A table of millionaires

Came across an email with this table below, purportedly from the Annual Wealth Report of The Boston Consulting Group.

The table is very much self explanatory and it lists countries with the highest number of millionaires in US dollars:

The highlight was not mine but was by the person sending the email to me.

I will not do any commenting on this ..

Meritocracy & Level playing field are the main ingredients for S’pore achievements.

Plus a favourable ideal political stability and openess. Foreign fund managers are rushing into S’pore to manage these wealth.

Looks like Singapore is indeed the Switzerland of Asia and in certain measures, has surpassed it.

I would hate to be poor and needy anywhere but especially so in money centered Singapore where materialistic values seem to have overwhelmed almost everything else. The gracious society is yet to make an appearance. Instead, pushy PRC migrants make you jostle for a piece of the economic pie and for walking space in weekend Orchard Road.

Selangor state govt has open up a window of the world for Malaysians by introducing FOI Act and appointing an opposition to chair PAC but surprisingly nobody seems to be interested. This includes those crab politicians who claimed to be visionary and learned. Are we not bother with freedom of information and/or check and balance? Do we enjoyed to live in a society where information is an entitlement only to be decided by the power that be?

We dislike people making harsh and critical comment and at the same time lack the courage and foresight to debate and brain storm intellectually on important issues that may propelled us into advancement and progress envisioned by a developed country. Why? Are we contented with a small mind and fearful to face the gigantic real world where competition is the sole parameter to measure your worth ?

Gerakan as a party with many intellects failed miserably to support and uphold this ray of hope and manifestation of mature democracy. Why bother to talk about the party’s aspiration of fairness and equality if you don’t give a damn to freedom of information, a fundamental ingredient of transparency which leads to fairness. Sigh.

Back to the millionaires comparison, we do not need to concern about how many millionaires we have as more pressing issues of how many people still live below poverty level. Do we need to relook into the definition of poverty as determined by our govt? Perhaps raise to a more acceptable level of RM1800 and what not to reflect the accurate scenario rather than showing an impressive poverty rate which carries little justification.

Gerakan, u cannot live with thieves and claim to be a holy saint simply because that fairytale only exist in a higher echelon of spirituality.

Singapore is a tiny nation without any natural resources; there is no palm oil tree, tin mines, rubber plantation, cocoa trees, paddy , hydro-electric power, crude oil , even got to buy raw water from Malaysia etc etc, but they are so much richer and advance than Malaysia.

I would like to imagine what would be the state of affairs of Malaysia if Lee KY was the premier of Malaysia.

John, good prompting but LKY premier of Malaysia? I can only imagine bad things. not on his performance but the works of racists and bigots on supremacy.

Believe me, under this rotten mindset of leadership, we are truly doomed.

Don’t look at the nationality, but look at ethnicity and culture.

    This explains why.

I was pleasantly surprised that this post was highlighted in Harakah daily under chip off the blogs.

I think BN can learn a thing or two in this. As long as the inof is good, the advice is good, whether the post is written by a white cat or brown cat should not matter. It should be highlighted.

So we should, s I have always advocated, do away with the Printing Presses and Publication Act… That is a single act that is stifling the free exchange of ideas, but in the internet age, this is proven to be more and more diffficult to shut down sites and imposed censorship.

The BIg Brother has never learned…They will probably learn when they lose Putrajaya…

Besides the lack of natural resources like water, oil, etc, Singaporeans don’t even hv enough sands which we in Malaysians take for granted and scoop up from ANYWHERE for our gardening. Yet, despite the high cost of acquiring large quantitites of sand, Singapore has built the new Casinos.
Singapore does not hv oil fields as Malaysia, yet it has the foresight to build oil rigs and now its Keppel Corp is the world largest builder of oil rigs. Similary, lack of natural oil resources does not prevent it becoming the World 3rd largest oil refinery. Human brain (and knowing how to tap it) is always superior to any natural resources
