The F-factor ( and X men)

Talking to a  businessmen acquaintance while doing some banking yesterday. Few months ago, he was an  ardent supporter of a 2 party system. I could sense a change in his thinking.

He was worried that there would be unrest and thus  his business and livelihood would be affected. He now opined that it was better to live in a corrupt but  relatively peaceful environment than to have unrest like those in middle east.

This is a man in his mid 50s. I can sense that many businessmen think like this person.

Even though I reassured him that we can change without going through the unrest stage, using our votes, he was not convinced.

This is a result of the F-factor (fear factor) that was the latest weapon of the outsourced NGO, the head of which had uttered a clear threat and no action has yet been taken against him.

This couples with the ‘no-representation’ card played by the DVD actor seems to target the older generation of urban people to vote  Big Brother again.

Many of the older generation would fall for this since to them, any chance of upheaval must  be resisted. This is especially true for those businessmen who are afraid of rocking the their own rice bowls..One very well known businessman has actually told me that ” clear water has no fish”, and he is willing to pay the price of swimming in murky water just to get some fish.

I witness one clear sign  of this F factor; I was in Carrefour doing my monthly grocery purchase day before, and I see some of these people stacking up their push carts with stacks of rice and cart-full of instant noodles…..

I do not blame this type of mentality.. especially after the F-factor was blatantly uttered.

To counter this F-factor, those who advocate for change must do their part to haul in all the eligible youngsters who have not registered to vote. There are 4 million plus eligible youngsters who have not registered . Many are overseas , but majority  are in Malaysia, they must be persuaded to register and to vote.

I would like to call these unregistered young people ‘the X-men’. Most of them would have no qualm voting for change, and if all 4 million of them register to votes, they would comprise of at least 25% of all voters. AT present, there are 12 million registered voters, and with the addition  of these 4 million, it would become 16 million.

We need these X men to fight the F factor, and these X men need to register fast, for GE is probably around the corner.

I just viewed the Marcos life in Astro History channel and our present position is so similar to what Marcos did in Philippines 40 years ago.
People Power was born and chased him out.
I am fully confident Malaysians are not selfish anymore.
Sacrifices from all Malaysians to get rid of a corrupted government must be made or else…the poor will get poorer and we will be worst off than what we are now.
From what I know…young voters are mostly fed up with Najib and Mahathir.
They never voted before but will vote this time..for change.
I am sure….BERSIH walkers will walk with no fear for country and people..with or without a permit.
Their show must go on…because the word BERSIH pricked them hard to change…but to change means a CLEAN ELECTION and a CLEAN ELECTION means the end of Najib.
It is more than fear factor involving.
It is enough is enough…and when Malaysians are pushed to the end of a wall…they fear nothing.
Many are prepared to die for the country with no violence…..if that is what it takes to free Malaysians.

    Sir,

That F-factor has been our curse for the past 50 years, and this is especially true with the Chinese, is it because they felt that they deserved all that they have worked so very hard for and what a waste it will be to throw it all away by rocking the boat?

The people got smarter and bolder the last GE and the government went back to work on that F-factor so successfully. Started with the violence promised by 1Racist then the key ‘leaders’ took over, with the help of the dirty media. Then now its the turn of the police promising action instead of protecting the people.

Is it not such a waste to fall back to that same F-factor of the last 50 years when we know it did not work, and now is it not time for us to overcome this fear for the sake of our children? Be brave for your children!!!

All that we have worked so hard for is being stolen right in front of our noses, so lets not worry about rocking the boat. Fight the thieves now, so our children can have what we worked so hard for.

Dr Hsu is right, let’s enlist our children’s help to fight the thieves, get them registered then vote out those robbers.

Lets stand up for our children again!!

You may want to ask the businessman:
Does he want his children and grand children to swim in the same murky water that he is swimming in now?

I think he is being very short-sighted, and narrow minded. If he makes a choice due to fear, his children will have to pay the price and live in fear in the future.

Besides, he owes it to the next generation to do the right thing. People of his generation has been supporting the corrupted party for farrrrrrr to long.

I think Malaysians of today is quite different from previous years….right after 12th GE.
It is the result of 12th GE….we are witnessing the evils of the real government at work..
All they need to do is remember all the slogans…Najib’s actions and reactions…the police and political court cases judges…and all can see and understand it is no more about personal benefits on how to vote…..but to vote for true freedom and get rid of massive corruptions that Najib’s government cannot win the 13th GE unless billions are available to buy loyalties and votes.
Just look at all the shouts and threats over one word…”BERSIH”
It is not the businessmen Najib is afraid of….as these businessmen have not that great kind of controls over their workers like before..
Workers are loyal but no more puppets.
It is People Power…the workers…kopitiam fellas..hawkers..commercial firms clerks…and most of all..the new young voters..all pointing towards wanting a change of government.
It is actually depending on how far Najib wants to go to protect his position….and thousands of Malaysians are ready to walk if Najib wish to go to the extreme.
Right now…all signs are building up for an Emergency Rule by the Police….and 13th GE..put on hold.
Najib will do anything to stay as PM…and we need to watch every move he makes with no fear.
On businessmen again…I think most understand their short comings…if they do not support a change in government…..as things are getting dearer to import or manufacture ….to sell….at much higher prices..
Even in eating stalls…shopping complexes….hawkers and bosses of shops ca feel customers are spending less and eat or buy what are needed….no more spending like water.’
Fear have reached it’s limit….since Ibrahim Ali..started to provoke Christians and BERSIH walkers…and protected by the Govt.
Double standards so clear. Law of the Jungle applied …so clear.
Will all these benefit businessmen and all Malaysians?
Do not forget…huge number of Muslims are against UMNO B too.
The fact that the population prefers to be Malaysians…and not by race..drive the government NUTS.
And we all know how nutty people react….don’t we?

