know he is not a Stateman in many Malaysian, Najib.

Najib is showing humility or humbleness. This is a good quality for leaders especially the CEOs. I do see good bosses eating with the workers in the canteen, maybe having a smoke in the corner with the boys, maybe doing small talk during lunch at coffee-shops. All these is good. At least he tries to stay in touch with reality, something which AAB failed miserably. Unfortunately, it is too late for him. The clock is ticking and the 3+ years more b4 GE13 is just round the cornetr. He doesn’t want to be known as the last PM from UMNO. He needs to run just to impress his audience.

It’s all a drama show advised by so-called expert consultant. It happened in the past and there is no reason not to suspect the same. All who sits in the power seat engages a consultant to advise them how to talk, what to talk, what type of noise to make right down to “physical”, how to stand while making noise, body language, so to speak.

Cilipadi,
There are good politicians whose characters don’t change over time or get drunk with power. Why?
Because it is the person’s character, morally upright and it shows before he sits in the power throne and when he is showered with power. These are rare politicians. If they love children, they show all the time and not just during election campaigns.
Sadly, there are too many hypocrites now, holding babies for cameras during elections, just to show “he or she” is “human” after all despite being a minister or a prime minister. See the difference?
Out of 365 days, a politician can be a monster but during the 2 weeks campaign, he “turned” human, loving his citizens, calling them brothers and sisters……crystal pure hypocrisy at its climax.
At my age, I have seen all types of hypocrites at the power of corridor. Some can’t even “act” and hypocrisy oozes out when it appeared in newspapers or TV.
There are some who don’t make time to visit old folks but when the vote comes, it’s visiting old folks, spoon feeding them. Sickening !!
Yeah, hold more babies…maybe some can learn a thing or two from these babies.

To clarify things. 1. I dont know KTK and I have never dealt with him. 2. I dont know know Gerakan and dont have friends in Gerakan (well maybe one and he died last year).
So, How can I have personal vendetta against KTK and Gerakan.
But what I cannot suffer are :
1. I cannot stand to see a political party with great ideals being subverted and prostituted to do things that so should be against its nature
2. I cannot stand to see the members of Gerakan standing by and do nothing.
3. I cannot stand to see the leaders (led by Koh Tsu Koon) subvert and corrupt the ideals of the party
4. I cannot stand and see the people living in its glorious past of Lim Chong Eu. Past is past. We have the present to live.
By right, Gerakan with its ideology can contribute so much. But due to its weak, nay, compromised leaders, it is reduced to an insignificant fly.
I have no vendetta. I just want to invigorate the readers.

a side track. I am hearing snippets of discussions on scorch earth actions. Some of us can count the votes. I think BN and ahemno can do so just as well if not better.
What do you think they will do if they figure they will loose in the next election.
When Napoleon Bonaparte invaded Russia, the Russian kill the animals and burnt everything, grass, hays, barns and moved East. The scorched earth actions was to deny Napoleon food, shelters and fuel in the Russian winter.
Now, if these people can count the days, three year is not a long time to spend the money in the kitty. Projects and projects. You know what i mean. The next govt may not have much left.
Is it possible? I dont know. But the missing files in Selangor and missing Balkis money may be indicators.
It will be interesting to know if others are hearing some thing like this.

Some amongst UMNO/BN have realized there is a very real possibility they will be out of office by the next GE hence their dogged attempts to stay in power in Perak and elsewhere.
This is their last chance at stuffing their pockets with taxpayer’s money. Watch out for dodgy, useless and over inflated projects over the next few years.

Please tell your president that whatever chances he had to salvage a bad situation is now gone because he chose to procrastinate once again and lost the many opportunities thrown in Gerakan’s way to step away from UMNO/BN and do the right thing for the country.

What you mentioned is very real. In ancient China, the defeated emperor brought their ill gotten wealth along to their graves.
There are some ways to soften the impact. Romerz said this “This is their last chance at stuffing their pockets with taxpayer’s money.” The answer is lying in there.
As a non-Malaysian living in Malaysia for so long, I know the wealthy states, Selangor, Perak and Penang. The easiest to take back is of course Perak since the different in seats is the narrowest. But, instead of winning back a crown, they got shits so far. They are still in illusion that they got crown, not shits. The longer they hold on to the crown, the shits will be snow-balled, investment money from people like me stopped, company makes losses, and no tax paid.
cilipadi’s advice to Amno is to go for snap election. If not, the shits will snow-balled to national level, and 13th GE is imminent then.
For those in Gerakan or BeEnd, you guys have long lost your representations. Your votes are depending on Amno. It is now you can save your master, and of course yourselves, by pulling out of BeEnd. It is now, or never.
The root cause of these messes is “MORALITY”. You guys are lacking in it, or none at all.

