message from a gathering

Last Saturday, I took the 5.50pm Firefly flight to Penang for my Chung Ling High School Class of 69 40th reunion dinner. Yes, I am that old, and I finished my form 5 in 1969, the year of the May 13.. Why I said so is because when I told some of my members that I am going for a 40th reunion, none believes … They think I look younger than my age… I think they must be polite to say so…Anyway, age is only how you feel inside yourself, and if you are at ease inside your heart, and have not done anything against your conscience, you will feel young inside, no matter how is your external appearance.

I normally drive up to Penang, because if you are in Penang and you have no transport, it is very difficult to get around, as cabs are few and they do not use the meter.

This time, I took the Firefly as I have to rush for time, since I have a CC meeting in the afternoon..

I reached Penang at around 7pm, and reached Penang club where the reunion dinner was held at 8pm.

It was a nostalgic meeting and get together, seeing so many of my classmates and form mates.  For some of the classmates, it took me some time to remember their names; I hope it is  because for too long we have not seen each other, and not  because of my brain getting old and atrophic..:)

Invariably, we touched on the political situation in Penang as well as the whole country. Not a single one whom I have met has any nice things to say about BN, and most say that they will give PR another term come the next GE.

I believe BN has only itself to blame for this situation, and in Penang, everything  that the State Gerakan is trying to hit at DAP,the salvo, like boomerang,  invariably  hit back at them.

If they talked about LGE’s residence, the people would ask about Toyo’s and Zakaria’s ‘palaces’. If they talked about poor rubbish collection, people invariably asked about what happened before 308– the same rubbish problems have existed. Same with transportation and so on.

I think Penangites will give another chance for the opposition to rule because they think one term is too short a time..  And another point is most Penangites now want a 2 party system. That is the message I gathered from the gathering.

There is only one way to go for BN. A radical change to cut out all the cancers, and dump a corrupt and racial culture, improve efficiency, adopt meritocracy, be transparent and accountable. It is that simple, but what is lacking is the political will.

…………………………………

On Firefly, I was at first quite taken aback when I saw the ATR planes used by Firefly. Those of you who have followed the Air Crash Investigation series of National Geography channel must have seen the shows talking about the crashes of the ATR.

But Iwas pleasantly surprised that the ride was very smooth and the seat comfortable, and even for a sixfooter like me, I have no problem sitting comfortably for the short one hour flight.

The best thing was of course you can travel from Subang, a stone throw from where I stay in PJ, and save time and money going to KLIA….The journey going to klia will be longer than the flight.

    Dr Hsu,

Why waste your time attending CC meeting? You should spend more time with your old buddies in Penang. Hopefully, they might convince you to say sayonara to Gerakan.

Just took my granddaughter to the Government clinic for the routine check-up. In the small clinic there were 10 nurses, all “bumiputras”. As you know, when you walk into a Government dept, it’s like entering another world. To add insult to injury, they accused the Chinese of not interested in Government jobs. My wife during her younger days applied for one but sorry she is not the correct colour. And to spit on our faces, MCA agreed that Chinese are not interested; not that they are not employing Chinese.

Sounds racial. But not me. It’s a glaring FACT.

Kick them OUT as soon as possible!

    Dr.Hsu,

Settle back in Penang. Penang needs people like you. If you do not want to join PR, remain independent, that would be fine but contribute to bring back the sparkle Pearl Of The Orient Penang.

Let us start with one State and hope that other States will follow.

For now, PR is still trying to do its best but I hope Penangnites must understand the situation that PR is facing. We cannot hang PR by the rope just because we are holding the vote in our hands and demand this and that without considering the whole effect on others and the State.

I stand with your old friends that PR should be given a longer term to prove their worth. If you can wait so long and then meet again for old times sake, then the reason for giving PR a longer term is very justified. After all, we had suffered for 52 years and now we have a chance, why not give the chance the time and power to prove to us? I cant see anything worse than the 52 years under BN rule.
I am from Selangor and will give another term too to PR but if PAS is so defaint and so stubborn and continues to try to be a racial hero of their own…then guess less Pas SAs or MPs will be returned and maybe a bigger BN opposition may surface. Nevertheless, PR shall continue to rule in Penang and Selangor and Kelantan. We shall see to that and I will come out to helpto realise that.
Its time for you Doc to take stock of what Gerakan is doing esp in Penang in the KBP issue and your president who goes in thru the back door after earlier told the world he will not do so…what a big bluff.
So guess probably getting the exPPP Murugiah with his so called 150k members/followers will at least boost up the manpower for Gerakan but unfortunately will make it sink even faster and go into oblivion forever.

