Promises must be fulfilled

The coroner in TBH’s case has returned an open verdict, which brings the case back to square one.

According to Malaysiakini’s report, the coroner said there exists sufficient evidence to show that Teoh’s neck injury was pre-fall but “no evidence to confirm that this injury facilitated or contributed to Teoh’s demise”.

I would like to reiterate here that a Royal Commission of Inquiry, which should be given full power to investigate, be set up and look into the circumstances around the time of TBH’s death as well as to find out the cause of death  based on such circumstantial as well as postmortem findings.

Even the PM has in July 2009 promised the setting up of a RCI , but at that time, the RCI was not constituted because the case was under investigation in the coroner’s court, in what was said to be the correct procedure to follow.

Now that the coroner has made his verdict, the next correct procedure perhaps is to call a RCI.  This is what the PM has promised, and a promise is a promise, and any promise must be realised if the person making the promise wants to remain credible.

I agree that a Royal Comission comprising a panel of reputable individuals who are not tainted by any political bias to conduct further inquiry.

However, this will put the family of TBH through hell again. My sympathy to them.

Only in Malaysia that an aide to a state exco can be murdered at the premise of an institution controlled by an opposing federal govt.

Only in Malaysia, a newspaper, the mouthpiece of UMNO, can call Malays to raise up to defend Selangor from being a Chinese state outside China and get away with it.

MCA and Gerakan equally responsible for propping up UMNO (and their mouthpiece) for continually promoting racial violence.

Even the son of one of UMNO co-founders joined DAP

    Kenapa saya memilih Roket

to wrest back the original UMNO struggle to free the Rakyat from
    an oppressive govt.

What abt Gerakan ? Can it still redeem itself to act on behalf of the Rakyat instead of the lame leaders who got there under patronage system ?

Gerakan in early days under Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu is for the Rakyat, what about now ?
Can it still return to its founding principle, instead of just being a prop for UMNO, given your leader himself is but being prop up by UMNO ?

Do you think Koh Tsu Koon has any credibility left in the eyes of the voters ? At least Samy Vellu already resigned.

Neither here nor there, this is exactly what we have produced all along. What is the point of RCI if the result is the same.

今之君子,过则顺之。So, the truth will not unveil at the end. Not knowing shame is indeed shameless. KTK definitely can understand this with his “scholar” background but will he choose to be ignorant and remain silent like a stature ?

    http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/allah-debate-sank-latest-umno-pas-talks/

Wow, look at this while UMNO is playing behind BN component parties back, at least Tok Guru stood up to defend the Christian use of “Allah” by saying that Prophet Mohammad father also worship Allah even though he is not Muslim.

While UMNO obviously trying to cause a religious issue for the non-Muslim, PAS actually defended the non-Muslim.

Yet PAS was always victimised and labeled as religious extremist ?
Still can’t see who is the extremist here ?

Can’t the BN component parties see the devil that you are propping up by the name UMNO ??

How more blind can the BN component parties continue to be ??

What does your conscience tells you Dr Hsu ?

A rebuttal from a Muslim to what is written by so-called Ulamak in Utusan (the mouth piece of UMNO).

How can Gerakan be even in the same bed as UMNO ?

Is’nt it proof enough that UMNO is extremist as Utusan is their mouth-piece and reflects their psyche ?

After 1.5 years delay the result in what was promised to be within a month is no result. There is no conclusion. Or should I say dare not make a conclusion.

The strange thing was the death took place inside MACC office , yet the police unable to nab even a suspect. What more can you expect from the coroner verdict. Just play safe and follow the script. The RCI if set up would end up just like another V K Lingam showpiece. But a promise is a promise and must be fulfilled as what Dr Hsu had rightfully stated.

A promise is a promise, yes, but a convenient promise made by some slick politician to defuse immediate public wrath is not worth spit. RCI on Teoh Beng Hock’s death? Will not happen. I have lost all faith in this government to do right by us. As ordinary folks, we will have to decide what lies in store for us in a failing country and what we need do next to protect the next generation.

As far as BN is concern, there wasn’t any death in the record. Nobody died except a soul passed by MACC 1.5 years ago.

Can’t you see CSL’s son is on the rise and KTK still occupying a seat in the cabinet ? This shows everything is under control and smooth sailing, who cares if someone not from the ruling class actually died. Politicians in Malaysia are not fighting to feed their stomach but to satisfy their greed. Wake up from your dream if u still harbour hope of Change or Transformation.

