Good people don’t last !

I decided to post my last comment as a post since I think that it may be good to share with more people, especially some who do not read the comments section:

My last comment in the previous  post:

When a new person in power is trying to reform a corrupt culture, he will step on the toes of a lot of people and antagonise a lot of members. Only those who follow status quo and smiles all the time to members can get support, but this amicable person would not be able to change warlord culture. OTK is of the former. So it is inevitable that he was pushed out…

Only thing he made a blunder himself by not being careful about those around him. As an incumbent, he has a lot of advantage,s including rephrasing the resolutions so as to deny any so called third force any opportunity.

Unfortunately, he is overconfident and he has an inexperienced Sec Gen who should have bargained hard for the phrasing of the resolutions. They are holding the chips and not CSL during the negotiation phase.

I equate him with the Minister in Sung Dynasty, Huang An shi, who tried to introduced reforms all over the country but in the end, everyone was against him and pushed him out…since his reforms touched almost every court official and even county officials… No one liked that..

Even in the setting up of ICAC in Hong Kong, during the initial phase, the police and all other enforcement departments went to the streets and threatened to go on strike, and in the end the authority have to give amnesty to everyone (almost everyone was corrupt at that time in Hong Kong) and promised there would be no witch hunt, and only corruptions after a certain date would be considered an offense, and those committed before that date would be forgiven.. That calmed the police down and slowly, corruption disappears.

This tells us that to reform, you need to have those whom you are trying to reform to be with you. Unless you are like Mao with his gun barrels, reforms can only be introduced in stages, and human nature is such that no one likes overnight drastic changes.. Especially when one’s livelihood is involved, they will fight toe to nail with anyone who is trying to take their livelihood away.

I have always advised young people wishing to go into politics to study history, especially Chinese history over the last 2000 years, and one can gain a lot of insight and wisdom from the history..

BUt please do not learn the ruthless and cruel ways in which the politicians shut off and killed their opponents. Learn the history so as to equip yourself to shield the arrows , but not use the methods to kill off your opponents..

OTK is a master of chinese history, unfortunately, he has trusted those around him too much; I heard that he has his own sets of 4th floor boys who antagonized lots of party veterans..

4th floor boys are paid staff and they have no patience and do not show respect to the elders.. Especially some with high qualifications would think very highly of themselves, and show respect to no one..And human nature again that those elders who were slighted would not forgive OTK…

After all, when they feel slightly over a small matter (like forgotten to address their titles), they place their self interest ( these boys not give ‘face’ to them lah ) over that of party, community and country… That is how some of  the elders in any party operate… They get angry over small slights, and even you do great things for the party and community, they will always remain your enemies..

Those who slapped their shoulders, buy them drinks, show them proper respect,  even if they are opportunists, these veterans will still support them..

Sigh! Good person does not last in politics…

Just a few years watching from the sidelines, near the corridor of power, I have seen enough to  be contented with being  just a social political volunteer, to give some views…  From eunuch politics, leash-holding politics, divide and rule, stab in the back, poison arrows, taking away the plank after crossing the bridge, ‘dog’ politics, open file politics and so on., horse  tradings (I suspect, some may be willing to trade their wives), sifu trading…etc etc… I can write a book on that… called the Arts of the politics perhaps…

HAve to stop now, getting too ‘cheong hei’ -long winded- already..  🙂

This is the same failed Badawi strategy. Smart Oxford graduates, western ideas of management, hard charging and result driven. It may work in the corporate world where it is essentially a dictatorship.

It will not work in politics. There are snakes everywhere inside a political party. Even the closest confidant can be bought.

One has to be a bigger snake to survive in the snake pit.

I think you are right in saying OTK is too trusting.

I dont agree that learning Chinese history alone is enough. OTK failed to read Machiavelli. He failed to pick up the deviousness and ruthlessness of the western culture. The modern Asian leader must be well versed in the dark arts of both eastern and western culture. Only then he can survive. Dont forget the other side have Oxford graduates too.

Dr. Hsu. The difference between East and West are:

    1. Chinese history and culture taught leaders how to be good – e.g. Master Kong’s “Perfect Man” and his “Golden Means”. Even the examples in Chinese history taught what happened when a leader was bad. But there were not text to teach leaders to be bad.

