Update at 2pm Confirmed that Teresa Kok was released. This is from Malaysiakini:
DAP Seputeh MP Teresa Kok was released at 1pm today, after being held under the Internal Security Act for a week, revealed her lawyer Sankara Nair.
At press time, she was at the Jalan Travers police station waiting for her release documents to be processed, he told Malaysiakini.
Teresa walked out from the police station at 1.40pm along with Sankara and her personal aide, Mandy Ooi.
She will be holding a press conference at 3.30pm at the DAP headquarters in Petaling Jaya.
Minutes after the 43-year-old IT-savvy and affable politician did on her release was to update her social networking Facebook account.
She posted a Facebook entry at 1.35pm that “Teresa sings ‘Honey, I’m home, I’ve had a hard day, pour me a cold one da da da…”, which immediately attracted comments welcoming her release.
There is however, no news of RPK.
Hopefully RPK will be released soon.

If the release of Teresa Kok is true, then we should be happy that the Government is listening to the voice of the people and they are also examining their mistakes.
Let all the opposition people be calm in their rejoicing without any insulting remarks.
Show a moral example for the ruling party to have the trust and respect for what you all are fighting in a compromising and peaceful action rather than a rough confrontation. That is the right way of a matured party.

ISA is not even fit for animal, what more for human.

This is an effort of all, including Pakatan and some BN politicians, to be fair.. people like Zaid Ibrahim whose resignation really rocked UMNO. They must have discussed it in UMNO supreme counsil yesterday along with succession plan. Pak Lah and Syed Hamid must have been told how unpopular these arrests were.
Now apply more pressure , to their MPs and every NGOs, write to the press, write in blogs , to pressure for release of RPK.

From what I read in Malaysia Today on the real story about 513, the so called Umno ‘Young Turks’ in collaboration of certain leaders betrayed Tunku Abdul Rahman that resulted in 513 and that event had forced our beloved Tunku to resign as Umno President and Prime Minister.
Perhaps what we was happening in the last two weeks a repetition of what happened to Tunku. Very likely this is the case since some news indicated Pak Lah doesn’t aware the use of ISA.
Come to think of these, Onn Jaafar, the grandfather of the keris waving Hishammudin, was right in suggesting Umno open its door for all other races which also resulting in his departure as Umno President.
If, Umno accepted suggestion of Onn Jaafar there and then, maybe the scenario of what we encounter now is totally different, but for sure, Malaysia will be a much better one than now.
One may be able to avoid man made laws, but definitely not Law of Karma.

Ever since Teresa Kok’s incarceration by the most draconian and unjust law of the land, her reputation as one of the most hard-working assemblywoman and her “no-nonsense, call a spade-a-spade approach to issues” will win her more votes in the future. She is very popular. She is destined for higher post and she deserves it. Hey guys, she is still single…I am delighted on hearing this news of her sudden release. As you said, to be fair to BN politicians also put in efforts which resulted in Teresa Kok release, but their efforts somehow were ‘overshadowed’ by the fact that they are still in BN.

Refer to LimKitSiang’s blog, MCA ministers failed to bring up teresa Kok’s detention at the Cabinet meeting on Wed. despite calling for her release on Tuesday.
This shows that the MCA is good at talking but is a coward at taking real action. They only talk to give a show to the electorate.

The comment of Concerned Ma in Malaysian Insider as what I copied and pasted above in fact is very ‘real’ in our country.
We can see, while Umno is in chaotic situation, it still put their emphasis in the so-called ‘power transition’ which I found this as ‘total disregard’ its so-called partners in BN as well as Rakyat as a whole.
For Umno, their mentality is that Umno is government and government is Umno, that’s all, no arguement or whatsoever on that. Such attitude, to me, have caused them to ‘hold tight’ on their power at all cost, and at all expense, irregardless of Rakyat’s interest altogether.
In fact, the position of PM, please allow me to speak my mind, by way of ‘Referendum’ of all Rakyat of legal age, and not just the ‘head’ of political party that won the most parliamentary seats. I personally hope this dream of mine can be a reality while I am still ‘alive’ as Malaysian. If not, maybe our future generation.

Perhaps Umno should take a back seat and learn how to be an opposition in Federal Govt.
I am still of the view that a fresh GE is imminent to decide once and for all whether PR or BN has the mandate to form Federal Govt, while State Govt remains as status quo.
Assuming that PR forming Federal Govt, we will see how ‘fair’ will be this govt in term of fund allocation to various State Govt under PR and BN.

Like many others, I hope desperately that Anwar has the numbers although the signs point to a political bluff.
Still, we may not have to wait another 4-4.5 years if Umno implodes from within or the coalition breaks up.

Whether Teresa Kok was incarcerated for 1 week or 4 weeks, she should not have even been detained at all.
Thus, I see nothing to celebrate upon her release – other than correcting a wrong. The facts are already laid for all to see and the known provocateurs are still at large.
As for UMNO and the others in the BN, it will be interesting in future Malaysian politics if we have a two-party form – one which promotes a integrated multi-racial platform and the other with a divide-and-rule (hence non-integrated) platform.
I am sure that there are supporters of both.
And where will Gerakan fit in, if that is the case ?

yes, the arrest is totally wrong. Just a show of might and abuse of power. Teresa has never said anything or done anything to threaten anyone.
I also canot answer your question of where Gerakan fits into all these, except to say that Gerakan has always been an misfit , a square peg in a round hole, in BN. Except certain people hijack the ideology and force a square peg into a round hole, and thus the square peg is not functioning at all.
I really feel ashamed when people asked me why gerakan is not doing anything and why Gerakan cannot be push UMNO to discipline someone who called a section of Malaysians Jews and so on…The punishment given out is not a punishment at all.
How do these people face their conscience? or thei children? I really cannot answer.
