A slap on the face again

In  September 2008, UMNO Supreme Council decided to suspend Ahmad Ismail for 3 years for uttering racist remarks. Many people had in fact asked that ISA be used against him, but as an ISA opponent myself, I was against practising double standard, and i thought he should not be held under iSA but should instead face the other existing laws of the country..

Politically, his antics in fanning the emotions of his members resulting in the pulling down and stamping on the photo of a head of a component party (Gerakan)was inexcusable, and the least UMNO could have done is to expel him. A three year suspension of party membership, without any legal actions taken against him, was grossly inadequate in the minds of many.

Parti Gerakan was badly affected firstly by his action and secondly by this inadequate action of punishment. In fact, the party should have withdrawn from Barisan and stayed independent.

So in the light of the lifting of suspension of his membership, not even half way through the sentence, I wish to lodge my strongest protest and hope the party leadership would do the same.

I urge the party members to speak up on this issue and perhaps the party should seriously reconsider its position within the Barisan, as this lifting of sentence is no doubt a slap on the face of all Gerakan members, ignoring the feelings of Gerakan leaders as well as members.

Sad to say but Gerakan has really lost its relevant when UMNO can do things like this. I think this is the last straw for Gerakan in Penang. I am from Penang and with this action I really feel that Gerakan should withdraw from BN to maintain your dignity.

Gerakan will not leave BN. Not as long as Koh Tsu Koon still want to be back door Minister. This is the problem with Gerakan members. They just talk but do not the guts to take actions. This lifting of the suspension of Ahmad Ismail is another slap to Gerakan. And what does it do. It pretend as if nothing happens. I have never seen such cowards. I have never seen such low esteem people.

Gerakan Members. Requisition a EGM and a vote of no confidence on Koh Tsu Koon. If MCA can do it, why cant you.

I am not a gerakan member nor supporter but I am from Penang.

The reluctant to charge this fellow earlier and now releasing him of the suspension is more than a slap on the face.

umno is showing the middle finger and telling gerakan “what can you do”, absolutely nothing because you are our balls carrier, because we, in umno have balls and gerakan have no balls to defy umno. If you don’t like leave umno/bn or better still leave this country, you pendatang.

I guess ktk/gerakan will forever bow to umno and there is nothing its member can do.

In the recent closed dorr Life Council meeting a day before the NDC, the adviser of the party openly criticised KTK and asked him not to be like a dog to PM.

Gerakan members unlike MCA do not openly revolt but there are undercurrents now, and these currents will get bigger and stronger if things do not improve.

It’s not a slap on the face, it is signaling Dr Koh to “tapau” (appointment of Idris Jala was the first signal) or even Gerakan to leave BN.

No time to translate, share with you in utmost sincerity. Between you and KTK, who is 循吏 and who is 清流? Is 张居正 right or wrong?

Dr Hsu, the Gods must be smiling on your party by giving Gerakan this one last chance to leave BN.

First chance to leave BN was after 8 March last year but was spurned. Then came by-election in Permatang Pauh and that too was spurned. Then came ISA of Tan Hoon Cheng and again the opportunity was also spurned.

Then came Ahmad Ismail and his goons and that was spurned. Then came the tragic demise of Teoh Beng Hock and that too was spurned.

    Etc, etc, etc, etc!!!

What else is there left before Gerakan sees it for what it is?

Dr Hsu, you are far cleverer than I am so do you need me to tell you that the leadership of UMNO is more interested in appeasing their warlords than take care of their component’s sensitivities?

They have already decided that MCA, MIC and Gerakan are less useful to them than their warlords when the next GE comes around!

Hence the re-emergence of Ahmad Ismail. When will you guys in Gerakan realize this? When will you realize that the system on which present day UMNO is built on has no room for power sharing?

Accommodate the components and they have their warlords rebelling. Allow the warlords their only way to reach out to their uneducated grassroots and the traditional supporters of the components will shun you guys!

The truth of the matter is the system of power sharing within BN no longer works because one party of BN got so powerful that they arrogantly think their survival is the only way out for Malaysia.

Simply put, the system of BN no longer works when the power brokers cannot do without their warlords and at the same time cannot be legitimate without the component’s support albeit in name only.

Dr Hsu, can’t you see this yet? Please do not relegate yourself to those who cannot see the real issues eating away at our country by being fearful of social turmoil.

Remember that the oil money which subsidizes our economy (by 40%) runs out in 2 years (when we become a net oil importer). GST will replace it but think of the countless numbers of poor Malaysians who will not make ends meet!

The shit WILL hit the fan and the sooner you and your Gerakan friends realize this, the sooner we can put this past us despite “some” social unrest.

Dr Hsu, sorry for being harsh but the realization that pussy footing around out of fear will get our country no where. It hit me hard today, when a Dato’ friend of mine told me that perhaps it is time to abandon Malaysia since he cannot see any future for the country when we have idiots in MCA and gutless “friends” from Gerakan!