    2. That is where Machiavelli come in. How to be devious and ruthless. A leader has to learn this too.

OTK must learn to smile, bow, kiss hand and stab in the back. 🙂

Like the Mafia goodfather would say. It is not personal. It is just business.

No wonder the fork-tongue viper could stay so long in the snake pit yet can spurt venom on the face of the old goat TDM!

A short satire hoped to make yours day —-

    >>Forward : A good one to laugh out loud.<> Semi Value and his driver, Muniandy, were cruising along a Sungai Siput country road one evening when an old dog loomed in front of the car.

    >> Muniandy tried to avoid it but couldn’t – the old dog was killed.

    >> Samy Vellu told Muniandy to go up to the farmhouse and explain to the owners what happened.

    >> About an hour later, Muniandy staggered back to the car with his clothes in disarray. He was holding a bottle of expensive wine in one hand, an
expensive Cuban cigar in the other and was smiling happily, his cheeks smeared with lipstick.

    >> “What happened?” asked Semi Value.

    >> “Well,” Muniandy replied, “the farmer gave me the wine, his wife gave me the cigar, and their beautiful twin daughters were so happy they kept
    >> kissing
    >> me!”

    >> “My God, what did you tell them?” asked Semi Value.

    >> Muniandy replied: “I’m Semi Value’s driver, and I just killed the
    >> old dog.”…..!!!!

Those henchman supporters of CSL in Penang comprised of Datuk and Dr. warlords having their faces appeared in the daily news these few days, are mostly having jolly characters, though old, but still are! And tons of stories have been floating around in the market place which already has become an open secret!

Have you heard of there’s a YB Dr Mabuk in Pg?!
While he’s drinking high, his hand would automatically sneak in to the boobs and he’s caught red handed once in the pub! Sounds like an obscene porn story?

Obviously, these type of characters would like to fall back to reminiscent of good old times! Only by supporting a sex-maniac and sensual Chua, they will have chances, without knowing, they are only dreaming!

Trading of wives is so normal to them as if the ‘wives exchange club’ in Taiwan, sub-sub-sui lah!

Ng Yen Yen is outcast now, neither side (pro-Ong and Pro-chua) don’t want her. Despite appointed a minister, she didn’t give a shit to her constituency and to the party. Ong’s side is really pissed off with her, absenting herself when they wanted her support. She deliberately stayed away overseas under the pretext of official duties (wasting our tax payers’ money). She put out feelers to Chua’s side and they don’t want her.

And her constituency will dump her out like garbage. Remember, Kg Koman with the gold mine plant and using cyanide. The villagers came to KL twice to “look” for her and she refused to see them to resolve the problem.

During the EGM, a few villagers travelled all the way from Raub (Kg Koman) and carrying banners in front of Wisma MCA. And instead of being caring and compassionate, she did the David Copperfield escape.

Can Malaysians support such an arrogant and uncaring leader? She helped the goldmine owners got a license and even recommended the owner (ex MCA leader) a Tan sri.

So much for my honesty that today we are no longer on speaking terms despite our 20+ years friendship.

In most people’s perception, MCA and Gerakan are two parties already bygone! The tsunami is still having its remnant of effect around the corners of the domain of electorates. Hence peoples are having high expectation on the PR Government. Hoping that they will do well and better to effectively supersede the antiquated governance and propel Penang to betterment of economic stability, social fitness and do away all the political unrest, like Taiwan.

President Ma has been concentrating in Governing the State, less spat and boisterous politicking have also subsided and the dusts settled down, so as he could focus on the physical development of the Country. The well beings of the Nation and the peoples could then be taken care of under the safeguard of the good governance and works dilegently!

KTK was virtually being pampered too much during the initial stage when he first rose to be the State supremo. His cadres kept defending him for wrongdoings that he would have done and more time was he asked for to prove that he’s the man. After 19 years, he still was in his shilly-shally mode, not even he wished to listen to the truth, the real comments from the ground that would make him good!

Deep in his cerebral pit he believed, as long as he has Umno to be his forever master, he will continue to enjoy his milks and all the goodies will never be lost! Knowing nothing that the peoples are all his only masters, he continues to listen to his sycophant think tanks! Good advice from romerz and Dr Hsu can hardly get into his ears, instead, will be irritating to his less efficient ear drum plugged with hearing aid.