My two sen advise for Malaysians is just to enjoy all the nutty events…smile..be calm and fearless.
That will make Najib nuttier….and see what happens.
He want to copy Mahathir’s Operation Lallang ?…using another created UMNO B law and not ISA?..go ahead.
Right now..a group of brave DAP men cleaning the streets…for a clean Malaysia wearing yellow…also got arrested.
This is a joke to them and making Policemen as fools.
    What can the do?
Lock thousands for maximum 60 days?
The key politicians like LKS ..LGE…Anwar….Husam…just to name few ..are not afraid.
They are trying hard to make sure they don’t fall into Najib’s traps….for possible 13th GE.
Desperate men needs desperate means to stay in power.
People Power watching and keeping low profiles…..waiting and waiting for 13th GE.
For 9th July BERSIH rally…walk will be on…and lets see how many thousands can they arrest and show to the whole world…what Najib’s leadership is.
Their show must go on…so will People Power.
Lets rumble and see who will tumble…but will Najib dares to RUMBLE?

Ignore them and let them enjoy their selfish peace. But they don’t deserve to enjoy the better days after the change. Just look at Hua Zong, who are representing? The entire Chinese community or just the business community? I for one do not need to be represented by them.

As I see it, PAS will be the critical factor that determine the success or failure of Bersih 2. Only PAS can counter this F-Factor. If Hadi Awang or Mat Sabu can mobilise their supporters, Bersih 2 will create the momentum even though it may not succeed it marching through the route as planned.

Secondly, the Bersih 2 demonstrations planned in overseas such as Australia and UK will send the message to the international media and Malaysia will be in focus. Looks like our govt is trapped. Who is walking in a tight rope now?

Businessmen are inherently selfish and tunnel visioned. Many of those who manage to do well in murky waters, even if they personally prefer the water to be clear, do not mind swimming in filth if they can continue to do well. They guard their pockets first, last and always. Of course they fear unrest, it’s bad for business, their business, that is. They can’t or won’t see the BN government has been bad ‘business’ for many of their fellow citizens for decades till they have lost all faith in the current system.

There are two types of fears:
    1. Fear of unrest or racial strife if BN lose
    2. Fear that the opposition cannot govern properly

The first fear is receding even among the older generation. It is no longer an “older generation fear” but cuts across age groups depending on personal sensitivity and character. In other words, how easily a person is frightened by threats from the likes of Ibrahim Ali.

The second fear is actually more of an obstacle to PR than the first and in my experience more widespread. There are some who fear change and are just not willing to give anybody else a chance to govern. They prefer to maintain the status quo but neglect to realize that the status quo cannot be maintained because under BN the country’s economic condition will keep going down. In this category are a lot of businessmen,

We should try to educate those with the second fear that they should be brave enough to give the opposition a chance. We can vote them out if they do not perform but it may be impossible to vote BN out if we do not take a stand now.

    Monsterball ,

I am not really a businessman but i agree that we cannot hit the whole boat with the same stick, so to speak… there are good and honest businessmen who would like to see changes too.

The law enforcement came to my clinic twice last year to check on my clinic records, after i voiced out the issue of too many medical schools and called a press conference on this issue, and ruffled feathers of the top health administrators in the country.

But we cannot give in to this fear tactic. Put our house in order so there is no fear of they coming to check again and again. It may cause some inconvenience but it is worth enduring this for the future generations’ sake.

monsterball, understand the context and language before you fly off the deep end. Don’t quote out of context either. Business is a selfish enterprise and businessmen need to be very profit focused to prosper. Nothing wrong with that. It’s inherent for any businessman to be selfish and tunnel visioned to be successful. My businessmen friends are not abashed about it either. They don’t run ‘do good’ organizations. They also don’t need you to defend them, thank you very much. They separate their business and personal selves as much as possible when with friends and that’s how and why we get along. Perhaps there’s a lesson to be learnt here.

I am not rich but comfortable. Comfortable mainly because some of many of my investments like my house and my shop has appreciated over the years… I spent many years servicing the mortgage , just like many other people.

In KL and Penang, many of those who own houses are millionaires, but many face the problem: they cannot sell the house to cash in , since they would have no place to stay if they sell off their property.

But this paper gain in property value hardly compensates the fact that their children can hardly afford a decent house or apartment nowadays. Many have to wait till their parents pass away and sell the parental properties to have cash to buy properties.

The young people are really hard hit,and they have to spend a big junk of money servicing car loans, since without cars, you cannot get anyway in most of the cities.