    Dr Hsu,
I am very pleased to learn of the leaning towards a two-party system in a society of intellectuals. The learned elite, that’s what Penangites view most Chung Ling boys, but hey, make no mistake, it has also produced some big crooks along the way as well.

Read about Gerakan’s hunt for the next GE’s “ideal candidates” and the subsequent DPM’s telling off. His call to focus on party reformasi(?!) is laughable if not irritating.

Dr Hsu, if you were one of those identified, may I ask, would you stand?

You are one fair man with righteous principles. You, Sir, will make one great people’s representative, but I, like many others, cannot vote for Gerakan. To me, voting for Gerakan would mean endorsing BN’s thieving ways. There was a time when Gerakan stood for a more noble cause.

Some time ago, the simplistic reason to vote for MCA was, ‘if a Chinese don’t, who would’. And many did, and hence, the emergence of leaders’ children who in their early twenties miraculously, are multi-millionaires because of their good business sense!!! Has it not occurred to them that I really believe that it is the fengshui of being a politician rather than their brains. It must be the fengshui, as most if not all politicians cannot have such great genes. I know, you like many others believe that as well. But somehow, there must be this kink in their genes for they see not.

These genuises then dispense their two sens to their party loyalist, then sit back and laugh at the wonders this two sens can do. Oh what these people would sell their sorry souls for. This is representative of all BN component parties, having to pay for election workers, having to pay even for people to attend their dinners, compared to the PR’s who would risk life and limb to climb the tallest tree to proudly display their flags.

How intelectuals, like KTK can continue to be ‘misled’, and put his integrity on the line to fight for a cause that he of Chung Ling breed, should clearly see is a corrupt one. That is beyond my comprehension and I am not from Chung Ling. Unless, he is as crooked as well.

Sir, I would not like to think that all we read in the blogs, including yours, are lies. The vanishing billions, so very much needed by the country, are being siphoned away by just a handful of crooks for example, on the pretext of defense of the country, read submarines, promoting the country, read F1!!! Ably assisted by traitors of our nation.

We are fed all kinds of propaganda and are being “told lies by the opposition” but surely, we are not as blind or stupid as they make us out to be? So do we still need this DPM’s “party reform”?

Or shall we just simply clear them out at the next GE?

It may seem PR is fighting among themselve but that is normal for very new venture or partners. One interesting to note is when they come to by-election PKR, DAP and PAS are fully united. You can see it at all the by-election that has won by PR.

Many media comment PR will not win the Bagan Pinang by-election. From what I have observed their cooperation in Bukit Gantang and Permatang Pasir, I have strong feeling they will win the coming Bagan Pinang election.

Considering the fact the BN is racially motivated and PR is multiracial ideology, PR should be the choice of government forever, until and unless BN becomes clean and not racially motivated, only then we have more choices of government. I doubt BN will never be one, simply because Umno factor.

What is there to talk about 2-party system with one side so racist and the other multiracial?

Forget about Gerakan, they are buried as far as I am concerned, in Penang and Malaysia.

    A single vote,

I invite you to read my articles from end of 2006 onwards, the time i started blogging.. And you will know my stand with regards to the hypothetical question that you pose.

Chung Ling is a big school and has produced thousands of secondary school graduates…Inevitably, among many of its students , some will be good and some will be bad ones..Some are professors , some committed crimes as thieves , and some are fried kway teow hawkers, too..Like any other schools including the so called elite schools.

But Just because one apple is rotten does not make the apple tree bad…

CL is also not an elite school in the moulds of PFS, ST xaviers or MBS.. It is a school where students are from all background, poor students numbered more than rich, and many of them succeeded in their studies, but there are drop outs too.

If you have followed my blog, you would have known that all this while, i have been advocating a 2 party system as the basis for the country to move forward to join the rank of the developed democratic countries like US, UK, Canada, Australia etc..

without a 2 party system, entrenched culture of patronage and corruption cannot be changed effectively.

I have also advocated that Gerakan moves out from BN as far back as 2006..

