Utterly disgusted!

I was shocked and felt disgusted by the dishing out of ‘white packets’ to some old Folks at a supposedly Chinese New Year open house organised by the extremist group Perkasa.

It is customary for Chinese to give out red packets during Chinese New year. In fact, the term “Any Pow” so commonly used in Malaysia means “red” packet.

White packet is taboo in CHinese custom. It is normally reserved for showing condolence during a funeral wake. So to invite some old folks and then giving them white packets is akin to inviting someone to your house just to insult them.

Some of the organisers have pleaded ignorance. But that is hardly believeable.

Even if the organisers do not know about Chinese custom, it will take a moron not to see that  before and during Chines New Year, every where any person goes in towns and cities, there are red decorations, and many of these decorations are in fact made from red packets. Even if the person is staying in a rural areas, there is no way for him not to notice the TV advertisements aboutChinese new Years where red packets are given out.Furthermore,  as a MP, Ibrahim A must have attended many open houses during the past decades, so to plead ignorance is utterly nonsense.

I do not know why they go to such an extent .. This action is not going to endear them to the people,  especially the  right minded and moderate Malaysians.

I really do not know what they are trying to gain by doing so. If the sole purpose of this organisation is to gain votes for UMNO, they should ask themselves that are they helping UMNO this way? What they are doing is not helping the Top Leader, since this is against the 1Malaysia that the Top leader has been preaching.

No 1 has immediately dissociated  the government from this act of giving white packets, but the perception is that this organisation has close association with many of the right wing leaders of the Big brother, so ultimately, there is no escape that many people will blame the Big brother for this.

Another piece of news that is utterly disgusting is posted in Malaysian Insider today. It is about golf membership of a prestigious golf club being sold at different prices for different ethnic groups.

I blame this sort of  thing on the 50 over years of race based politics. Something must be done on this. Otherwise, polarisation, which is already at its worst level now, will get out of hand  and that is dangerous.

I will post the photo here :

Utterly DEMEANING to the Chinese Community!

And to think that some Chinese are assisting him in this event don’t even let this joker know that ‘WHITE Packet’ is definitely NO-NO on Auspicious Occasion like Lunar New Year.

Is he trying to Provoke the Chinese?

    Dear Dr,

Common rationale people (even though with difference political connection) would never do this kind of thing. Only Perkasa do it. I wonder where they were staying this 50 something after Merdeka…

Maybe they were “katak bawah tempurung” all this time..

This is a direct insult to a Chinese community at large. Even though I’m Malay, I do respect others and treat them as Malaysia. After all.. we are all “Anak Bangsa Malaysia”

An insult it was and a deliberate act with total disrespect on the part of that despicable Ibrahim Taliban for the Chinese community! When I first heard he was throwing a CNY-do, I knew there would be nothing good coming from this racist low-life and how right I was!

His bastardy act only demonstrates for all to see what this SOB is capable of, deprived of moral decency and he cares for no one, not even his own kind.

maybe under instruction from the old horse to disrupt the current one (well the current one maybe holding something out from the old horse??). the membership thing is prevalent on all aspect of the “dan lain lain”‘s life in malaysia so much so some of the ketuanan masses think they can do what they want with the other races. i have also experienced overt hate from them during a minor accident i had a couple of years ago. these are not gangsters but normal family of 6 with offsprings having had local uni education. the masses have been poisoned properly here that it will take a couple of generations to heal the rift. Azly Rahman once said, some of the ketuanan masses may have had the privilege of having overseas education but that did not open their eyes for they had only learned to come back with more sophisticated arguments in support of the current govt and their blighted ketuanan practises.

The larger devil in this episode should be the “doctor” from MCA Speutih division. He was “laughing” when witnessing Ibrahim Ali distributing the “white packets” yet he claimed he was a victim. Friend, if u still habour hope on MCA and Gerakan, u must be a real idiot.

    1. Dr Hsu, I think it was a genuine mistake on the part of the fascist clown.
It show his ignorance of the customs and traditions of other Malaysian ethnic groups.
Not surprising since he holds “supremacist” views (why bother to learn others’ ways when one’s way is “superior”?)

    2. Here’s a thought experimentI came up with:

Anwar versus Najib. What’s your choice? For me, it’s “no contest” !

    1. Anwar Ibrahim
Son of a hospital porter (working class origin?)
Graduated in Malay Studies from Universiti Malaya (evidence that UM can have quality graduates!)
Worked his way up to become DPM of Malaysia
Has served as Finance Minister (by all accounts, did a credible job. Although I disagree with his IMF-inspired deflationary policies in the Asian Economic Crisis of the late 1990s)
    Enjoys widespread support in Malaysia
    Stronghold in Permatang Pauh
    Talks about promoting “democracy”
Under him, Malaysia may change direction significantly
Has grown older and wiser with age and given up his youthful nationalist radicalism

    2. Najib Abdul Razak
Son of a PM of Malaysia (ruling elite origin)
Graduated in Industrial Economics from U of Nottingham, UK
Basically became DPM because of the advantages provided by his family background
Currently serving as Finance Minister (on the way to bankrupting the country with his fiscal irresponsibility)
Needs expensive propaganda campaigns to garner some degree of support in Malaysia
Almost lost his seat in his Pekan electoral district in one GE
Talks about promoting the “moderate” way
Under him, it’s more of the same (maybe even worse!)
No evidence he has grown older and wiser. In fact, continues to indulge in insensitive and
provocative racially-tinged political rhetoric unworthy of a statesman.

