The first salvo from N to M

I find that this article from the Malaysia Chronicle a very good read. It is informative and analytical…click here. i will quote part of the article here.

Many Umno watchers believe that the only way for Najib to restore public confidence in his administration and more importantly reclaim his mandate to lead the nation, via his 1Malaysia plan, is to neutralize Mahathir and the ultra-Malay groups that Mahathir patronizes such as Perkasa and MPM.

“I think it no secret at all the Chinese in the PKFZ scandal are the small fry. Even Ling, with all due respect, he was just an order taker. But how does one go after a man the stature of Mahathir without causing an irreversible split in Umno. If Umno is shaken, the rest of nation will also be shaken. This is a fact and the non-Malays must be sensitive and patient,” the Umno watcher said.

“It is very hard to fight off accusations you are betraying your own race, especially hot-head groups like Perkasa and MPM – they politicize and racialise everything you say. Can Najib remain president of Umno if he is seen to be anti-Malay? Does it make sense? To nit-pick and argue at this point in time is wasteful.”

The big picture

According to the Umno source, if Najib were to openly challenge Mahathir and Perkasa, too much effort would be spent on unnecessary racial and political bickering and the economy would plunge to zero.

The better way out was to get the big picture right and then gradually fill in the new power equation. And getting the big picture right meant the first order of the day for Najib must be to reclaim his power. And finally get his 1Malaysia off the ground.

Right now, Najib is unable to move because of Mahathir, who after 22 years of ruling with a fist of iron, does not like the system of governance he set up to be changed. Also, his legacy of vested interests and his bevy of cronies needs to be protected, hence the enormous resistance to let go and let Najib rule as he sees fit.

“This is what the PKFZ is about – to show Mahathir who’s the boss at Umno and to tell Malaysians that he will keep his promises to reform and unify the races. But first of all, he has got to solve this huge problem called Dr M and his legacy from the past,” the watcher said.

Indeed, this opinion piece corresponds to what i said in my post “bring in the other Big Fish too!” a few days ago, after a meeting with N. He did mention that he was facing stiff  resistance over his reform, and he has to move cautiously to bring change.  Indeed i have warned of this in my other article: The ascendancy of the right wing politics.

    Dr,

    Whatever u say.

If we look at “N” his history showed a man without “balls”, never been in a fight and everything fell into place for him.

His deputy, a corrupted man who got transferred because of land scandal.

It’s all in the written records, not an allegation by me or anybody but a fact he got transferred to the national level. It’s on record.

So for “N”, I won’t bet on it even with a 2 sen coin.

The ruling elites are corrupted to the core ( hey even the biggest corrupter said this ), the only way to change the current sad state of affairs in this country is to change the government.

If N moves too slowly. GE13 will be upon him and the whole issue may be out of his hands. I believe he is a moderate and in spite of all his faults and weaknesses, is a devil I would prefer over the other devil M. If I am forced to make a choice between two devils, that is. But come GE13, I may have more choices. Maybe even a choice of angels.

N has been ill-advised on this strategy just as he was when he changed his decision on other matter(s). He has run out of black hairs to turn white.

N cannot really move. He is not his own man. He has too many skeletons in his closet.

I can’t help but agree with PP that if you want to have a chance for a better government, you have no choice but remove the present one. So long as the PM is from UMNO/BN he/she cannot do much, however good or sincere he maybe in wanting change. Too many have too much at stake in UMNO/BN to allow that to happen! What more with next to everyone of significance in UMNO/BN being tainted they way they are. Change in UMNO/BN is not going to happen the way right minded Malaysians would want. The only way is for it to be out of power for at least 2 to 3 general elections when the current crop of UMNO/BN leaders disappear from the scene.

As I see it, these are all power play within Umno. The director of course is the old man M. (He is not yet senile, mind you).

Previously, AB. M put him there, then kicked of by Umno with the help of Malaysians.

Now, N. M put him there, can’t satisfied him, want to pull him down, put Moo up. M is panic as little time left b4 next GE.

As an outsider, maybe I can see clearer than most Malaysian. Malaysian live to regret by helping to pull down AB (he is better nature I guess, lesser harm being sleepy), put N in.

What you get now with N? Of course it is still better to have N around (learn from AB episode).

M is the problem, but N himself is the bigger problem as ghost A refuses to let him go. His other half is another problem to him.

Disgusted is right, things put in place nicely for him, instinct of survival is weak. Pay-back time for him, perhaps.

Above are just mocked up observations, those who read know better if,

You makan cili, You rasa pedas

    Dr. Hsu,

Never underestimate N and his ability! I believe he is still the best and most capable guy we have in UMNO. He will comes thru.

I don’t see Dr M as his rival, though apparently look they are at rivalry. Dr. M is also a very wise old man! He will never jorpodise UMNO for his real rival is Anwar. If the other M try to boost his chance to be the next PM, infighting is not an option at this time( if he is wise) Both Perkasa and MPM votes will ultimately goes to BN anyway.

I believe all this apparent ‘rivalry’ is temporary as N has to take drastic measure to win votes from malay and non malay.

Let’s see how it develop and see whether i am right!

to get rid of Mahatir’s cronies, so that he can replace with his own cronies? common on, look at the Duta deal? Who is controlling all the contracts for National Service? Go dig the info, doc? Its been more than 1 year since he became PM, what has he changed except to put up 1malaysia billboards.frankly, i am not impressed with his gutter politics from the Perak debacle to the shameful Sodomy II. And the death of Teoh Beng Hock tops it all.

We are still in a state of denial and hope an angel to save our country. What a wishful thought ! We want changes but dare not rock the boat. So, remain status quo will be the best option for those who think along this line. Hence, we have people who advocate to stay committed to BN and wait for changes within no matter how long it takes. Ostrich mentality, if not Slave mindset.

N is the only PM without a proven track record. Period.

It seems to me you have more opportunities to meet N. Are you some sort of adviser to N?

If you deemed charging of LLS as ‘The first salvo from N to M’, I’m sorry then.

Read again the ‘cheating’ charges, how can they be ‘salvo’. M can testifies he was not ‘cheated’ by LLS, and he walks away a free man. Put it this way, would M be so dumb to get cheated?

Old Horse is very afraid that Anwar Ibrahim will come to power at next GE. He is also afraid that Top will be unable to prevent this. So he flirts with
fascists/Nazis/bigoted loudmouths although this dangerous and unrpincipled strategy may get the country going up in flames.

Old Horse is smart but very cunning and unprincipled. Remember Old Horse’s saying “In politics, there are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies”?

Like what political scientists Dr Khoo Boo Teik has said, the greatest damage Old Horse has done is to corrupt and destroy our country’s political institutions. His “good intentions” i.e. attempting to make Malaysia a developed country by 2020, do not compensate for the great harm he has done. I think this is how history will remember him.

    Phua Kai Lit,

    I concurred with you.

Malaysia needs to have total reform. There is no way out and no short cut to rid of these illness in whatever fields that we think of.

Malaysia has no choice but to put our faith on Pakatan Rakyat to do the ‘reformasi’. The problem is, when PR takes over, they have to face with existing civil servants like what we see in states under PR rule. Even then, such civil servants (or little napoleans) cannot be chopped of immediately. That’s why good Malaysians should volunteer themselves when the time comes.

Example of good Malaysians is like what Haris Ibrahim proposes to have ‘third force’ within PR.

Of course, our good doctor here is one of them.