But at the moment, looking at the political scenerio, I would say that BN is going to lose the next GE and the power to govern, and that is not necessarily a bad thing for BN, since that way,BN parties can really reform, like the kuomingtan of taiwan. It takes a loss in GE for that party to really change, and make Taiwan a model of a 2 party democracy.

Similarly, BN is going to lose, unless PR does something really stupid in the next 2 years. People whom I have met have all made up their minds to give the alternative a try….

So if BN is going to lose, the way i see it, Gerakan can be really transformed and reformed and so do the whole BN…

And that is important, because in a 2 party system, you let PR rule but at the same time, you also need a good opposition to play check and balance. Look at Chen Sui Bien of Taiwan. He became corrupted when kuomingtan was weak and reforming, and while the process of reforming took many years , Chen and his party became corrupted.

So at this stage , while I still hope that Gerakan can go out of BN, we also need to have some good people in BN, people like razaleigh, so that when it loses the Federal government, there will be good people to come forward to reform the coalition to make it a good opposition, so that it can provide a good check and balance. Then maybe if after 2 or 3 terms, PR does not perform too well, the people will have another viable alternatives, like what happened in Taiwan.

I have always tell my friends that we need to look beyond the next election and maybe at 15 to 20 years time. We should not be too partisan… And I have always played the role of trying not to be partisan… I was the first to come out a post to support eli Wong, one of the first to condemn Perak takeover.. one of the few asking people to vote for Anwar not for Anwar’s sake but for what he represented.. the hope of change.

We cannot be short sighted. But at the same time, we must not lose sight of our ultimate aim of supporting a 2 party system in the country..

You need black cats, you need white cats, so that you can choose the one that can really catch mice…. and you must have competition in order for the cats to be sharp and fast..

Otherwise, it would be like the past 50 years, the only cat became fat and greedy and know how to eat only but do not know how to do his job…

    atm,
    read my comment above..

If BN loses, it will change into a multiracial coalition…possibly through a merger.. because there is no more need to play race politics to get Kangdao, since there will be no more kangdao as opposition.

But we have to be aware that power corrupts and that whoever goes up there may become corrupt like Chen Sui Bien, or BN for the past 50 years.

Without a check and balance , absolute power will corrupt and corrupt absolutely , like the old horse..

So we need to learn from past experiences, and put a 2 party system in place. neither too strong that can kill each the other, and each compete with others to become the best… it is like meritocracy.. with maybe a small third force in between to play the role of what the Free democrtas in germany is doing, a balancing role, not to make each side too strong…

that will be ideal for malaysia, and believe me, it can happen in 15 to 20 years time. By which time, I will be dead, but you will still be around to see your children benefit from this.

What you said is true in regards to the 2 party system but as far as having a good opposition in Penang, Gerakan is not even an option.

Remember how they are pomoting for each other to be President of Gerakan even before they won any seat before 308? Embarassing…

Imagine, BN guys tore KTK picture off the wall in prime time news but days later he announce that these are his friend and they makan sama-sama. Make me sicker than H1N1.

    Dr. Hsu,

I am not so optimistic as you that Umno & BN will change in the event that they lose in the next GE. I would say they will continue to play racist politics against the PR government and try everything they can to destabilize PR government, instead of reform to be free of corruption, meritocracy, multiracial mentality, like what Kuomintang did to resurrect after losing to Chen’s party.

There simply no credible people around in Umno and BN to make reform possible. Just look at Kugan, Teoh Beng Hock, PKFZ, Mongolian model, and many more. How many of Umno and BN people stand up to voice out these injustices? Not even the ‘good’ people that you mentioned, perhaps except you. Furthermore, patronage politics mindsets are very much ingrained in these peoples. Many of these warlords are depending on these patronages to survive and many of them are at war among each other. Survival are their concern, not reform. Just imagine what would happen to them come next GE. As I see it, they are getting to scoop as much as they can this final round, before PR takes over.

I would expect the ultimate PR government will be facing problems inherited from BN government, as what we see now.

Before I could end this comment, another great news came in. Isa is being selected to stand for Bagan Pinang bye-election. You just see, how powerful is Umno local warlords? To them, it is survival matters. Who cares to reform? Let’s scoop as much as they can.

It is better for you to scout righteous people to form another multiracial base party, to act as the other party in the 2-party system that we hope for.

