A palatial mansion and accountability

There following 2 photos are taken from the front and  3rd page respectively of the  Star today.

bungalow0707

bungalow0707 1

The bungalow shown in the photos is not in Beverly Hills, nor owned by some celebrity film stars. It is in Shah Alam , Malaysia.

IT is purportedly owned by a former MB who was a dentist before he became the MB in 2000. He was the MB until ousted in 308, for a period of 8 years.

The bungalow was said to cost RM24 million, according to the Star report.

He was born in 1965 according to Wikipedia.

Let us assume that he started  work as a dentist when he was 24 years old. That would be in year 1989 till 2000 , a total of 11 years.

Let us assume that he saved every penny . Let us also assume that after graduation he immediately worked as a private dentist. Let us assume that he earned RM 20,000 a month as a dentist (without having to slowly build up his clientele –a normal dentist may take years to reach that earnings, and sometimes may not achieve that level for his whole life– but let us be generous and assume that he was a very popular dentist right from the beginning).

In one year , he would have saved RM 240,000 and in 11 years he would have saved RM 2.64 million.

Let us assume that as MB, he earned about RM 30000 a month including all allowances. That would gave us a total of RM 2.88 million for the whole 8 eight years.. Which gave us a total earnings of RM 2.64 plus RM 2.88 =RM 5.52 million.

This is if he saved every single cent without having to buy food, clothings, pay for household expenses like electricity and water , petrol,  tax, children’s education and pocket money, health expenses for the whole family etc etc.

Let us also assume that he bought this house with a bank loan. Let us assume that he paid RM 4 million and get a bank loan of RM 20 million . Using the formula for loan calculation , at a interest rate of 10% annually and pay back period of 15 years, it would require a monthly instalments of 213,019.76 per month. ( 2 plus millions a year).

This blog is not going to make any assumption on where he gets the money to pay for this or service the loan payments.

In a free world, it is not a crime to own an expensive bungalow, as long as every cent can be accounted for.

SO , this blog would just like  the MB to clarify, as a public figure,  where he gets the money to buy this . If it is financed with loans, how is he going to pay for the loan?

As a public figure, he is answerable to us voters. As a former public servant, he is answerable to us taxpayers.

Maybe he has a rich father-in-law or a grand uncle who leave him a legacy. maybe he had a brother who made it big and gave him lots of money.. Maybe his family has  made investments with fantastic returns. Maybe this bungalow is not owned by him but lent to him by a generous friend.

Whichever way it is , we hope that he can come forward to tell us rakyat about this….

Update:

According to Malaysian Insider, the former MB was qouted to say that the bungalow cost about RM 3.5 millions.

Perhaps an estate agent or land appraiser can shed some light on this?

This former MB, as a one time dentist, reputedly charged RM1 million or more for helping solve the toothache problems of property developers while in office. Understandably, credit cards were not accepted for payment. Cash and equivalents only.

Will property developers in Selangor still with a good set of teeth please attest to his toothache problem solving skills? As for those property developers with missing teeth, we all know what happened! Ha! Serves you right for not wanting to pay RM1 million per tooth. Now the whole world knows you did not visit the dentist.

Malaysian Insider found the size of the land itself is 50,000 sq ft. So assuming what K. Toyol said is true that he bought the property(land & bungalow) at RM 3.5M, he’s paying just RM70/sq ft. Kanasai, can somebody please investigate how this fella can buy this property for so cheap. I’d start with MACC(if it is still relevant).

    Dr Hsu,

Property developers have very unique toothache problems that only a MB/dental specialist can remedy. Tell me how many MB-cum-dentist are there or has ever been in Malaysia? One and only one to date, I believe. He can charge the earth for his services, being the only ‘one’.

On a more serious note, it would be revealing how lavishly or humbly that enormous house is furnished. The final fine touches of luxury can be several times the cost of basic construction. The former MB should have allowed reporters into his as-yet-unoccupied house to rebut claims of its opulence. That he refused is damaging to no one but himself. Perhaps some clued in blogger will get hold of some photos. One thing for sure, there won’t be an open or house warming party…..

    I ask again,

“Can you name some of the “principled” politicians in BN?”

    or, I rephrase,

“Can you name some of the “corrupted” politicians in BN?”

    Dear Dr Hsu,

We have been having one expose after another that involve such big timers. What has always happened after that? NOTHING!. And our MACC has found all the time and commitment to investigate a Cow and Car case. What realistic hope has a good Malaysian citizen have on these government institutions? How are we ever to even dream of solving such institutionalised corruptions, when one after another of the politically well connected corrupts gets away scot free, with their arrogance intact and a smirk on their faces?

This country may not just require a change of government to heal itself, it may take a revolution to do that!

