Dear fellow Malaysians in Sarawak,
Many of you are now starting to go to the polling stations to cast your votes. Some of you may even have voted.
Your vote is sacred. But before you cast your vote, think carefully.
Not just for yourself. Think of your future and your children’s future.
Think about why with so much natural resources ( black gold and timber), and relatively small population, you should be enjoying one of the highest standards of livings. Instead, your state is still behind in so many areas.
There are so many issues in your State. You must have heard about this over the last 10 days. I am not going to bother you again with all these.
I am just asking you to consider carefully about one thing. Do you want a government that is dominant and arrogant ; a government that is so strong that their wish becomes your command? If you want that, you vote for BN.
Do you want a government that is balanced by a strong opposition and hence would be afraid of losing popular support; a government which will therefore be more humble and listen to the ground; a government that your wish is their command? If you want that, you vote for the opposition.
As I see it, there is no fear of the existing government losing power. You dont have to worry for that. You just have to think whether you want a better check and balance, or you want status quo? A simple choice, but think wisely.
In areas where there are more than 2 candidates, do not waste your vote casting for minor party or independents. They are there just to split votes. In these areas, again you must consider whether you want a better checking system or you want to issue a blank checque for the power that be? If you want the former, concentrate your votes for the bigger opposition party and do not waste your vote. If you want the latter, you know what to do.
The choice is simple. But what you do today will have great impact on the whole nation. Just take an example, the recent Bible issue. Do you think that the bibles would be released if not for your state election? if not for the fact that the power that be is afraid of losing a lot of Christian votes?
That is the power of democracy. Because you are the ultimate boss. You decide.
Think whether you are better off now than 10 years ago. Think about what will happen in 10 years’ time. You are an intelligent being, and you know how to cast your vote. But before doing so, just think about what I have mentioned above.
My best wishes are with all of you, and whatever you decide , whatever your wish is, I respect your choice.

What u write is true and no one can dispute that but if only Chinese are willing to change and the rest of the 29 ethnic groups still intact, Chinese will not have representative in the gov and at the end Chinese will suffer!
Unless the Dayak also vote for change, Melayu melanau won’t i believe. The number of opposition seat will increase and that for sure but unless it reach 24 or 2/3, not much effect on BN. Let’s wait and see the result tonight.

Actually in 2006, the chinese votes already shifted to DAP, that’s before 308 tsunami! and i believe the shift will be completed today. Just think rationally, if the rest of Malaysia is still with BN, won’t you think chinese will be sideline even more than before. All the remaining 5 chinese mayors and all the state ministers post – how many will remain?
But i believe everyone has made up their mind and some already have long before this election. But i just have this to say, everything come in a package and everything has it consequences.
Anyway wait till tonight and everything will be clear who is on whose side.

Representation, representation, nothing but representation.
This is the mentality of those in BN, they think the government is belongs to a single race and other races need to be represented in the government to safeguard the respective race interests. Why can’t you guys have a paradigm shift where the government is belongs to all Malaysian, not by whichever race, and those in the government are expected to be fair and equitable to all Malaysian, even if none of the race is represented?
So, what we are looking at is not ‘representation’ politics and thus far, Pakatan Rakyat is gearing to have a government not identified by specific races, but by Malaysian.
Sarawakian, you know what to do. We don’t need racists to represent us.

The kind of ‘representation’ that we have now is like ‘anak patung’. Just to show how graceful the big brother is in ‘power sharing’. Even the school syllabus and functioning are indoctrinating our young ones to believe superior of a specific race, while other races are inferior. Interloks is a good example.
50 plus years ‘sudah cukup’, enough is enough. Sarawakian, we share the same hope, don’t disappoint us.

Very true what you commented. What RPK analyses in his Aussie lectures are very true. Umno’s seats in Parliament is only 1/3 (correct me if I am wrong here). If not because of these ‘anak patung’, Umno can never be the back bone of the government. NEP, Ketuanan Melayu, quotas for public universities, licensing requirement and etc, can never be there. RPK is right, the nons are to be blamed for what we have now.
In stronger words, these ‘anak patung’ are the traitors of the nons. I think ‘anak patung’ is a better description to these ‘representatives’ than ‘eunuch’ made famous by Dr. Hsu, simply because eunuches at least have some conscience left in them instead of totally living corpses like ‘anak patung’.

