Are we a nation?

Who am I?

I asked myself after reading about a State assemblywomen’s failure to register her baby as “Malaysian”.

The baby has to be registered as either Indian and Chinese, since one parent is Indian and another Chinese.

In this modern time, there will be many many such cases where people from different ethnic groups marrying people from other ethnic groups.

You marry someone you love, regardless of his or her background, including the colour of the skin.

This is in fact good for nationhood. This is in fact good for human kind.

This is also an good example of 1Malaysia, and Bangsa Malaysia.

Is that not what the past and present leaders want?

The Old Horse, when he was the PM, had advocated the emergence of Bangsa Malaysia, which should actually be encouraged right from the beginning of nationhood in 1957.

The present PM has time and again used 1Malaysia as his selling point to draw Malaysian voters back to his folds.

It is in fact an irony that Malaysians cannot register the birth of their children as Malaysians.

When I quit Parti Gerakan, my main reason is that, to paraphrase my statement then:

In fact, as a result of more than 5 decades of race based politics, the country has drifted so much apart that racial polarization has never been as bad as now . Despite the many decades of trying to work from within, Gerakan is now further and further away from realising its ideals.

Three years after the 308 General election, I sense that apart from rhetoric, there is little change in policies gearing towards uniting the people and providing a fairer and more equal footing for all. I feel that it is now futile for me to try to fight within the system anymore.

The action of denying Malaysians registering their children as Anak Malaysia has confirmed what I said then. The concept of 1Malaysia , as proposed by the PM, is nothing but rhetoric.

The answer to the question of “Who am I” should be ” I am a Malaysian”.

Now, the logical next question is that ” Are we a Nation”? If we are, why are we not called Malaysians but have to be registered as Chinese, Indians, Malays and so on?

All these are a result of 5 decades of pathetic race-dividing play by political masters.

If we are sincere about 1Malaysia, we should in fact do away with the ‘race’ column in any forms that we fill. That should be the right first step towards achieving the ideas of 1Malaysia.

How about that, Mr Prime Minister?

How to promote race and religion divide and rule….if Najib listens to tons of

Do that… UMNO B powerful members will be after him….leading the party to failures…but vast Malaysians may support him…voting him in…as Opposition leader.
Do not do that….Malaysians are going to vote him out….then powerless…new government overhauled police force will be after him for corruptions and murder.
No other PMs are living between the devil and the deep blue sea…except Najib.
Anyone who listen to Mahathir ….have all failed…be it Malaysians or oversea leaders like Soeharto and Taksin….Soeharto called him brother….Taksin addressed him as his teacher. What are they now?
Abdullah was smart to use his PM position to make known..he is not Mamak’s puppet.

Najib….the powerless..good for nothing PM is so selfish…trying so hard to be as cunning as Mamak…with his circus show going on and on….with no good results.

Precisely. When you fill up immigration forms on entering any country, we put down as Malaysians.

Remember the DPM who famously said that he is Malay first. This is the type of mentality that is against the spirits of Bangsa Malaysia or Anak Malaysia.

We need to change the system.

Umno/BN is still bent on ‘divide n rule’ policy to garner more bank votes.Besides,NEP is the super highway for its elites to become filthy rich.So for all Malaysians to be registered and called Anak Malaysia is out of billions’questions.Maybe over Umno/BN’s death bodies. With Umno/BN still at the helm of ruling,we will never see the light where we all can consider ourselves,a true, happy and prosperous Malaysian.Change we must.

The joke is now on “1Malaysia” – pet project of Malaysia’s 6th Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak – the ‘Father of all Rhetorics’ !

What is it that he’s promoting where exist no ANAK MALAYSIA – the Malaysian race?