To teach a kid good, thou shall not always use the carrot. When the need arises and the time is due uncontrollable, the revolting kid has to be served with the stick! So now romerz has to resort to using the stick, though truth hurts, let it be, since you have told the truth, doom will be his mistake of not listening!

That’s why we should not pamper and always feed the new born government with too much carrots and be sincere enough to give the sticks before it’s being over pampered and become rotten to the core until unpalatable!…….

To leave BN or not, your central committee should get a census from the supporters esp your registered members. The decision cannot solely be made by your central committee. You still have a sizeable support on the ground and these supporters should indicate the direction to take…otherwise you may loose alll of them.

The strength of the leaders are derived from the ground support and leaders making decision may be in conflict with the supporters feelings and hope.

Another if the supporters are boneless and waiting for the boneless leaders to make a decision…like umno supporters licking balls, might as well close down Gerakan.

    Lessons from MCA and others
    ===================

For those who have ambition to be leaders in a political party, learn these lessons well.

    1. Never trust any one fully. Not even your closes confidant

    2. Ambitions in your subordinates are fine. But always watch for tell tale signs of ambition not in checked.

    3. Because of 1 and 2, always have something on your subordinates to keep them in line. Have a dossier prepared for everyone. A person without sins means either (1) person is very good at keeping secrets or (2) person is a saint. Either one means danger to you.

    5. Always be ready to strike your enemies. But never show your hand until the moment you are ready to strike.

    4. Never let people read your real feeling. Always give your respect and honour the other person, until the moment you strike.

That is why the head of political party always play divide and rule, check and balance..

They must have read ‘Julius Caeser’. Jilius Caeser ‘s best confidant, Brutus , betrayed him and stabbed him to death….

I feel that the american system is much better. You want to be candidate to fight for the post of the head of a country, anyone can qualify as long as you can go through the primaries and get support from your own members..

In system like ours, the top man is often so busy tracking potential challengers and looking at his back that little is left to sit down, think and strategise for the party and the people…

And because of this system, factions are created and factional fights played into the hands of the Big Brother…

It would be good for a start to have direct election of the presidents of all the politicla parties,, so that not onl delgates but the thousands of members can vote a.

(this articles say that DAP and UMNO are in secret talks)行动党与巫统搞合作?

If I am Najib and need a new Chinese Party, who would I want. Someone credible with the chinese community, of course. Amongst all the Chinese political leaders, who would carry respect. LKS of course. OTK? KTK? MCA and Gerakan are liabilities.

Strategically speaking, it makes perfect sense.

    Dr. Hsu

I m dissappointed with Gerakan Penang.

In its website today, they are able to
post program open house for Deepavali 24October but not Eidulfitri.

Then how on earth is Gerakan going to gain Malay votes next GE? Penang still has
lots % Malays votes. (Malay population in Penang at 41%). Have the Penang Chief Gerakan forgotten this?

Already Gerakan is viewed a racist party intricatingly hand-in-hand in Umno Penang
in the crusade called “development” past four decades, pushing the Malay Indians poors
    to the brink.

Dont Gerakan want to change such stigmatism
& true-facts actially that led the Malays swung the votes to DAP? Clearly shown in Bukit Bendera, Penang and other parts of Penang
    in GE2008.

So will Gerakan place its candidate next GE at Bukit Bendera? or MCA?

Is re-branding Gerakan by KTK last meant like this? Is Gerakan’s multiracial concept means skewed to Chinese and some Indians, minus Malays? How to vote Gerakan this way?

What is the purpose of BN coordinator set up by Gerakan Penang? To become “mouse watch”?

If Gerakan Penang wants to win next GE,
please start good relations with the Malays seriously, change tis out dated approach.

This current Penang State Chief looks they
want to continue their crusade the same as
prior GE2008, making the party a lame duck pending “sembelih”…again.

If this crusade continues, its better for
Gerakan leave BN now, die outside BN
with dignity and not die within BN with old themed crusade and dragged by UMNO’s unable to change.

17/10 – UMNO Bukit Bendera Eidulfitri open house.

    Gerakan Watcher,

That’s why I commented, Umno is master strategist, legally or illegally, morally or immorally. So long it gets results they want.

Intellectual and critical thinking are what we need. We cannot accept 100% what we see, hear or read. Things can be very deceiving sometime.