The `silver’ debacle has dragged too long with both sides fighting toes and nails to head the state government with no clear solution in sight.
Both sides have their prides, motivations and self interests to look into ….forgetting their pledges and duties to work and serve the best interests of the State and its rakyat.
One side won the election with tainted and questionable candidates and another side claimed and snatched victory by inviting these (?) assemlymen to crossover. Hopefully, this is not a new trend where we promote people to seek election and be rewarded by frogging over.
The recent Bukit Selmbau election saw so many candidates eyeing to be its assemblyman.
THe people of Perak wants a new election and will their voices be heard and their interests be considered?
Will new good quality candidates be fielded?
Will Nizar continues to be MB if DAP fielded a Malay candidate and won?
Will Pas stay with PR if offered MB in partnership with BN?
Will there be crossvers again?

HRH the Sultan of Perak is not to be blamed by the public. It is AmNo and specifically “the one” must be blamed for suggesting the appointment of Zambry as the mentri besar when the rightful mentri besar has not lost his position.
Zambry is also guilty for agreeing to be sworn in when the mentri besar post is not vacant.
AmNo should have at least go back to the ADUN at state assembly sitting to get the no confident vote on the MB B4 seeing the Royalty….

Good story but looks like the imam guy followed the Tibetan style. Actually some Chinese do this to their toddlers too, maybe out of fun or curiousity but certainly not with a fool proof accuracy.
I just got back from the BUM2009 event and looks like the “old horse” is going back to the people, accepting talks at small events everywhere.
About 200 people attended the day-long event and the old horse is still like a magnet to crowds, the highlights of the forum.
Nothing spectacular but the old horse has mellowed down since stepping down from the ivory tower of power and more exposed to ordinary people, feelings and aspirations despite certain fixed mindsets on power play.
“The hardest thing for a politician is to keep his mouth shut,” he said, referring to his fiery vocal criticisms against the “sleepy administration” of his previous successor. “And once it’s opened (mouth), it’s difficult to keep it shut,” he added.
As I have said before, political barons do become a little “bit” human once the glistening power begins to wear off. But the old horse is the TOP blogger when the number of hits is accounted for. The content is something else.
He is a bit closer to the bloggers because like he said, “If I can’t fight them, it’s better to join them.”
And blogging is the peoples’ new weapon now. Irreversible.

I have an interesting story. It shows how the red tape and corruption in the country is ruining the economy.
The first story is about a SMI businessman whose business is packaging oil products. This gentleman is the ideal taxpayer – paying his dues for 30 years. Today, he felt really screwed by the government.
He complained that he has to deal with 14 government agencies including Income Tax. ON top of IRD, he need to pay off many people to do business:
– Licensing board
– local authority
– Environment
– Bomba
– Human Resource Ministry
– Health
– etc
You all know the greasing practice to facilitate getting the licenses and permits. The poor guy spend a lot of time running from agency to agency.
This is in contrast to the guy who steal oil palm fruits from Sime Darby’s oil palm estates. He need to deal with one agency – the local police. Kow tim the local policeman and he will advise the estate manager to drop the case of the guy if he got caught. This “business” can generate 1-2K RM a night.
The SMI businesses are getting screwed. Why bother? There are other simpler ways of making a living.

It was good for this old horse to be in the party this time around for very simple reason, he provides ‘leverage’ to other bloggers. At least, in future, if bloggers are implicated or intimidated by the powerful, they can point fingers to this old horse, by arguing, if old horse can do, why not I?
The number of hits one blog got is very deceiving. Its popularity may not be commensurate with the quality in comments. That’s reflects the ‘sincerity’ of one’s writings, that also differentiate between a quality and a pariah one, a dignified and not dignified.
If the old horse has Malaysian interest at heart , he should recommend in dissolution of Perak Assembly and go for fresh election, instead of telling people that if BN opts for election, they sure to lose in it, and thus should go for confidence vote instead.
My stand is still don’t just look, must look carefully, i.e. “yau ghan, yau chi”. MORALITY is still the key here.
Take a survey and you know how people regard this old horse. People can keep on shoe polishing, but frequent polishing will course the shoe to wear off faster. Malaysia is certainly lack of Statesman. This is how I see Malaysia as an independent non-Malaysian.