It is not about promises. It is about a young man who has lost his life for being in the wrong side of the country’s politics. The political dimension of this case has obscured the real tragedy of a young life being taken for none other than his political believes.

Let us hope that the people (who also have families of their own) and have the power to convene a RCI will out of humanitarian consideration (casting aside politics) grant the victim’s family’s request for a Royal Commission of Inquiry.

Latest in MI : cabinet is to set up a RCI.I think this is a right move.

This commission must be given full power to investigate the circumstances during the ‘detention’ of TBH for questioning, and all those MACC officers would may be involved in the questioning of TBH must be investigated thoroughly…

Some how I do not trust these people to do the right thing. The RCI will be just passing motion. The boundary of inquiry will be set to prevent any real investigation. There is no more trust left.

His-story reminded us that RCI in Malaysia is not trustworthy. If u disagree, try to name one incident where RCI actually satisfied your curiosity beyond reasonable doubts. They set the terms of reference and determine the outcome. They are the directors and actors as the same time. Might as well ask TS Ramon Navaratnam to give his verdict on behalf of RCI just as what he did unilaterally on behalf of MACC on Gani Patail’s case.

While welcoming the “news” that a RCI will be set up, I agreed with Ronald that in all possibility, it may end up in more agony and disappointment for the Teoh family with just another VK Lingam-style show piece. Furthermore, is the RCI only set-up to look into the investigation procedures of MACC (as what the PM has “promised”)? And can the RCI be given full power to investigate without restriction and without fear and favour? Sad to say, there are just too much if’s and too much past evidence to point to another futile effort even with the setting up of RCI.

It is interesting to know the terms of reference for RCI. It may turn out to be another fiasco, which Malaysia judicial system is notorious for. Let’s not jump the gun until RCI is set up and terms of refrence are known. By that time, we will know whether it is for real or for show.

This is a farce. And Gerakan, MCA, MIC and all these parties will continue to support the farce.

Then what good is this blooming RCI. Niamah him.

Latest news, Royal Commission just going to find out whether his human rights have been abused by MACC, but not going to look into his death.

Frankly, I don’t even trust Royal Comission. Look at the Lingam’s case, NFA – No Further Action, this is synonym with BN.

On a separate case, another idiotic suggestion by MCA assemblyman:
    http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/1/7/nation/7748675&sec=nation

If he has done his homework, he will know that the official language of India is actually English, with Hindi being the most widely spoken language.
If he had said it is to preseve the Tamil language, the ok, but to suggest that Tamil is equivalent in India as Mandarin is in China, shows his lack of knowledge. Why do we always get some low quality politicians ?

My Indian friends are sending their children to Chinese-medium schools as well, not only to learn a more marketable language, but to be instilled with the stronger discipline prevalent in Chinese-medium school.

Whose hand is on TBH’e neck? For once, wisely asked a good question. That was what the coroner was supposed to direct. Since he had abdicated the responsibility, it should be the RCI. Now Najih is abdicating the responsibility. Then what next. The killers can run behind officialdom, but he/she/them/it cannot hide forever. The people behind the death will not have a good life.

i am really disappointed with the announcement that RCi is not going to look into the cause of death. It is just into the procedural aspects of MACC’s way of investigating.

I would have thought that looking into the cause of TBH’s death would automatically cover the procedural aspects of interrogating witnesses and suspects..Teoh was just a witness , not even a suspect.

    I am really really disappointed!!!

Can any lawyer enlight us as to how the judiciary review of the verdict would be done and how can this lead to a more conclusive finding?

    Dr Hsu,
You can refer to Dr Raffick’s blog. He has written 20 posts on TBH case. Very detail & systematic approach over the process of Inquest. I agree with him that the purpose of Inquest is to establish if TBH commits suicide & kenna murdered. You can find some smart ALECs there trying to say that TBH accidentally jump from Plaza Masalam…..Some clowns even asking me to show the bloody proof……Now, I know I drink more beer these days….
Oh my goodness! Lagi RCI takes another 3 months…..Just as Jim Hacker said during the Writing on the Wall……I am APPALLED/SPEECHLESS…..Quite tempted to show these link to the smart alecs