During his tenure of 8 years, the PKFZ scandal blossomed. Deceased Zakaria (port klang palace) = Kuala Dimensi = Azim Zabidi = Toyo = Rotten fishead = Tiong = MCA = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Can’t you see the link? If you cannot, neither can the MACC. But the voters at Manek Urai will.

developer friends or foes? as property developers of sizeable tract of land…are required to go through no less then 18 departments after all the running around n be nice..the final count down stay at land and mines dept and planning dept…these 2 dept are the most 2nd powerful hurdles to clear then to standing committee..headed by the chief minister.
sizeable tract of land exceeding 200 acres not in so prime area of those in between 3 acres and above in prime areas..esp for commercial development..developers need alot of greasing esp on reduction of car parks..the less car parks..the more land area we can sell…
the chief minister is super power on many land laws and land use.

to make thing work faster and maximixe of land use…deals are made ..either one lump sum or free units of his choices are allocated.

just work this..just caculateon an average of 5 land approvals he collect say 3 mil each..one year..he get 180mill?
all these are no secret among h d a boys..within itself there are self appointed runners…!
land grap are common..when one had dealt with the local powerful district officiers..u be told, tak ada tanah lagi…!

in fact many were allocated for local political warlords they work hand in hand..! want some evidence?

It took me some tough years to finally settle my housing loan of just RM150k and that too with help from my EPF. I really cant see any way Kinzir Toyo can pay off his loan. Wonder if IRB will investigate his SUPER income from his business and detal clinic just abt 1 1/2 years since 308. Then again…this house was aquired while he was still MB.

I hope HSBC should reevaluate his income as he came out with many conflicting points on his income and the actual cost of his house.

    Really sucks……

A thought emerged from my mind with the passing of the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson.

The popularity of Michael Jackson is spread all over the world. It transients modern day civilization irrespective of who you are, what’s your culture, your race, your nationality and your religion. We don’t even care of he is black or white, live as a Christian or died as a Muslim. What matter most to all of us is his music, his song, his dance and his contribution to the world.

Can our politicians, or for that matter, politician of all countries in the world be like Micheal Jackson in this regard?

Why day-in day-out we still see fighting over dead bodies by Islamic authority? We don’t even see this happening to the body of Micheal Jackson but people of all background and colour mourn the passing of him, irrespective of what his belief and religion.

Come to think of this, wouldn’t it be better for us without politician but entertainer to rule the country?

Can our politicians make themselves entertainers? I am sick of their antics.

Michael Jackson’s mansion is much bigger than Khir Toyo, but we don’t see Michael Jackson as corrupted. Why?

Like millions all over the world, I was glued to my TVs last night and watched the memorial for MJ till 3plus am this morning.

He was the greatest entertainer. He broke the colour barriers. He was the entertainer that donated the most to humanity for charity. He was also the most talented, able to compose , sing, and dance.

The tribute paid to him showed us the human side of him that we all did not know. He like many kids and adults all over the world, loved to eat KFC, what about that!

He was soft hearted and kind hearted as those who were near him told one moving story after another.

He deserves to have a mansion much bigger than the MB I mentioned above, who is no where near to MJ…ONe likes to give, the other likes to take, what a great difference..

    Dr. Hsu,

Let history judge Michael Jackson. To me, these pop kings are greater than people like Alexander the Great, Napolean, and so on, who did not go to wars, killing people and destroying property. In fact, this “King of Pop” is greater than many “King of Monarchy”. King of a monarchy only great or known to his or her own people, but this King of Pop is well known world wide.

His songs like “We are the world” and “Heal the world” are indeed messages of peace to the people of the world, forget about our colours, forget about religions but strive for ultimate peacefulness.

Come to think of this, is religion so important?

I heard Khir Toyol went to ask Najib for support in this case. Seemed Khir Toyol was told to settle it himself. Sounds like UMNO is not backing him.

Khir Toyol is dead meat now. Start to put pressure on him. One going down and more to go.

Could’nt happen to a more nasty guy. This fellow is the pits. Might forgive him a little if he turns his mansion into a Michael Jackson memorial home. Will forgive him a lot if he converts it into an abandoned children shelter or an orphanage for 30 years and continue to service his bank loan in the interim.

Dr. Hsu, like you and many, when I heard from magic Johnson that MJ ate KFC chicken for dinner, it struck me how ordinary he was. Even with all the money he had, he still love the simple things in life. What a beautiful story!

This morning, I read that another Umno chief, Palil is suing several people for naming him in the PKFZ scandal. He was the head of the agriculture Coop which bought the land cheap cheap from the state government. he then sold it to Kuala Dimensi. Luckily for him, he was also a director of the PKA. And obviously he married all these 3 together so that there a win-win-win deal. But he forgotten to declare his interests in PKA minutes. I hope the IRD checks his returns and I bet his home is even bigger than Istana Zakaria.

The party does not belong to a single person. Just like the country does not belong to a single person. So to me, it means nothing that someone is head of a party. I criticise when i need to. If the head of the country is no good, do you just pack and go overseas ad stay? You still stay back and fight, but fight with constitutional means… If the party leadership is no good, it is up to ordinary memebrs to do something. to fight and change and not just quit. Unfortunately, you can do that only once in 3 years in term of party.