In 15 to 20 years time, if that can happen, we are consider very fortunate. You or me to witness this is actually secondary, so long as our aspiration achieved. So long as your blog are there as long as it can, many people are able to benefit from your writings, and they will know, once upon a time, there was a great thinker, who was reluctant to take position of power, existed before in Malaysia. By the time, you would have the last laugh. The last laugh is always the loudest, haha.

Whether or not they read and receptive of my comments in your blog or elsewhere, is immaterial.

I will be the happiest person in the world if Umno and BN can reform. I won’t see that happen.

Perhaps you still have a heart with BN,….. If you are not in Gerakan, you would have think like me. If you are not willing to join any other party, just leave Gerakan and be a normal person like me without party affiliation.

Many may think I am pro PR, but that’s only half truth. The whole truth, nothing but the truth is the ideology and 2 cats that they carry, i.e CAT in Penang, that won LGE government recognition by TI, and Selcat of Selangor.

If Umno can offer alternative good cat, I would sing the praises on them. So far, they can only offer rats. Just look at Isa. Can I sing praises on this guy? NOPE, NEVER.

It took umno 50 years to build a corrupted and inefficient regime..how long do you think they would take to dismantle it.

Say for example the inefficient civil service which is over staffed?? You can only employ new efficient guy to replace those on retirement. How long will it take to have a workable efficient civil service.

1 to 5 years will be a cultural shock.

Even if PR comes to power in the next GE, they just cannot dismantle it overnight. It will have to be gradual and educational of the public at large through indoctrination. This is where transparent media reporting plays an important part.

In my opinion, what can be dismantled in a short space of time are the Judiciary, macc and the police. With stringent laws in place and fear of these laws hanging over their heads, they will change fast.

In the main how do you change the mentality of a segment of society….how long does it takes and rate of response??

A simple anology.. Happened last year. A friend of mine frequently on outing out with his friend and most of the expenses were paid by this friend of mine for eating, drinking in pubs etc etc.. This went on for nearly a year until last november when this friend of mine told his friend to pay the bills. What happened next he had a great shock..his friend shout at him ” you have been paying all the time, pay mah..you think you got money. very big ah. He walk out.””

When he related the incident to me..I told him in a laughing manner…its NEP.

For true reform to take place, a 2 party system must be put in place. The current so called reforms by the ruling government do not deal with core issues that plague our society, they are barely cosmetic. Future reforms will likely be more of the same without the will to make radical departures from entrenched failed policies that failed to make us a better society.

But first, we have to change this government, it is a precondition of meaningful and lasting change.
Without this first step, we cannot move forward. Malaysia will then inevitably join the fraternity of failed states. Of this, I am in no doubt given the current moral paralysis in government. All of us in our 50’s have known a more just and less hypocritical system, even if materially poorer, and a return to more ethical values can start with political change. My old classmates from school, class of ’68, all embrace this concept by and large. We had experienced a better Malaysia in our youth.

    Take NS for example…

Isa is not on good terms with the present MB and certainly also not happy with najib and muhyiddin when action was taken against him on money politics.

Teluk Kenang malay voters are dissatisfied with the way contract are been awarded in NS. I was informned most of the major contract go the present MB’s brother…as such they have to put Isa into the state government to neutralise the present MB.

The present Aduns in NS were former Isa cows and when Isa win the by election I forsee he will gather his cows together and the same situation like Trengganu arises.

Political parties that have been beaten or whacked in election and reduced to nought and in the true sense do not die or dead as such. They are more or less Dormant and stagnant in thoughts and looses the sense of direction to take. They are in a limbo and what ever are said subsequently by the party leaders carry no weight, often inviting criticism. This is the norm

While hibernating, the clever and intellectual ones look for new ideas to give a breath of new life to the party. Looking for changes in the leadership styles if any and the possibility of changing the leaders if necessary. The party’s manifesto are reviewed to be in times with the requirement on the ground to furthen their base.

Study of the ground voters and their ideals and wanting of the form of governance they are looking for is important. The party must tailor their objectives to the ground requirement and not otherwise.

If KTK says Penang is a stupid place, he is actually refering to himself as the stupid donkey who destroyed lovely Penang I knew as a young boy.

I believe Gerakan still has capable leaders in the likes of Dr Hsu…(Not polishing ah) who talk sense but the party is dormant. There must be a complete change of leadership and reform if Gerakan wants to survive…but is heading to no where and what reform if any carried out.

