By election in Selangor

Both coalitions have been expecting an by election in Ulu Selangor the past few months since the incumbent MP was very sick. He died last night paving the way for another by election 2 years after the 308 tsunami.

This by election will be keenly watched as this is a mixed seats with a significant Indian presence. While Malay makes up of 53.9%, slightly more than half, the Indians (with  19%) and the Chinese ( 26.7%) make up almost the other half.

While in 308, the seat was won by PR (with a wafer thin margin) because of the swing in the Indians votes, this time around, how the Indians will vote will again decide who win the seats.

The Malays are split with a probable advantage to UMNO now, while more Chinese than before will be voting the opposition. So the Indian votes will be crucial.

All eyes of the nation will be on this.

Perhaps those readers who stay around Serandah, KKB can enlighten us on this.

I just love by-election. Each by-election put the screw on BN another step. Each by-election extract another drop of truth, another concession from the govt. In this case, the Indians will be tested again. I hope they will not be disappointing.

This be election will probably give us a glimpse of how much support both coalitions have gained or lost in the past 2 years.

Dr. Hsu. MK’s view was based on comment by MIC. With the indians split in so many ways, who knows.
This election will tell the truth.

Good, the nation needs regular by-elections to keep the public politically tuned. Also there is a great need for the 3rd vote,i.e.town council elections. The 2 coalitions are constantly kept on their toes, hopefully the raakyat comes out the winner. Najib our “Santa Claus PM” will go all out to win this one. This seat is almost a mini west M’sia in racial composition.

I say BN gonna win as they will bulldoze into the area with lots of goodies and rural folks can easily be swayed to vote for BN as they will say its not the GE and so no difference in giving BN a win this round. However…PR should not give up hope but instead should entrust more workers to go down the streets or paths to give much needed info on how BN had misused our money and instead lined their pockets full while continue to milk us by ways of so many corruption cases and unfriendly laws.

Hindraf should stay away and if they do come in…thats shows they are nothing but lackeys of BN and will be sponsored (behind) by BN….

People of Hulu Selangor…WAKE UP and show BN you are not so easily cowed…give them you middle finger and ask them to get out or Hulu Selangor….PR has done so much within 2 years when compared with 50 years by BN.

BN do has the edge at the moment (no more Hindraf and most people have short memory). Sad to say, I am not confident of the 18% Indians to continue their support for PR. Better stop before I say something racist…

Hulu Selangor was and is a BN stronghold, note how BN won all the 3 assembly seats under the MP seat. PKR won the MP by a wafer thin margin because of the popularity of their candidate in that area.

In a by-election the odds are always stacked against PR due to BN’s powerful resources and being able to rain down goodies. For PKR to keep this seat will need a very strong candidate.

Some Indians in PKR has proposed that PKR fields Uthayakumar. This will be a sure 100% loss and a very humiliating one. The Chinese and Malays have no reason to vote for an Indian racist. Even the Indians are split 50-50 so even if 50% of the Indians vote for him he will get only 9.5% of the vote and lose his deposit. (You need 12.5% of the vote to keep your deposit).