But on hindsight, old horse said that he never had the need to call editors during his time. He of course was right (most of the time). Why?
Because he had MCA stooges (as deputy ministers to the home ministry) doing the dirty work for him, either probably out of shoe polishing or pleasing the old horse.
It comes to mind that there were two “distinguished shoe polishers or toe lickers) in the MCA, of course. I remembered one deputy home minister when old horse was “the” Home Minister who had this habitual fetishism reporting to his party meeting (also to show he was a damn good deputy minister to his political boss) what he had done to “control” the mainstream Chinese press.
When this deputy minister (home affairs) was promoted to full cabinet minister, another guy from the same party took over, also as deputy in the same ministry…..doing exactly the same role, calling Chinese editors to tread carefully or showing displeasure because the news report was too critical of either the party itself or the government.
To cut it short, the old horse probably never knew or “pretend” not to know that his stooges had done the “forced censorship” for him. Giving the benefit to old horse, now he had this perception that the mainstream newspaper “always” knew how to do self-censorship.
In all probability, his stooges like the two deputies had always called and this can be testified by those editors who received such calls.
One deputy home minister (at that time) later became president of his party and he is the worse. He even recommended one reporter of a Chinese press (on contract) to be sacked. Why?
Because that poor chap in his reporting gave credit to another minister (of another party) instead to the deputy minister’s party president.
So when this party now hails press freedom, who will believe it when its party history is tainted with such behaviour of its leaders in government, loving polishing shoes at the expense of press freedom.

Let’s history judge this old horse. There are just too many ‘untouchable’ in your country that criticism in good faith may not be welcomed, and may invite trouble. This, perhaps is the fear factor embeded in these editors’, stooges’ hearts. Things can be easier explained in hindsight, or better excuses can be offerred. Only themselves know the real answer.
The thing is, “truth will prevail”, if not, there is no such term “Universal Law of Nature” founded by the Great Gautama Buddha.

Let three years to come. Let the people be the judge. Gerakan will survive for another decades to come. People have given a choice now. History will tell us who is right or wrong.

And that also includes agreeing how gerakan handle the perak issue including Chang Ko Youn being exco to MB Zambry.

i do not know you . even if I know you I cannot reveal in public as i have made an oath. And as a person believes in promises, I wont even reveal it even if I resign fromt he party.
Especially when there is a plot in KL trying to push me out from the party without a fight ( i was forewarned by an insider) , and i really do not know whether you or anyone else is from those plotting..I can only reveal that I am being systematically marginalised in KL through the state sec (under instruction perhaps)……I am in fact no threat to anyone, I even turned down to be KL chairman…
The ultimate Act is of course resign and go… but while there is still a big faction of people asking me to convey their opinion to the meeting, I can not ignore those who have elected me and those who have asked me to convey message up . …That is why I made a statement without the sanction of the leaders, which in MCA or PPP or MIC would have seen me expelled.And I m prepared to be expelled when I made the statement, even though the statement has not harmed Gerakan in anyway..
An analogy.. If you are a Malaysian, and you are not agreeable to some of the policies, and people outside Malaysia asked you to migrate, you do just give up and migrate. You will try to use your vote to change FIRST.
But voting comes once in 5 years (party once in 3), so in the meantime, if you are a person capable of speaking and writing, what you can do is to join NGOs and voice out. Pile on the pressure..Then wait for the time to exercise your vote. Even though in the mean time, you may be laughed at by other nationalities as part of the subservient Malaysians.. (that is how part of the Singaporeans are viewing us).
But when the voting comes , you can copntest or you can support any group that you think will be better. When all is lost, then perhaps the option for you may be to quit being a Malaysian and migrate.. In the mean time , you have to tolerate people attacking you for beiing part of the social contract, even though you have nothing to do with it and you have not subscribed to it.
So while the easy way for me is to just quit and dissociate myself from the bad decision ( and not be attacked by people everywhere), (just like many malaysians who migrated without a fight and avoided being called subservients by some Singaporeans), I will do it by calling my own shots and not being pushed out by disguised commentators out to target me ( not that I think you are one). The disguised commentators are of few groups: the one form KL, the cyber troopers who are paid to see dissidents out of the party(as well as other compoent parties) from the Big brothers, or even from Special B…..

Maybe you can consider yourself like a worm in Gerakan or BeEnd stomach that will cause them to purge as and when they say or decide on the wrong things.
You are one very rare person that joining BN parties not for ‘khang tao’ but for its ideology. This is the reason why your loyalty is to its ideology and not loyal to the leaders like what many BeEnders are. Once a person is seeking for ‘khang tao’ when joining a political party, the problems of factions within party, holding a position for as long as s/he wants to, political patronage, and money will be there for sure. Such problems will forever be there and this is what we see in Umno and its cohorts.
A person like you can afford to do like what ex-MCA minister Datuk CK Hon do (happily enjoying himself clicking camera all over the place. Justin Choo is crazy over his photos, haha), but you choose otherwise. This alone, you earn many respects from us.