Is Gerakan waiting for umno to reform and then follow suite.

As for MCA the party has gone and does not retain the rights to represent the chinese. The only advantage they have over Gerakan are the their visible service center, a wide base still available throughout the country. Gerakan has closed down many of its centers after the last GE.

However I believe all is not lost for Gerakan. Gerakan a multiracial party though predominantly chinese should be able to out manoeuvre MCA in the BN coalition. Make MCA redundant as race politics is becoming absolete…but it takes guts and a strong leader to do so???

Old habit dies hard. I noticed some comments still contain ‘racial’ slur like Chinese no more represented by MCA and Indian by MIC, Gerakan mainly Chinese though multiracial ideology and so on so forth.

I think all of us should throw away our mindsets of who represents who or who doesn’t represents who, then race parties like Umno, MIC and MCA will die of natural death and multiracial ideology parties will flourish. Only then, the survive politicians of multiracial mindsets will form the majority. Racial politics will become redundant from thereon. Important positions in the government will be filled on merit and not skin colours.

Lim Guan Eng and DAP as a whole sets a good example in this “colour blind” mindsets. You can see the trend of more and more Malays joining the party, and we should encourage this trend. Dr. Hsu can be one “engine of growth” to whichever party that he intended to join (hopefully). Gerakan and Umno are just stupid to ignore the potential of Dr. Hsu. Simple reason, they are still very racist in mindsets.

To those living in Subang, Do you know that the crime rate there has gone up 150%. This is one of the aftermath of the Kugan’s case. The people who suffered are the resident of Subang.

I heard of one case where a house was broken in twice in a month. The latest I have heard was that police no longer make visit to the house. They asked you to take photos of the break in and take it to the police station.

There was a side play to the Kugan story that most people were not aware of. The side play was
a clash between the police officer in charge of criminal investigation in Puchong district ( a senior Chinese officer by the way) and a DAP politician (now a state exco member). Before 308 election, the police was trying to shut a hen house in Puchong (with China girls and hidden doors). The DAP politician was trying to obstruct the operation and the police officer arrested this politician and charged him with with obstruction.

Fast forward, came the 308 election and this DAP politician became a powerful state exco. When the Kugan case occured, this DAP politician and the DAP guns came out firing at the senior police officer. At the height of the Kugan furor, the senior police officer was transferred out.

This officer was one of the most hard working officer and he really worked to clean up the crime in Subang. Unfortunately, the vengeful actions of some politicians have caused the current situation in Subang.

Many people were led on by politicians (by both side).

    klm,

This DAP self proclaimed HERO is nothing but a serial loser in Petaling Utara for past 2 GE. But he is the blue eye boy LKS and son. Thats the reason why he was chosen as EXCO. In fact he has not demonstrated any special skill except always in the fore front of camera be it big and small issue. This is a classic case of factionalism / favouritism at work in DAP. I have to comment this even though i am apolitical and have voted THIS GUY twice as i don’t think BN deserves my vote. I am far sighted though as early as 1980s.

Only idiots will still vote for BN.
Only idiots will still hope for BN to serve and protect them.
Only idiots will still think KTK is a noble man.
Only idiots will still buy the idea of Changing from within as advocate by so called Chinese Scholars.

    CYC,

There is always a black sheep in a family. Of course, if a family is full of black sheep, then, family with the lesser black sheep will still be in favour.

When Malaysian votes, they vote in accordance with party, not individual. Just counting which party has the lesser black sheep, then vote accordingly.

That’s what my argument on 2-party system. Both divides must be equally good for an effective 2-party system. Only then, we can vote according to individual candidate, not by political party.

For that matter, you maybe right. But, I do read somewhere this guy is a determined good guy as he still prevails after suffering so many electoral defeats.

Unless you can prove otherwise, I tend to believe he is a good guy. Like you, I am apolitical.

Sometimes when you make reference to a certain party you cannot run away from the fact that they are chinese, indians or malays and they are mentioned as such. Though we would like to be color blind as much as we want to, it will pop up in the manner and direction one is writing about.

When you talk about MCA and MIC can one be color blind. Both represent their own race and as such indian and chinese will be mentioned.

