Punishing twice for the same offence

The person who was involved in the dvd scandal is going to appear before a disciplinary board of his party.

I have written about him when the dvd scandal broke and i have praised him , not for the act of cheating his wife (that act must be condemned) , but for admitting that he was the actor in the dvd. I also thought he did the honourable thing to resign as minister of Health( refer to my post : Chua did the honourable thing) .He was, i was told, one of the best Ministers of “Hell”, and one of the better ministers in the cabinet.

I also  thought he should  retire after that episode and that one with such a blemish should not seek public office again. But I was surprised when he went for the no 2 post, and won.

Being the no 2. of the no 2 party, i thought he would be given a government position, and I thought , alas, a person with such a blemish should not be in public office again, even though we must admire his courage for owning up his role in the dvd. He could have said that ” it looks like me, sounds like me, moves like me, but not me!” and that would have saved him like the “correct-correct-correct” character.

He was not given a government position of course, and i thought that was the correct decision.  That however, sown the seeds of a party fight, especially in a party known for factionalism and infighting.

This dvd actor has tremendous grassroots support. It is natural that the  no. 1 man  would feel threatened. So it came as no surprise that the NO.2 man is now being hauled up before the disciplinary board to answer charges regarding the scandal.

What surprises me is this:  How could a person be charged for the same offence twice? He has already faced the disciplinary board for the same offence last year, and  the board recommended no action be taken, since he had already resigned from all positions in the party and government at that time.

How come he is now being hauled up to face the disciplinary board again for the same offense? It is like a teacher who had punished a student for talking in the class 2 weeks ago suddenly punished him again for the same offence , even though he did not talk in class now. IT is like a thief having his right hand being chopped off for stealing now suddenly facing the prospect of his left hand being chopped off , for the same offence after a lapse of time. This sort of punishment, i thought, was not usual in most democratic countries.

BUt when it comes to power struggle here, it seems that anything can be done to consolidate one’s power. Welcome to Malaysia, the Land of the Possible !!

It is not double punishment in this case as the former President was OKT. It was forgive and forget as afterall, Dr C was not a deputy with strong grassroot support. Now the scene is different with OTK as President and having a strong deputy that does not toe the line in view of strong grassroot. Dr C thinks that he can be a better President with big brother support in bn.

So, as they said in politics there is no permanent friends nor foes. Let the better man wins the game of Presidency but I’ll still vote against them (bn) anyway.

Its the same in Gerakan isnt it? Lots of power struggle here and there and even in DAP, PKR and PAS….this is politics

Chinese saying : Follow my way, you will survive…go against me, you will die.

Its the survival of the fittest…..and of course there are lots of “running dogs” too which are actually lallangs who will go where the wind blows.

No excuse for CSL but hope he fights back….its thrilling to see MCA in battles again internally and thats the biggest help for PR in GE13 which will see the demise of BN…esp Gerakan and MCA.

For Gerakan to get up again in Penang, well…should be practically nil….and for MCA…Johore will fall too.

OTK is setting CSL a big trap and is bitting at him not letting go but of course he is sly to pass all the bucks to his machai to do the shit for him.

Dr. Hsu. I dont agree with your view.

Personally, I think CSL and his supporters in the Mana Cari Ayam party should be purged from the party. If it want to be able to stand up and be counted, it cannot allow a faction supported by Ahem No inside. This faction is a fifth column. Its purpose is to weaken the Ayam party.

This has nothing to do with justice or fairness. This is politics at its dirtiest but it is needed. It is to kill or be killed. This is what had been in Chinese History for the last few thousand years. A high stake game. A strong leader who want to exercise independence when necessary must do this. He cannot allow a fifth column in his camp.

The previous leaders were to scared to do this. The current one is willing to test his fate.

On the other hand look at Gerakan and KTK. He is putting his head between his legs.

    monk,

“Strong” grassroots support to such a “man”? What’s wrong with these grassroots?

This is a case of “morality” is not important in politics, as what many people believe. Definitely not me.

    Dignity gone, how to lead?

Is OKT strong enough to purge CSL? Don’t be like Kayveas who kicked out Murugiah from PPP for even daring to think of standing against him for President and end up with egg on his face.

Kayveas’ position is shaky now as Umno seems to be siding with Murugiah. According to a malaysiakini interview with Chua Jui Meng, CSL has Umno’s support. Quite believable as CSL was appointed BN coordinator in PR states.

It doesn’t seem like a good time for OKT to test his strength. Umno may be upset with him over his handling of PKFZ.

Not that a change of leadership will rejuvenate MCA. I’ve attended PKR functions and seen a lot of young Chinese. I’ve seen pictures of MCA functions and the attendees are all past middle age. Any party which can’t attract the young is a goner.

I heard some people in UMNO are after OTK, because of the PKFZ report. There is nothing for OTK to loose anyway.

    1. Do nothing – he and MCA will be gone
    2. Dont kill CSL – he will be gone and MCA subverted
    3. Kill CSL – some chance for him and MCA to survive.

So option 3. – kill CSL.

Anyway Malaysian are fools. By the time election come, many people will forget.

OTK mentioned external and internal forces trying to get rid of him.

External forces are some of those from BIg Brother who somehow may be involved with the PKFZ.

Internal forces are the dvd actor of course and his hordes of grassroots.

The external and internal forces are ganging up to push oTk out . Once he is out, the no 2 man will become no. 1.

