One opposition party which is in power in the state in which i stay is involved in a power struggle, with a vice president trying to topple a MB.
I can only say that if this MB is toppled this way, this party is going to lose a lot of votes. The culture of the Big Brother unfortunately has rubbed on this party….. Many of those holding high positions were from the Big Brothers…..The MB has not practised the politics of patronage and this has led to the infighting led by the ambitious VP which unfortunately is an old product from the Big Brother…Old habits die hard.
This reminds me of the Taiping Rebellion (Tai Ping Tian Guo or the Heavenly Kingdom of Peace) during the Qing Dynasty of China .
The rebellion started because of the corrupt and abusive Qing government, which had resulted in widespread famine, hardship and economic problems in China.
Led by the Christian convert Hong Xiu Quan, the rebellion initially was able to attract hundreds of thousands and succeeded in conquering many provinces in South china. At that time, there was a real chance for this rebellion to succeed and overthrow the corrupt Qing Dynasty..
Unfortunately, after the initial success, there were infighting and difference of opinion among the leaders as to the policies. They were also engrossed in dividing the spoils of war, so much so that cracks resulted and morale were affected.
In the end, imperial army under the able general Zeng Guofan managed to defeat the Taiping rebels, which were so full of potentials initially.
Sounds familiar? Yes. We can always learn from history and for those who never, history will repeat itself.
After 308, many states fell under tha rule of Pakatan government. There was a real chance that a real 2 party system can emerge in Malaysia. There was a real hope for change. But before they could have achieved their aim of taking over Putrajaya, infighting and position- fightings occur, and many of their leaders are following the old habits of their Big Brother, asking for spoils and what-have-you.
Those who do not practice politics of patronage are rebelled against by ambitious second in commands, and if they cannot achieve their own personal aims, they become frogs and hop..
There is now a real chance of them going down history like the Taiping Rebellion. Even RPK, the one who is instrumental in changing mindsets resulting in the tsunami, had predicted that if they do not mend their ways, they will be facing their last days…

I am still waiting for the formation of a Shadow Cabinet.
Until today, nothing has come to fruition. And PKR disgusts me. They are as corrupted and as greedy as their BN/UMNO counterpart.
In the worst case scenario, what would eventually happen in a 2 party system is this:
the coalition that forms the gahmen will not think in the long term. They will come up with short term plans and implementations to suck the nation’s coffers dry.
As we vote one in and the other out, they will each take turns to line their pockets full. And we would be left with the choice to choose the lesser of 2 evils (which is not much of a choice anyway).
I think we now are heading towards that direction. This is probably a very good time for Gerakan to get out and be the third force, and put itself right in between PKR (not PAS & DAP) and BN.

The “infighting” in PKR is caused by big bucks splashed by BN to lure, intimidate and to blackmail the MPs and ADUNs. This is very real and the people are not aware that this is happening.
The big towkays like Vincent Tan is used to finance crossovers and provide monthly income to some trojan horses within PKR. That’s why sports betting had been vehemently pursued by Muslim BN lawmakers as well as MCA and MIC leaders and champion the cause of the non-malays.
What PKR and Anwar should do now is to identify strong and committed grassroot leaders and groom them for the upcoming elections.
What Khalid Ibrahim as the MB of Selangor is doing is to “unwrite” those wrongdoings of the previous BN government and this takes time in order that Selangor can enjoy the benefits of the state riches. He tried very hard to avoid corruption and in the process had step on a lot of people’s shoes.
IF MB Khalid had acceded to these “corrupt” minded leaders wishes to approve their proposals and projects then his government would not be much different from the past one.
Yes, posts must be offered to deserving PKR and Pakatan leaders and members but the numbers are limited.
For this Khalid is labelled as bureaucratic. He has to tread on a fine line as the microscope is directed at him.
Why didn’t the people and media spotlight on other BN state government leaders as well ? Are these governments that saintly that there is nothing to comment ?

A rude rude awakening! A realisation to PR that it is never easy to reach Putrajaya with only hope and not hard work, integrity and teamwork.
So ever ready to complain, condemn and criticise but when given the opportunity to govern, the infighting, mudslinging and back stabbing started…. Unable to get what demanded, bad mouth, pull down or worst still jump. What a big big disappointment?
Our country might be facing bankruptcy soon!! Our resources are depleting. Our talents are migrating. Our FDI dropping and the populace’s anxieties rising.
Morale and morals are going down, crime rates and inflation going up.
What a mess?

What to expect from PKR – plenty of ex-UMNO rejects? Expect a leopard to change its spots? In 308, PKR unexpectedly won many seats with weak/unqualified candidates due to BN’s arrogance, voters’ backlash on Pak Lah’s broken promises, etc…PKR won not because it is good but voters hated BN more.
As a voter, I just want checks and balances…

Is this really a bad thing under one democracy system? Or we prefer the 排排坐,分果果 kind of arrangement under a strong leader?
I know democracy and politicking is bad, but we have to live with it – inter and intra party balance and check in work!?

I like this blog bec the discussion is intellectual. So different from many other blogs. Indeed i enjoy reading the comments.
Like mention in another article here, politic is also about power and power for money and money for more power. Basically this is all in politic esp here.
Just look at DAP perak now. A long MI article about the tussle for power between NN and kula!
I guess what i want to say is just don’t too trust politicians!