I was so sad when all the big and lush trees were cut down along Jalan Genting Kelang for uninnovative town planning move to widen the road, and so that crony get a share of supplying and replanting of trees.

Lynas toxic project approved and granted “temporary” operating license (!)

I like the comment made by one person: “MALAYSIA TONG SAMPAH AUSTRALIA”

Shame on all the cowardly bureaucrats who succumbed to pressure from greedy and socially irresponsible politicians and approved the project.
You are all morally responsible for the damage to the health and welfare of the
hundreds of thousands of innocent people that will result from your TOTAL LACK OF SPINE and your GREED and SOCIAL IRRESPONSIBILITY!

    Prof Phua
According to news report, NYT mentioned that a key contractor has pulled out of Lynas plant because of safety concern.

    this is reported in TMI:
”A Dutch chemical firm refused to supply crucial resins for Lynas Corp’s controversial RM2.5 billion rare earth plant in Kuantan due to safety concerns, according to the New York Times.

The influential newspaper cited engineers working for the Australian miner at the Gebeng industrial zone site and internal company e-mails as saying that AkzoNobel withdrew after it was told that the fibreglass liners using its resin would be installed in concrete-walled tanks that have a problem with rising dampness in the floors and cracks in the walls.”

Why on earth they still want to carry on defies common sense.

    Feb 02, 2012 @ 10:46:12

Antares, in his blog “Magick River”, published photos of the Lynas construction site
in a flooded state during the last monsoon.

The “temporary storage facility” being built was also flooded.

Floods will spread all the waste material (toxic and non-toxic) over the entire area.
The material (thorium, uranium, stong acids used in rare earth extraction) will also get into the South China Sea via the flood waters and Balok River. Our neighbouring countries may also be affected !

Perkasa is an off-shoot of UMNO. All the people in Perkasa are also related to Umno.
How can the No.1 say that he doesn’t know about Perkasa’s activities, plans and actions. He washes his hands in this matter. But this leaves many faces red with anger and disgust.

Nonchalantly, the No. 1 walked around with his wife in tour, during the CNY ‘Yee Sang’ tossing sessions, in attires so red that they look like walking ‘ang pows’. So reflective of the festivities around them, the No.1 and his FLady had to follow the norms and practices of the Chinese and dressed as brightly as possible. They too want luck, love and prosperity.

But the Perkasa’s ‘White Swan’ purposely chose to go against the tradition of the Chinese, and dish out ‘pak kam’ to the Chinese old folks. This is a dastard malicious act of his part and he needs to apologise.

Talking about 1Malaysia. Ibrahim Ali is color blind in this respect.

    Feb 02, 2012 @ 14:28:00

I agree with Phua the white envelopes could be a genuine mistake and ignorance of Perkasa. It may be an oversight that nobody thought to bring ang pow packets so they just popped into any stationery shop and got white envelopes not knowing the negative connotation to the Chinese. However it doesn’t make it any less disgusting.

Perkasa is really too stupid to think up this cunning insult. It is beyond them!

Operating license was granted to Lynas without any long term plans for a permanent disposal facility. I don’t think this is a priority to Lynas now. They will only be here for 20 years and the radioactive waste will be Malaysia’s problem. Even the temporary storage facilities are sub-standard as the NYT article shows.

Although the radioactivity is low level there will be a huge amount of waste piled in one spot so the total radioactivity will not be low. The radiation is alpha particles with half lives of thousands of years. Alpha particles are not dangerous outside the body as they cannot penetrate the skin but once ingested they can cause damage to internal organs.

With floods, sub-standard containers and lax enforcement the radioactive waste may enter our food chain. The people around the plant will be the first to be affected.

The safest place to set up this plant would be the Great Australian Desert. Why transport the waste all the way to Malaysia to process and in populated areas too?

A first-time visitor from England had gone into a friend’s home with his shoes on. We quietly informed him of our culture of taking shoes off before entering and he immediately stepped outside to remove them before profusely apologising to the host for his ignorance,
And here we have a so-called ‘champion for the race’ political leader standing by grinning from ear to ear watching his racist-master dishing out the offending white angpows. Could he be too preoccupied thinking about the reward his master would be giving him for bringing in the poor elderly folks? He pleads ignorance!!
Why, was the red of angpows taboo? Why take the trouble to look for ‘angpows’ when red angpows were so readily available foc from so many retail businesses?

Malaysiakini front page – “Tiew: Ibrahim Ali did it on purpose”

Of course we all knew that, needs no rocket science, the whole world knows that too. Why didn’t that racist Ibrahim Taliban use ‘green packets’ instead, for goodwill if at all he was sincere about promoting inter-racial relationship!

And why did it take MCA’s Colin Tiew 3 days to come out with an apology? Obviously he was having it so good taking charge of ‘rent-a-crowd’ ferrying those senior citizens for that racist’s CNY Open-House, typical Umno/BN style, until some bloggers and netizens exposed his involvement?

Stop the sandiwara Colin Tiew, you will go down in history to have put the final nail into MCA’s coffin!

Do not blame Parkasa. Blame it on the greed of the Chinese. This weakness of the Malaysian Chinese, had been fully exploited by these people. Parkasa wants to show everyone in malaysia that the Chiese can throw away their self respect when they see money. It is s simple and effective high light. The Chinese has a lot of soul searching to do.
