Eye of the storm

The cover story of Time magazine indicated that Malaysia, not Indonesia or the Phillipines, is the hub, financial and planning centre for the Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist network.

Shocking news? Read part of the article here and you can read more in MT here.

……………….Very few suspected peaceful, relatively prosperous Malaysia, where Muslims make up two-thirds of the population but seemed to have bought into the consumerist, essentially pro-Western views espoused by their leaders.

But after months of investigation and hundreds of hours interrogating detained terrorist suspects, even government officials in Kuala Lumpur can no longer deny that Malaysia was the financial and planning center for the region’s main al-Qaeda-linked terrorist network, the place Osama bin Laden’s proselytizers chose to recruit a core of loyal followers, launch new groups into neighboring countries, and coordinate with Southeast Asia’s existing Islamic radicals. Increasingly, it seems clear Malaysia was one of a number of hubs used in the worldwide preparations for the carnage of Sept. 11 in the U.S.

As the country moved into radical Islam, the perversion will come. There are already so many illegals here. There are so many illegals who became legals. How do we know we are not infiltrated.

“Denying” is what the present government is good at. If this denying continues, nothing is credible or reliable whatever they utter.

This report didn’t derive with no basis. They have the technology to gather information that leads to this report, not on hear-say as what the government is good at.

Whatever issues that Malaysia is facing now are look at political point of view. That is the root cause of these issues.

There is a lot of rumbling in international circles that Malaysia is also the hub and transit point for many other international criminal activities – human trafficking, smuggling of endangered animals and plants at risk of extinction.
The world’s most notorious wildlife smuggler is reputed to be operating out of a shop in Pulau Tikus, Penang.
These issues rarely get raised in public due to diplomatic protocol.
Malaysia’s attitude is always as long as these people are not committing a crime on Malaysian soil, the government will not interfere.

There is, however, an increasing international consensus that countries which willingly allow themselves as bases for crimes committed against other countries should be subject to international sanctions.
This is going to come back and haunt us one of this days.

In Bolihland, many things can be settle with one eye closed. No wonder they (Abu Sayaf) of Southern Phillipines uses Malaysians as negotiators during the crisis of the ” Sabah’s kidnapping ” many years ago. Even the ransom was paid by a Libyan into the tune of millions.

As usual, we ( Malaysia ) are in the world news for the wrong reasons. Not for something that’s good but usually for things that are bad. That will cause us to lose more FDI and struggling to bring in those much needed funds.