Something to do with big brother,….. still, many still willingly be counted as part of them. That’s what annoyed me.

    Dr. Hsu,

The article posted by Gerakan Watcher isnt
    one bit surprised to me.

I supposed the article is ony a thought,
i think mentioned in the last sentence “..this is food for thought only”

UMNO since TunM has been orchestrating anything & everything in the holy name of “material & power”. This two elements
has been embedded and rooted from the
top of UMNO elites and cascade to its division heads.

In Penang, when DAP came into the power,
the first second that clicked UMNO Penang
top cream of is the fact they must face
with loosing easy projects from state &
federal. They dont care one bit the
average-poor Malays who are UMNO members.

When 2, 6, 8, 12, 15 months passed by after GE2008, UMNO Penang and its cronies who
once enjoyed easy contracts & projects prior GE2008 are drying out.

As at today, many are “dried”.

In one division, its standard, you may
have about 20-30 members who have PKK Contractor Class A-F license & being taken
    care to get projects.

The only survival mode for UMNO Penang in terms of their own economy, materials & power at this moment is to MAYBE START “kissing”
    DAP…eerrr…eerr.. PKR PAS maybe.

Why? Because other “partners” are weak.
Gerakan is weak & MCA is messy.

Therefore, can we believe what Najib said
in the UMNO General Assembly few days ago?
    haha…Leopards dont change its spots.

As i said before, sadly, UMNO will never change.

Its up to the BN components to exit BN &
leave UMNO alone. Not the other way round, where UMNO leaves BN & marry DAP.
Nothing is impossible when this group is
    drying up 19months after GE2008.

I wish to tell my friends here that recently, I engage a very meaningful debate with a guy name ‘Jebat Malaya’ in Teresa Kok’s blog.

The debate is in Malay. The point I wish to put across here is that, even if the other party does not agree with what we comment, so long as the language that we use are in civil manner, the other party will do likewise. After all, what we want to achieve her, in our small ways, is to make Malaysia a promising place for all of us. Why quarrel unnecessarily?

    Jebat Malaya,

Tiada sesiapapun yang mengganggu gugat agama, bangsa dan negara kita (bukan anda punya saja). Kalau anda sentiasa waspada, bukan itu syak wasangka, apa lagi?

Apa salahnya kesamarataan? Bukan itu ajaran Islam kita?

Apa salahnya menjual arak?

    A True Malaysian,

    Good reply.

Example : Brunei is an Islamic country,
sells liquor and non-Muslims can enjoy liquor “dalam keadaan tertutup”.

This is how to start be Islamic country with % non-Muslims (buat betul2 jangan discriminate agama lain, Hassan Ali must learn facts),
think also for the non-Muslims. Unless the population is 100% Muslims, then can harram liquor 100%.

Malaysia should long ago enforce hukuman arak to Muslims instead the law “sitting there” like in Selangor’s case, the law was “sitting there” from during Khir Toyo’s era.

UMNO like i said, orchestrate for its own benefits.

Definition of a Malay in the Federal Constitution has great impact on Malay themselves, politically, in religion & belief, as well as socio-economy.

The impact is great. Maybe I should touch on it some other days.

The impact, in fact, began from “anyone can be a Malay” in Malaysia. I read it somewhere.

Open mind is needed to debate on this subject. If Dr. Hsu is willing to have this topic for discussion, I may elaborate more then. It is beneficial for all, “think and look out of the box”.

Don’t ever give up on our Umno friends there. They are not the ones at fault, system is. Faulty system is the cause of making us “stereotype”.

Umno den is still consisting of many of those secluded thinking and it has been attested during the youth wing convention recently, when the flip flop Khairy stood high to dictate his grandiose sermon on the mount that – the Malay besiege mentality – has to be erased from their minds, and was mildly responded by the gag!

The only Muslims that don’t drink ‘arak’ are poor Muslims. All around the world you see people of all faith drinking beers and such. Even there are pictures of our UMNO leaders enjoying these beverages. In the Arab nations, sheikhs and such spent tens of thousands of dollars buying expensive liquors.
We should stop being hypocritical on this issue and many others. Rather we should support equal civil rights for all regardless of race and religion. If we choose to be selective, then we cannot expect others to be fair to us in their judgments.

    A true Malaysian & frank,

The more KJ opens his mouth, the more damaged he creates for UMNO.

