The attacks on churches , temples and suraus must be condemned by all right thinking Malaysians.
Religions teach us to be tolerant and compassionate. To resort to acts like throwing fire bombs at sacred places of worship is despicable and smacks of cowardice. Those who did this are not martyrs trying to protect their religions. They are misguided souls failing to understand the true meanings of religions.
These misguided souls are by-products when religions get mixed up with politics, and they become unwittingly tools that could be made use by people with ulterior motives.
I hope the police, who has been so commendable in arresting the church arsonists, will succeed in arresting these perpetrators. They should be properly investigated and quickly charged to serve as a deterent to other misguided souls.
In the meantime, religious teachers have a duty not to fan emotions but to calm down emotions and let cooler minds prevail, if they do not want to see Malaysia degenerate into a nation of confrontation and tic-for-tac fights.

We have had been ” sensitised ” as every now and then our politicians will tell us that certain issue is sensitive must be discuss behind close door. Over the years more issues were handled in that manner and the younger generation is asking why the churches never protested then. The govt banned translation of bible in national language way back in 80’s and many words were also banned for non-muslims usage.
All such issues were negiotiated behind closed doors and both parties (church & govt) were able to come to a decent compromise. But all those efforts of sincere negotiation is no longer seen as viable now with the new set of leaders. Thus, the issue was blown out of proportion for political mileage by certain group with evil intention.
Most religions teach their followers to be good disciples. Those that commit evil and have hatred till death for others are certainly without a religion. For ” the thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” Jn 10:10
We need to know the purpose of our life here on earth. Certainly, not just to work, eat and sleep. But for a purpose that we may be a blessing to others while on earth as per Dr Hsu’s philosophy :

Religion would not change so drastically without political influence, what more when so many corrupted politicians with hidden agendas.
In the 80s, all my muslim female classmates wear skirts without tudung. They wore short pants during PE. Can we say they are less religious then than now. I am sure not. At least no such thing as bohsia and less drug addiction, sex party even divorce rate was low then. They were less ulamak or imam and no piping squad to monitor individuals moral conduct. Yet the atmosphere then is very much peaceful and wholesome.
Similarly there were lesser Buddhist or Christian organization then and no moral subject at school, but i doubt we are any better in terms of conduct now than 80s.
So, can we look at religion with another perspective without being over protective of one’s view on faith. Rather we should emphasis more on ways to achieve peaceful coexistence and pursue happiness as a universal need of all human beings.
We wear different brand of underwear but the purpose is the same. As long as the purpose is achieve, why bother even if your friend wear a brand with cutting differ from yours. Your comfort is deprived simply due to the difference in brand or cutting. Cheers !

The problem with that particular religion is that they believe their religion is the only one which is true and perfect where as the others are fake. They also believe they are the chosen ones. There this one religion and one political party

No Muslim in this country want their fate and generations to come be the same as in Indonesia, share cemetary with that religion, mixed marriages with that religion, etc.

All religions are good and please do not religions-profiling any particular one.
If there are any perceptions of wrong doing, it is the stray believers and not the actual teachings.
I hope we do not do any racial or religious profiling. We need bridge builders, we need more understandings , and that is why I advocate a Interfaith COuncil to start frank discussions, not an unofficial dialogue. We need a proper settings for relgious leaders of various faiths to come to some understandings. The PM should show leadership in setting up the Interfaith council , despite objections from some conservatives segments.

The most important issue here is not just about tolerance. Its about understanding and feeling humbleness in oneself. As i have said before.. leave everything to God . After all, we are all living in the same world … created by Him. ….. if we believe the religion that we profess is the right path to Heaven, strive for it. If others are not willing to believe our religion so let it be. Let God carry out the punishment upon who do not believe. Then only we can put the present religious issue to a stop. Just as simple as that.

So-called religion is only an excuse and justification to pursue the hidden agenda of Man’s greed for material wealth and power over others.
