Time Mag on Anwar trial

Will Sodomy Charges End Malaysia’s Opposition?

BARADAN KUPPUSAMY / KUALA LUMPUR

On Tuesday, Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, a little more than a decade after he was arrested, beaten and jailed on sodomy charges, walked into a Kuala Lumpur courtroom to face the same charges once again. In August, the government charged the politician with sodomy for the second time in his career, in this case, with a 23-year-old former aide, Saiful Bukhari Azlan. Under Malaysian law, consensual sodomy or sex acts “against the order of nature,” as it is described in the law here, is punishable with up to 20 years in jail.

“I don’t believe in this charge at all,” Aziz Maanan, a 36-year-old food vendor, says as he prepares double-layered, toasted roti at a night market in Kuala Lumpur. “They are all afraid of [Anwar] because if he wins and becomes Prime Minister, they will all end up in jail.”

Whatever the word on the street in the Malaysian capital may be, the government denies any political motivation for the charges, saying Anwar committed a crime and must face criminal trial. Saiful, who was taken into protective police custody after he first made the allegation on June 26, 2008, has not been charged in the alleged act, and has written on his blog that he can’t wait to confront Anwar in court. “I have waited for justice and hope to finally get it,” he wrote in a recent posting.

Anwar, for his part, has always maintained his innocence. “It is a sad day for the country. Let’s hope justice will prevail,” Anwar said as he entered the packed courtroom on Tuesday morning with his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and key political allies, including the venerated Muslim cleric Nik Aziz Nik Mat. In January, Anwar took his case to the people, holding rallies around the country where he claimed that the new sodomy charges had been trumped up to stop him from running for Prime Minister in the upcoming general election, an accusation the government denies. Though plenty of constituents like Aziz Maanan support him, the reception Anwar got from Muslim-majority Malays was not so warm. Anwar steadfastly supports a Dec. 31 court ruling that Christians can legally use the word Allah to refer to their own God. The aftermath of the ruling saw at least 11 churches and several mosques attacked and desecrated.

This shameful trial will be Najib’s Waterloo, irrespective whether Anwar is found guilty or not. To deny the government’s political motivation for the charges is to deny the obvious. Does Najib’s record show him to be a man obsessed with justice being served when a crime is alleged to have been committed? A man with many skeletons to hide had better keep his own closet shut tight.

Every unbiased voter sees that while the country continues to flounder, a political charade is being played out to no good end. Which thinking man believes the government on this? What or whose purpose does it serve? Are there not many violent criminal acts in this country that are more deserving of public prosecution?

    Sodomy2 is a sick joke on 1Malaysia.

Dr Hsu, can the semens stayed inside Saifool arse for over 48 hours and still detectable ? Will it still be there after he’d shit and wash as the common pratice for them ?

Furthermore, it was make known that this Saifool was a uni drop out and got to meet the ” master ” for scholarship, denied earlier of the meeting but later confirmed that it was purely on educational ground. Can a uni drop out be granted scholarship for another course ? Maybe Saifool was thinking of inter-versity course or so do me course !!! Thus, in every sense of our modern day living in Malaysia, politics will be part and parcel of life whether we want it or not.

The question that comes to my mind is, how did this brilliant, crafty and sterling politician fall for it twice? How did he get into such situations? A soap opera director would have trouble imagining this sequel. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?

While Anwar is facing sodomy charges, BN is busy handing out goodies to voters in Perak. Are we expecting a fresh election in Perak? Perhaps Chang Ko Young and Veerasamy could tell the Sungai Siput
constituent’s voters while handing out goodies.

What kind of advisers are these two Pendatang guards of UMNO? They excel in corrupting the minds of voters rather than enacting laws for good governance and betterment of society in general.

1Malaysia only serves as wayang kulit storyline and cheap publicity stunt for Rais to showcase batik apparels. What say u, KTK?

A+S , consensual natural sex – no problem, not against law
A+S, non-consensual sex, natural or not, either one, guilty for rape.

A+S, consensual unnatural sex – no one complain, both guilty but not problem, though against law

A+S, consensual unnatural sex – S complains, got problem, against law, A guilty if proven, S guilty also, by right

So, if proven consensual unnatural sex – A+S guilty ….. cannot A guilty, S not guilty, right?

But, S claimed not consensual, so, under this weird law, both A+S not guilty even if proven unnatural sex happened. But, Sodomy I not like that.

Strictly, the charge against A is defective. The law itself is defective, yet …..

Sodomy Malaysia is famous now, hahaha

My Malay friend says, Melayu malu, BODOH

    A makan cili, S malu?
    S makan cili, A malu?

Saifool visited Tawalka first and the first doctor examined and found nothing inside the fool’s ass. No sperm and no evidence penetration as indicated in the first medical report of this first doctor.

This is from malaysiakini by Dennis Madden.

I refer to the Malaysiakini report Prosecutor: We have semen specimens.

To help the average Malaysian understand what will be going on in the second Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial, I offer the following biological facts:

    1. Contamination is the major problem associated with the collection of DNA samples for analysis.

    2. The rectal environment is quite antagonistic to material such as semen.

The bacteria and fermentation process that normally occur in the presence of a high-protein soluble substance like semen would be lead to its rapid breakdown.

Especially so when the samples were collected the following day

    3. There would be major DNA contamination from the host and from food waste in the rectum.

Plus the possibility that any DNA present would be partly or wholly broken down.

    4. The rectum is quite efficient at rapidly rejecting foreign materials

    5. Any intelligent man who was married to a doctor would be aware of the HIV risk from casual sex encounters and would be wearing a condom

So what’s this about a ‘semen sample’?

Dr. Hsu, this report in malaysiakini http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/123665

may be indicative of an internal struggle in Umno between the extremists and the moderates. Will Najib suffer Badawi’s fate?

I believe that we should have equal rights for all including our same-sex comrades. What’s done in private is between the 2 consenting adults and no one else nor the authorities should have the legal right to get involve. This is the issue at hand in which supporters of PR should grasp but i doubt PAS would ever agree to this. Remember that if we choose to deny one group a particular right, then don’t blame others for not supporting our own rights. It’s either justice for all or none.

As for fool me twice, shame on me – why on earth did anwar keep a ‘coffee boy’? More so one who is unqualified to be a political aide. Couldn’t he at least focus these few years so PR could gain the upper hand! If he wants to screw around, he should do that during his overseas trips. Even if nothing or just minor activities were performed between them both, having an unqualified ‘male model’ to serve your everyday cup of morning coffee should be detrimental to any politician.

General political advice:There are only 2 ways to defeat an incumbent – catch him with a dead girl or a live boy.