54 years after independence we still have to be categorized into Malays, Chinese, Indians, others. Do we find the Americans having to identify their ethnic origins like Negro, Polish, Jewish, English, Irish, Chinese, etc? We are probably the only country in the world so obsessed with race

Racial identification is an essential component of Umno’s racial policies so they will never allow this to be bypassed. And no wonder as Umno rules the country based on ethnic and religious fault lines. Economic, employment and education opportunities are dished out by race. To corral the Malay vote they are put in fear of losing their special privileges. The non-Malays they are threatened with racial strife if BN loses power (this doesn’t work so well now).

By clinging to this obnoxious method of governance Umno has lost its legitimacy to rule, The social and economic effect on the country is horrendous but this collateral damage is acceptable to Umno.

Hannah Yeoh and Ram have revealed 1Malaysia for what it actually is – an empty slogan where nothing has changed.

    I agree with Kenny 14.15PM.

For 54 years, those BN/UMNO goons who keep on harping that Malaysia is one unique country, prides itself as multi-racial, multi-cultural society living in peaceful harmony, never seen elsewhere must be downright village pumpkins ‘katak bawah tempurung’ who have never been out or seen the real world outside! What laughing stock!!

    Dr. Hsu

Najib will listen right ear and out the left ear. He put himself Malay first, this is UMNO from 1957 until today.

For as long as UMNO preaches “ASSABIYAH” which is against the preaching of Prophet Muhammad SAW, Malaysia one -race cannot materialise.

She is dam right, i agreed with her, remove race out, we are all Malaysian, we must identify our self as Malaysian, not Malay, not Chinese or Indian. There must be only one language(Bahasa Kebangsaan) one school (Sekolah Kebangsaan)everybody only talk in Bahasa Kebangsaan(cancell their nationality if can not speak in bahasa)No more sign board in Malay,Chinese or Indian all change to Bahasa Malaysia,
We must fight for it ” We are all Malaysian”

Whoa, good try Najib, so alike feigning pig to eat tiger? LOL!!!!

This ‘Father of all Rhetorics’ is preaching to the Muslim world in his speech in Kazakhstan about transparency, good governance, and fighting corruption? But his government had been on a secret deal(until exposed!!) to allow an Aussie company to mine rare earth and store its radio-active wastes on Malaysian soil in Gebeng, Pahang – his home state!

This hypocritical pathological liar, the Muslim world needs to know – his economic gains must be ensured, – what the heck, comes first before citizen’s health!

Contemporary genetic research is showing that human beings belong to only one species and that the concept that “race” is something biological in origin is a relic of the pseudo-science that accompanied the rise of European imperialism. The pseudo-science was used to rank the “races”, with Caucasians at the top, Asiatics in the middle and blacks at the bottom. All used to justify enslavement, exploitation, conquest and colonialism.

“Race” is a social construction. We humans differ only in the ideas which we carry around in our heads (cultural ideas, including religion). There are only “ethnic groups” (which differ culturally) and no such thing as “races”.

See the late Harvard Prof Stephen Jay Gould’s book “The Mismeasure of Man” for the history of “scientific racism”.

    Dr. Hsu,
Do you think our current PM will be so 1Malaysian to do away with all forms on ‘Race’ and also make it his party’s election manifesto?

Until then, “1Malaysia” is still “1Malaysia 3 Bangsa”
    not satu Malaysia satu Bangsa.

Najib do away with all forms of race …to divide and rule…to apply double standards…to act like champion and protector of his race with his life….from traitors…will defeat UMNO B purpose to steal as much as they can from vastly overpriced tenders….big and small.
It short …without race and religion politics and corruptions…Najib is a dead duck for sure.
And with the usual bullshit side shows….he is hoping to fool and sometims frigthen Malaysians to vote in as PM at 13the GE….to continue the successful traditions how to find more suckers and idiots….shown by his ring leader and master..Mahathir.

    Doc asked…”Who am I?”
The British group “WHO” singers asked Tony Blair…”’Who do you think you are?”…..playing second fiddle to US President Bush.
So Malaysians should ask Najib….”Who do you think you are?”