I would have loved to agree but disagree with you much like what KTK has always said but we are running out of time. No time left for such niceties.

    Harsh times requires harsh measures!!!

Don’t believe me, we reached our oil production at 720,000 bpd some 2 years back. Today we are pumping 660,000 bpd. Our consumption is 550,000 bpd.

Our consumption of oil is still constant but we reached our peak production 2 years ago and is only now declining.

Please tell me how we are going to keep our economy afloat before we as a country have to do the things we need to do which can only mean hardship for many Malaysians and their corresponding anger?

Of course, I don’t mean KTK is corrupt but rather his attachment to power(?) and position despite being not deserving to occupy that seat.

Dr. Hsu, now you know why I constantly distrust so called “Intellectuals with high qualification” because they always have “Stereotype syndrome” whereby they perceive outcome of certain known action will always be stereotype and same. Hence, they become non innovative and non creative. Worst still, they become fearful of the unknown and always long for comfort of familiarity. Anyway, please don’t perceive this as a generalise statement.

    Romerz,

Actually, I have decided not to comment on this Ahmad Ismail issue simply because it is waste of time to comment on such kind of person, which supposedly “penalized” or “punished” for his own act and expected to “repent”, but we don’t see this happens as the fact is Umno will never do that as they think they are “sons of soil”, can do whatever things they like without regard to others. The other reason, of course because “dignity” is no more there in Gelakan and KTK.

What compel me to decide to comment is the phrase “power sharing” as mentioned by you. I don’t like this phrase because it indicates someone in the position of “more powerful” willing to share “power” with other people. This reflects the “arrogance” of Umno since inception of BN as they always have the mentality of they are the ones who are in the position of power. The rest of BN component parties like MCA, MIC, Gerakan and all are just tools of Umno to show they are “willing to share power”, but in actual fact, THEY ARE NOT as shown is this MAD fellow.

My point is this, “power sharing” can never be the mentality of Pakatan Rakyat if they could form government in Federal level next General Election. If not, Malaysia will still remain status quo. What we want to see is the quality of personnel of Pakatan Rakyat is far more superior than that of Umno and its goons, in term of morality, capability, honesty, integrity, academic etc, etc, so that the people’s powers trusted on them are discharged responsibly, no more the so-called “power sharing” as mentioned by you.

The perception of positions to be held by Malay, Chinese, Indian representing the respective races should be discarded by all of us, and of course Pakatan Rakyat, Hindraf and other groups opposing Umno and BN. If not, Malaysia is going nowhere, race and religion issues will still be played out by Umno and its goons.

It’s all start from ourselves, give votes (ie powers) to Pakatan Rakyat, make sure they discharge powers “responsibly” coming 13th GE. We had enough of what we see.

I suggest either KTK takes Gelakan out of BN or eat humble pie and apologize to Ahmad Ismail as he demanded.

Face the fact. Gelakan needs Penang Umno to get the Malay vote. Without the Malay vote they are nothing as Chinese have abandoned this party.

But either way Gelakan is finished. It’s just choosing how you want to die – in dignity (by leaving BN) or in disgrace (by kow tow-ing to Ahmad Ismail). Does KTK have any dignity left?

Hahaha. Gerakan Penang is getting shy.

Now the great Huan is back. This is holiday season with fireworks in Gelakan.

“””Former Gerakan vice president Huan Cheng Guan threatened to resign if his party does not lift his suspension within two weeks.

Huan argued that Umno had recently reinstated Datuk Ahmad Ismail to the party, and questioned his continued suspension.

“I compare myself with Ahmad Ismail. They say I criticised the party but what have I done to criticise the party? Compare my case with Ahmad Ismail, you think which one is more serious? Ahmad Ismail tore and stepped on a photograph of party president Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon.

“During that time, I was in Taiwan and I SMSed Datuk Hishammuddin Hussein that I cannot tolerate such actions. I also resigned as Penang Barisan Youth chairman immediately and today Ahmad Ismail’s suspension has already been lifted and yet I am still suspended.

“I am very sad with Gerakan’s leadership because they are only good at taking actions against their own members but outside, they dare not remark or say anything. They just keep quiet as if nothing happened,” he said.

KTK, why are u hiding behind your gentlemanly grace without real action. Now HCG also pressuring u with his ultimatum to leave the party. A real boss cannot micromanage his company affair, so does a political party chief cannot handle party affairs like a scholar. Face it, acknowledge it, deal with it, and proceed – this is the advice from the late Master Shen Yen on how we should deal with difficulties. If u can’t comprehend or no courage to deal with it, then u should graciously leave and pass the baton to someone else. Again Master Shing Yun’s advise to OKT not long ago sounds something like this “When its time to leave just leave, use one’s wisdom to judge what is the best option”

Bear in mind that the world will still move on even without u. Most importantly, u owe nobody any explanation but only answerable to your own conscious. Don’t overstay your welcome. Then, the sky is blue as ever and there is always a tranquil world awaiting for u achieve some other thing out there.

The political world is simply not for u.