Who suffered.. the china dolls some of them locked up in apartment during daytime and at night sent to these fxxk shops for money. It also included some local chinese girls forced into prostitution. The police commented ” if you chinese want your chinese girls to be forced into prostitution, so be it.””

Nowadays how often you see police raiding these hen house. They will only act when there is a complain. Buat pun kena marah tak buat pun kena marah!!! If I am in their shoes might as well go for a good screw up.

The fact is MCA and MIC are past their shelf life. Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Iban, Penan, Bidayuh, Ah Kow, Ah Niao, Ali, Muthu, etc, etc,….do not need representations in the government.

This is the true vibrant diverse multiracial that I am talking about.

If Pakatan Rakyat still talking about “representation”, then they are not better than Barisan National. For that matter, people like Hasan Ali, Kulim MP Zul, and the recent PKR youth who suggesting rotation of Penang CM, should leave PR and join UMNO. That is if Umno still wants them.

    Greetings, Dr. Hsu.

I share your idealism for a 2 party system. The BN coalition is on its way out as it is too resistant to change and rub voters the wrong way even when public opinion is against it.

The aftermath of BN losing power will be a realignment of political parties. BN will not be able to survive in its present form as the component parties will no longer accept Umno’s big brother role when it has no more patronage to dish out.

It is likely that BN will be reduced to its core members – Umno, MCA and MIC. MCA and MIC being race based have nowhere to go and are still needed by Umno to maintain a multi-racial facade.

Gerakan will probably be wiped out in terms of seats and so will not be welcomed in PR. It may join with other multi-racial parties including some in E. Malaysia to form a third grouping.

So there may be 3 political groupings with a Gerakan-led 3rd force which has the potential to become an influential kingmaker between PR and BN.

This is where Gerakan can shine again to play a watchdog role to keep the two main parties in line. But not under this KTK. His toadying to Umno will ensure he will be swept out together with Umno’s power.

Perhaps Dr. Hsu will rise to play a prominent role in Gerakan by then?

When PR speaks of multiracial politics, does it mean color blind in the true sense of the words. I do not think so. In malaysian politics ultimately the race factor comes into play. Color blind is more appropriate to the administrative aspect, management and problems solving of the citizen’s problems where race is not taken into consideration.

As an example, PR in selecting a candidate for a constituency..made up of 70% malays and the rest others. Do you think DAP will fight for that constituency. It will be between PKR and PAS.

If the constituency is of 60% malays and 40% others, DAP will definetely fight for it. Even then DAP must think interms of race. If DAP has one million registered members and 30% of these are malays…and if DAP has been alloted a total of 50 constituencies throughout malaysia , 30% of it must be represented by malay candidates. This is where color blind comes into play during voting, the chinese will vote for the malay candidate from DAP and vice versa. Similarly Keadilan must also do the same.

In the job market we also cannot run away from the race factor. Yes we have been talking about meritocracy but we also have to be rational in our thinking. If there are ten vacancies, six must go to the malays and four to others..chinese, indian to reflect the correct racial composition. Of course all selected must be based on merits. This is the correct method and a useful principle rule but Unfortunately it is not so in the current employment particularly in the civil service and GLC and others where reforms are greatly needed. I should say they are bastard for not following the rule.

In education there must be totality in color blind and all those with merits must be selected.

How can the comment stands when the is only 3 million members of UMNO compared to more than 16 million Malays in the country. This is an UMNO decision and NOT a Malay one. A vast majority of Malays do not condone corruptions in any forms.

    Meng,

Don’t get me wrong. My interpretation of color blind does not me whatever institution in this country must reflect the composition of races in accordance with the population topography of Malaysia.

Mine color blind or multiracial ideology is more of mindset than ‘seen to be multiracial’ that formulated and propagated, as what we seen in Alliance and BN. Simple, BN is made up of various parties that claim representation of respective ethnics. They are ‘seen to be multiracial’ but in essence, they are racists. So, what is the point of insisting to have composition of race in various institution?

That is the reason why I said before that DAP is being painted as a racist Chinese party by the MSM as majority of its members are Chinese, they are seen to be racist, but in essence, they are colour blind or multiracial in mindsets. Slowly but steadily, Malays realise this fact, and we see the increasing trend in Malays joining DAP. Umno, indeed, is worrying about this. You can read further in here http://malaysiakini.com/news/113949

I myself has no complain if Civil Service is full of Malays so long as they have ‘color blind’ mindsets when dealing with fellow Malaysian of other ethnics.