Me as rakyat, i cannot deny my roots.
We must never be ashamed of our roots.

Mine dated way back even those days Malaysia was called Tanah Melayu & Indonesia was
    under Dutch.

My ancestors rooted from West, migrated to this region married Muslim Malay (Javanese decendent) resided in this island called
    Penang today.

On certain moons, my great great grandpa
would travel back in “sampan” to Java to fight bow & arrows with the Dutch. I share this part of the history with some of my Malay friends here where they too had their great grandparents commuting to Java, fought the Dutch.

I was brought up to understand that Islam
is for all. Malay is a race within this
“Malay Archipelago” where initially practised annisme, then came hinduism, buddism, islam, christianity, etc.

From young, i viewed the Malay definition in our
Constitution as “handicapped” in some ways.

At 13, I argued with teachers the “Malay” definition. I cannot understand why a charcoal black indian female (sorry, only physical description) in my classroom was designated “Melayu”, just becoz she was a Muslim.

UMNO taught Malaysians to lie & ignore his/her real roots. Bad.

When i was studying abroad (USA), the university forms, there are boxes to
designated my origin, normally it would be – international student, Origin : Asia, Country : Malaysia, Race : Malay, Religion : Islam.

I m definitely not Oriental Chinese!! Unless Malaysian Constitution allows me to be a Chinese.

I wish the Malay definition is more refined, maybe my struggle may take more than
    my lifetime to materialiaze.

We are all Malaysians, we must not be ashamed of our roots and race and religion.

    Being Malaysians, our race identification
is important becoz we must preserve our cultures & traditions (Malaysia Truly Asia) &
for records purposes & all the way to
    “bilik mayat”, where to bury.

As you see now, one race in Penang is
blending itself with the Malays, borrow our culture, borrow our tradition, borrow our name “melayu” but retaining their original identity in their associations, taking advantage
    of NEP….

    What to make a guess?

IMalaysia is a hoax altogether when the
problem at root is never corrected.

Are only Malays and rich drinking”arak”?

The poor Malays drink arak too, “arak bukit” in the plactic cost about RM3.00 or “arak made from “air-tapai” fermented more days.

All races and religion worldwide drink
“arak”, some choose not to and some wants to.

When one is a Muslim, he/she knows arak is forbidden, it is up to her/him to drink in public/not public depending which country he/she is.

“sendiri minum, sendiri tanggung di dunia dan akhirat”.

Islam have its own set of laws for those
Muslims who drink “arak”. So, non-Muslims
are to respect this laws and not force Muslims under the crusade called “human rights” to legalize Muslims to drink “arak”.

Again, we have UMNO to change Islamic
Law to suit its needs. Sins of UMNO.

Many nasi kandar shops now are operating by these ‘borrowers of name’ and truly, they thought they are smart in exploiting the NEP benefits of loaning not only the name ‘Bumi’ status but also, financing from Bank Islam or sort to expand their business. Hence you can see their shops are posh.

I have to admit that they are smart to take advantage of the special privileges, though their genes belong to otherwise, they are given the privileges and their business fully financed by loans supposedly to be enjoyed by the real beneficiary! All that because of their convert to Muslim, and a Bin in between name instead of A/L.
Also, they have to become Umno stooges due to horse trading of benefits!

I am in an evil mood. I hope these lessons will spawn a generation of evil politicians.

Lessons From MCA and others – Survive as No.2 and live to take over.
    =================================

    1. The No.2 is constantly under suspicion of being a traitor to the No. 1

    2. No. 2 must always put on a cherubic face – saintly, wise and constantly singing the praise of No.1

    3. No.2 must constantly plot to overthrow No. 1. This is the main job of being No. 2

    4. Use surrogates that cannot be traced back to you. There is such a thing called Social Network Analysis. This technology can analyse telephone calls, bank transactions, Facebooks etc to determine relationships many degrees away. Be extremely careful

    5. Undermine the support of No.1. Subvert his supporters to your side. There is such a thing as your enemy’s enemies are your friends

    6. Have spies and other means to listen in to No. !

    – get early warning if and he decide to strike at you

    – learn of No. 1 decisions so that you can sing praise of his wise decisions even before he announced them.

    7. You only have one chance to strike at No.1 Chose your time and place. Patience is a virtue.
When you strike, make sure there are no prisoners.
