Explosion or Cancer?

Frequent air travellers will be facing a dilemma soon, if talks of installing full body scanners in all airports become true.

They either risk their lives sitting next to a terrorist and die in an explosion, like a sort of Russian Roulette.

They can have this risk minimised with all air travellers going through the “Full Body Scanners” which essentially strip everyone down, but at the same time increase the risk of maglinancy by going through frequent x rays scan.

The radiation of walking through a full body scanner is small, even smaller than a Chest X rays. But radiation risk is cumulative, so by going through these machines many many times in their lives, the risk add up.

On top of that, there is no more privacy. You show everything on screen, and the image will probably be stored, and how big or small is no longer a secret to the big brother.

You either risk to die from explosion and get compensated

You risk to die from cancer after footing all your savings for treatment.

Your choice!

There must be a better way to detect terrorists, using procedures mentioned in my earlier posts on flight 253.

A “tribute” to Augustine Paul. Guaranteed to make you laugh.

Dr, I am not sure if a traveller once scanned can get cancer or risk getting cancer. It’s a possibility only if the X-ray trigger the existing growth.

But one thing is sure that negative human emotions of hatred, deep depression, persistent fits of anger and emotional turmoil can cause cancer. Failing immunity and secretions of chemicals within the body. I guess the explosion of cancer is already happening including combined factors of bad food culture as everybody has cancer cells.

You’re the expert. Hereditary and other factors also come into play. In another 1,000 years or so, organs can be removed and replaced because by then science has the way to grow complete organs by then. Already there is a culture to grow complete ears (experiment on rats).

Dr. Hsu, is there scientific evidence that the new Body Scanners will be harmful to humans from repeated usage? Another point I wish to make is that all the threats currently involves flights to the USA and maybe the UK, but not asian flights. So I don’t think our Asian airports will spend unnecessarilly for these new Scanners. Or they will deploy these only at the Gates for the USA flights. If you have flown AirAsia flights for asian destination, you will notice people carrying more than 1 bag, wear bermuda or khaki shorts, some in even slippers and simple T’s. It seems we have a relax attitude towards this type of threats.

We are living in a wicked world..both ways we will die. Is there any choice left for us?? Blame the terrorist.

If I condemn them some idiot will say I am ignorant cause they will defend their own kind. It is a trent for I fear this extreme form of terrorism will reach our shore.

    Thanks for the link.
    A nice read.

Have you seen the show “Law abiding citizen”? It is about a person who became so violent after his wife and his daughter was killed by 2 thugs during a break in and yet, the DA office tried to negotiate with the killers and so the one who killed the family got only 5 years in jail. SO this man took justice into his own hand since justice has been denied to him

I would not want to comment on the politics involved in this case.

    Nick and disgusted

Apparently most of the full baody scanners will be using X rays. X rays are known to have cumulative effects on our cells, and those who are genetically prone may develop into cancer. It is definitely not like the case of cell phones, where radio waves are considered safe.

In the early part of 20 century, after the discovery of x rays, many businessmen used xrays indiscrimantely, like using them to xrays feet to fit to see what types of shoes a person should wear and so on. These were found to result in an increased cancer cases, and thus government health authority legislated and x rays were allowed to be used under certain conditions only.

I really do not know what the effects of these full body scanners will do. BUt if it is x rays, it will be cumulative, and those of us who travel maybe once a year , our cells may be able to repair the damage done by xrays, but for those who travelled every now and then, the dose will definitely add up.

Let us wait for clearer pictures to emerge. I am sure the people in the west are very concerned with their own health..

    Dr. Hsu,

When justice is denied people may take the law into their own hands. If it is impossible to change a govt by peaceful means than violence will be used. I think it was John. F. Kennedy who said, “Those who make make peaceful change impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”

    Dear readers.
i apologise for putting on the delayed mode for all comments since they blog was under vicious attacks by a few commentators calling all sorts of names .

I have no agenda at all in starting this blog except to do my little bit to help change-and I have nothing to gain persoanally –, but I became “liar”, devils”, “evils”, ‘fXXX”,; suddenly all MM’s policies were apparently from me and I became his no 1 ‘lackey’ , accordigng to these attacks.

I have seldom (in the past I have only censored one or two persons fro personal attacks) deleted comments, but I f think ever since a fellow blogger has picked his fight with me, there are opportunistic cyber warriors who have tried to kill this blog off, even when I have announced that I may not want to blog on politics until maybe in future a big issue crops up..

I dont know where these people are from, whether they are pro-this side or Pro-that side. The situation is quite unique since there are people on both sides wanting to see me stop blogging: The pro change as well as those resisting change. there is apparently no ‘middle ground’ in malaysia.

The attacks have now stopped, but i thought i would put on moderation mode for a few more days. Not that I am afraid of the attacks, -if I am afraid , I would not be using my own name and identity right from the very beginning–but as I said, i do not want to spend valuable time defending myself and this blog; time which I can use for more productive purposes, and bearing in mind that I am always short of time..

maybe now i have more time to blog on movies, my favourite past time. Maybe I start with avatar since your name is avatar .

I will have more time to look for songs for you all young people out there now.

for those who may not have noticed, i have added the “smoke gets in your eyes ‘ score.

To repeat, all the scores posted here are sourced from internet, and i will not , repeat, WILL NOT, publish those from my books and other books. I am sorry for that.

    Dr. Hsu,

I am sure the attacks are not from pro change or “middle ground” but from some monsters that gone underground.

Temperament aside, we can read “sincerity” in one’s writings. “Drowning” with long, long, nasty allegations with hatred are their tactics to create chaos in pro change blogs. They just want you to stop writing, political or otherwise.

Technology has a way to give birth to cyber poltergeists throwing shit all over other people’s blogs, yes, a new creation.

Dr, you’re right in moderating and just do what is necessary as this is your domain and we are just passengers. Drive where you need and want to go but please don’t scrap this blog into the junk-yard.

This is the “meeting-of-minds” venue and it is invaluable to many of us, otherwise we get clogged up in our emotions, brains and mindsets. We all will die from information, views and “bull-shit-citis” (sorry, a new term for sickness that can be cure with two sen worth on well, my views).

full body scanner doesn’t prevent all terrorist from carrying weapon on board, if he /she got other ways of smuggling weapon through the check point. So it is only partially foolproof.