What is right or wrong? Are we really moving the party toward greater height? maybe it is time to reflect what they have contribute to the party? Whether PR or BN can do a better job to govern our country? Let the people decide. The choice is in their hand. Even politicians have to think twice coz the eyes is watching them. Are we satisfy with the policies put forward by PR or BN? It depend on which side we feel that can play a fair and just way.
Even Singapore have a tough time nowsday with the openess and intellectual younger generation. Have we really change our system from within? No doubt in any party, they bound to have certain percentage of dissent. It depend on the capabilities of the leadership. Let hope rational and logical mind prevail.

When I read Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement that he is against a snap election in Perak because he fears that Pakatan Rakyat might win the election, I was amused.
Whilst he is entitled to his opinion, he should also realise that his statement does not reflect the views of the Perak voters and Malaysians in general. Sometimes, I am confused at what Mahathir is reaching at.
Being a statesman, he should have said that the best way out of this political crisis is to hold a fresh election and not undermine the desires of the rakyat and voters. He should also stop giving slanted views in the media that inflame the feelings of the rakyat.
The simple question that ought to be asked is how could any government with equal number of seats, in this case 28 from Pakatan Rakyat and 28 from Barisan Nasional ever rule a state and serve the people effectively?
The three tainted ‘political frogs’ that jumped ponds, became independent and caused this problem should be discounted for their position in the state assembly and only stand as independent members.
Unless they crossover to BN, only then can we then safely say that the BN has a simple majority in the Perak assembly. We don’t have to be an Einstein to understand that in Perak where the assembly is equally represented by two political groupings, it is a hung government. H
ow on earth can a hung government ever function effectively and serve the state and its people?
So to suggest that a snap state election is costly, a waste of time and that BN would lose is nothing more than giving lame excuses. It is fundamental that in any democratic system, the will of the people should prevail.
There is no way any right-thinking person would ever buy Mahathir’s opinion. He is merely attempting to influence the people with his obsolete gimmicks and it does not in anyway contribute to solving the crisis faced by Perakians.
The wisest thing that BN and Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should do is to uphold the fundamental principles of democracy in its true sense and support the call for a fresh elections and allow the people of Perak to decide once and for all on who should govern the state and serve their needs.
By doing so, BN would perhaps salvage it’s sinking image and gain some recognition. By not heeding to the wishes of the people, BN is heading towards a disastrous consequence. It is better to take one step backward and take two steps forward later.
It is also shocking to see the PM – who was solely responsible for the crisis in Perak – kick the ball into the Sultan’s court. How on earth can this be accepted from the person who created the crisis?
Why ask His Majesty the Sultan of Perak to decide on the political crisis which was created by none other than Najib himself? It should be Najib who should take the lead and join forces with Pakatan to seek the dissolution of the state assembly.
It appears that Najib is too embarrassed to admit his mistake or fearful of losing the state to Pakatan Rakyat. If he has a heart for the rakyat and is truly a ‘people’s prime minister’ as he wishes to be known, he should support the dissolution of the Perak state assembly and call for a snap election.
Winning or losing is part of the democratic system and process. With the controlled media, a government-friendly Election Commission and a massive election machinery at his disposal, he should not even doubt for a minute on the strength of Barisan Nasional in wresting control of Perak in a snap election.
I would urge the PM to give it a fight and let the voters of Perak decide once and for all. It is a waste of time, energy and money fighting this impasse in the courts. The public opinion generated in this crisis does not favour the BN and does not auger well for the democratic system of governance in Malaysia.
The longer this crisis continues, the more it would adversely affect this nation and its democratic system. The best judges are none other than the voters and it is of cardinal importance that their wishes be respected.
The courts cannot be the best judge in this crisis and neither can it usurp the rights of the voters. Critics of the courts have questioned the legitimacy of the court’s activities and the propriety of the courts in intruding upon the legislative and executive functions.
This crisis would cast a dark shadow on our judiciary if it were to act contrary to democratic values or intrude upon legislative and executive functions. The courts should respect and guard Malaysian constitutionalism and not be swayed into making interpretations or common law decisions that would have far-reaching implications on the very foundation of our democracy, legislative bodies and executive functions.
Judges come and go but their decision stay. I urge for common sense to prevail and let the people of Perak decide through the ballot box even if this means that the government has to spend a few million ringgit for elections.