It is my hope to see a Chinese Malaysian has a winning chance of being elected as MP or Adun in a Malay majority seat. I remember I proposed that to Dr. Hsu to contest in such seat to bring home to all Malaysians that we should be colour blind.

Vote someone that is capable and not someone of your own colour. This is the message I want to put across to all Malaysians.

    From Malaysiakini,

Karpal said (Penang Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng (right) has done a good job in Penang.

“He is liked by all, not only by the Chinese but also the Malays and the Indians. He is doing a good job not like his predecessor (presently Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department) Dr Koh Tsu Koon,” said the senior lawyer.

To questions on whether the Penang Chief Minister’s posts should be reserved for the Chinese community or should the position be awarded based on merit, Karpal feels that merit is the key.

“The DAP has the majority in Penang but a leader should be selected based on his/her merits. It is on merit as far as Penang is concerned at the moment,” said the senior lawyer.

“Guan Eng has done a good job and he is a capable man and that it why he is leading Penang.”

This is what I was and am talking about, Meng, colour blind and on merit.

atm ok I got your point.

“On Firefly, I was at first quite taken aback when I saw the ATR planes used by Firefly. ”

Hi doc why should you be worried with ATR planes. Turboprop planes are safe in the malaysian weather environment.

Has anyone heard of push start of turboprop planes…not really hand push lah but equivalent to it. If one engine fails to start on the runway the pilot will force start the failed engine by a hard run on the runway and the failed engine will start. Have seen it before…while the other planes will hold short of active.

I believe if the engine fails in midair a sharp dive will start the prop… hopefully not crashing into the ground lah.

For a sixfooter, it is excess baggage… firefly should levy excess charges on you.

My comment. You are right to say the powerful Exco has no control over the Police. But he can make life miserable for a police officer. After all, PR control the state govt. They can continue to raise ruckus. So much so that the person cannot do his job. I heard the replacement do not do any work. He switched off his phone after work. Subang is a merry ground for petty criminals.

Today’s news on the Kugan;s case mentioned the policeman responsible is also an Indian. An interesting twist to the story.

We can’t compromise for the sake of protecting the party per se. it is similar to you can’t ignore the bad deeds of one of your child as it will set a bad example to your other children.

DAP being a political party championing the ideals fairness and democracy based on competency, accountability and transparency (CAT) cannot condone such favouritism without taking into consideration of experience, proven ability and wishes of general public. After all, DAP does not belongs to LKS and son only. By doing so, DAP is no different from BN who operate in a feudal war lord system where there is only one absolute leader/king.

    CYC,

I did not even mention “compromise” or “bad deeds” in my earlier comment to you. I am not sure how you get the idea in this respect. If you were referring to DAP, then let them settle their problems. I have no say in this matter. Please do not liken this as one of my children as I do not like others to meddle with my family matters.

You are entitled to say anything about LKS & son & DAP, this is your rights anyway. What I can say is that LKS is one of the very few politicians that survive since our 1st PM, Tunku Abdul Rahman. That is the track record that no one can emulate. That perhaps make you think DAP belongs to LKS & son. But, I don’t see it that way.

I can’t comment on favouratism since I am not in DAP and I don’t meddle in people’s family affairs. It’s best I leave it to you to make your own conclusion. If you are a Gerakan member, perhaps you are in better position to compare it with DAP.

It is common for people to feel jealous about other people doing better than his own, but, this is simply not for me. If others are better than myself, I congratulate them, and I try to learn from them.

In this very unstable political scenario, Malaysians must learn to understand->
not to brand all Malays with UMNO &
not all Malays are in UMNO now.

Today, you dont know which Malay belongs to what party.

    Quoted from above

This is very disturbing statement from P.Dev Anand Pillai, what was his intention?
All 16million Malays accepted this corruption as a way of Life.

    UMNO claimed having 3million members.
As we have been observing past 25years,
in a Cawangan there are about 15-20pax
active in the party, thus about 4,000 to 5,000
active real members in the country.

Others choosed to be quiet, observing, supporting PR in silence, fedup with Umno treating their own cronies, etc.

So, to Mr P.Dev Anand Pillai have you done

BN is obsolete. Perhaps you should form a new political party to allow voters another alternative in next GE.