So there is going to be a vicious fight no doubt…..Afterall, what is another fight after so many in their history, read one of my articles ( I forgot which one in which I chronologically described all the fights in te party). Gerakan also had some fights but not as bad… But maybe that is a case of 50 steps laughing at 100 …. 🙂

It’s all a sandiwara orchestrated by OTK whipping up slogans of threats. OTK if under threat (with proof or evidence) he would have gone to the police station to lodge a report. It is because he is acting a stage play, he coiled back and has nothing to report to the police.

Remember last year when someone came out with a list of properties alleging he owned the properties, he wasted no time in lodging a report accompanied by a Hainanese high ranking policeman from BKT Aman to the PJ police station.

Why must he sit back and allowed Opposition LKSiang to lodge the police report? And there is no further response from him?

It is all a tactic. Today he quickly left the meeting room like a running headless chicken avoiding to face the press for fear of a battery firing of questions after the presidential council meeting.

When he was in Team B and Ling the leader of Team A, OTK refused to obey the “gag order” but today he set his leadership telling the press that there is a gag order on members and leaders NOT to tarnish the party’s image NOW that he is president.

If the member or leader praises him, then no problem. What rubbish is this? And everyday the MCA HQ publicity department send out 2 to 3 public statements complaining about BN’s policies or suggesting recommendations to the BN government of which MCA IS part of the government. Can you see how ridiculous it is.

MCA can criticised the BN government of which OTK himself is part of that set up and he said MCA must be independent and leaders must have the courage to speak up but he imposes a gag order against his critics including CSL’s supporters in criticising his leadership. PURE hypocrisy.

Anyway, MCA should be voted out regardless of the leaders at the next GE. OTK has proven to be another long lineage of leaders willing to hide under the sarong of his political master.

No wonder the joke. Ordinary men play football. Middle class men play ping pong but men in power plays golf. Why? Because their balls shrink smaller as the ladder goes up especially those in power. The higher they go, the smaller their balls.

Cilipadi, well, this is a dog eat dog world and big fish eat small fish.

Morality has rarely been practised or consider an important integral part in practical politics.

Like Kim said, kill or be killed.

That’s down to earth in politics.

But down to earth also means be prepared to face the karmic force.

The big quake is coming….I think and that’s nothing to do with morality, sure only collective karma. Let’s see.

And I wonder OTK can last more than 3 years. Something is going to happen……

Oh Cilipadi, forgot to tell you, I am moving again to another new pasture after discovering that the pasture I am in, belongs to a powerful landlord who expect the cows to cow down to loyalty and toe the grass.

No wild horses and mad cows allowed. Must pull the cart slowly and with loyalty. Cannot wash the ass openly and no criticisms against the landlord.

So I am moving out after 3 months grazing here. Life has to move on. If the northern part is polluted, must move east now.

    monk,

Immoral begets immoral. The vicious cycle is going on and on in this dirty political struggle. As you said,

“But down to earth also means be prepared to face the karmic force.”

The choice is their hands, with or without moral.

Anyway, good luck to your new pasture. East is nice…..

Why is that so strange Dr Hsu?

I’m sure you have realized that fair-play does not exist in Malaysia, especially for the common folk, but it is all about hanging on to power.

The simple fact is CSL did not keep his part of the bargain. He did not stay out of politics after he was given a “slap on the wrist”.

So now he must be finished-off! Since he is a threat, real or perceived by the head honcho!

As will you eventually unless you win! If I were power hungry and had the machinery to do so, this course of action would have been the most logical to me.

Tough isn’t it Doc, when we think that others operate along the selfless lines we take for our country.

Ours is a thankless job but we must keep at it otherwise the country loses, not you or me, with our limited time on this earth!

The initial postmortem report revealed that Teoh Beng Hock was murdered by MACC.

    (1) He was pronouced dead at around 8 to 9 am. But MACC claimed they only heard a big sound at 1.30 pm and then found his body.

    (2) His handphone is not with his body. Teoh was either still under the custody of MACC or someone removed the phone from his dead body.

    (3) The latch of window in leval 14 where MACC office is located found at the floor of level 5.

    (4) The body is not facing down unlike normal suicide from tall building. This pointed to he was already dead when he was falling down.

    (5) The blood stain is abnormal little. This is another sign to show that he already dead before falling down.

    (6) His pants were torn. His pants incidentally hooked to window latch before his body was forced out.

    (7) The timber door at MACC main entrance was shut down from 1.15 to 1.50 pm. This 45 minutes duration is mostly the body was pushed out.

From these initial findings, my conclusion is he was murdered inside the office at 8 – 9 am before his dead body was threw out from level 14 at 1.30 pm.

If CSL appointed as full minister, would MCA and OTK face less criticism especially from the morality perspective, and we know well morality is one of the most frequent/lavish used term/aspect in Hsu blog. MCA grassroots make a destruction decision to select CSL as number 2 thinking that life will go on as usual whereby both camp will continue to treat them as kingmakers and find ways to please them not knowing that the change of sentiment from the ground mass. The MCA grassroots is a true obtuse grass eater who can’t trace roots of problem facing by their party. It is now a good time for this grass muncher to find a job and get a life before obliterates into oblivion.

In my personal opinion, OTK did reasonably well in the handling of PKFZ scandal.

    Klm,
The decision was to form a committee to observe him. The committee did not review the case as reported in the press, since to review it , we need feedback from the 3 men committee.

As to 5th column, i am sure in evry party there are fifth column…… even in opposition…

Remember , even in the days of the MCP, one of their top leaders were from our SB, the rest is history.