Only one chinese leader left! SUPP can be say is as good as finish! Melayu melanau votes increase even more. Slight shift in certain areas in Iban votes but not significant except for an independent and Krian. Bible issue not really affected so much or maybe they accepted the 10 points well.
Now the question is what’s there now for chinese in sarawak – better or worse after this? with no representation in the state gov, will it affect them?
My feeling is, they will lose out even the more but the fact PR can’t get enough votes from the dayak and melayu melanau, means you can’t change the gov. Anyway, just wait and see what waiting for them…

As I see it in the case of West Malaysia, Pakatan Rakyat has already won the hearts and minds of 80% of the Malaysian Chinese (and should forget about the 20% of the Malaysian Chinese who benefit financially from the corrupt system and are willing to put up with insults and also participate in their own oppression).
Pakatan Rakyat has also won 50% of the Malaysian Malays (especially the educated middle class who are sick of corruption). The battle is for the next 20% or so. PR should forget about the other 30% who are corrupt, racists/fascists, ultranationalists etc.
Similarly in the case of the Malaysian Indians.
I don’t know enough about East Malaysian politics to comment (but it certainly looks like DAP is making inroads amongst the Malaysian Chinese of East Malaysia).
My point is that: it is a waste of time trying to win over Malay racists/fascists and a waste of time trying to win over the corrupt (of all ethnic groups). PR should focus on winning over those who have been fooled all these years (by UMNO/BN propaganda) — especially those in rural areas.
P.S. One of my Malay neighbours votes DAP.

Dear Dr Hsu,
its awkward for me to read your article which begins as “Dear fellow Malaysian in Sarawak…”. It sound distance, as if addressing someone from another country altogether. But this will be a chapter of its own.
The fact that BN barely made it over 2/3 victory in Sarawak State election shows “a change is gonna come”, (pun intended) , single by Sam Cooke. The Government has gambled too much and slowly losing ground vital to their superiority. If this continues, by the time next General Election come by, their ship “gonna sink”.
Reminds me of those classic World War II strategy, Dont Fight On 2 Fronts If You Cant Follow Through. Look what happen to the Nazi. Still, i wonder, if BN have other strategy to compensate their defeat. Probably a “Strategic Retreat”? Once that critical point is achieved, that tipped the balance, come Hell or any reason that matter, they cant fix this mess they are in.
Presently, a few debate goes on, first regarding loyalty. The notion that the arrogance of BN as far as having mentioned that, “Without BN, Sarawak is nothing”. This stir a lot of commotion. Sarawak has always maintained a “conservative” approach to matter of that politics. In a way, gangster are a necessary evil required to garner strong point, just as feudal Middle Age warring state but loyal to one king. However, the breaking point is here. The grasp of triad in Sarawak politics are loosen by Ops Cantas Kenyalang, which ultimately leads to lack of control by certain politician. Without master, a power vacuum leads to a great divide, hence Sarawak internal “bickering”, (rather toned down but nonetheless involved political liquidation and commerce espionage).
Second, there goes for those Secessionist. They always believed that their logs and black gold et cetera should have been used for greater good of the populace. And Petronas Tower should be in Kuching. A liberated Sarawak. More autonomy and other thoughts which lead their discussion. Alright, lets give Sarawak freedom right here, right now. Question is, are they ready? What are they going to do with their freedom? How are they going to manage their administration and the like? Some suggest a scheduled and phased directive to that end. But still, an armed revolt, with Federal troops stationed in the thousands in Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Bintulu and Miri, thats suicide.
The problem lay in the State power broker. They are just busy taking out each other that they forgot what they are supposed to do. That the mentality of Sarawakian are rather laid back and flow with the current. The next goal is to convince the rural folk. Though distance, which require a monumental effort of logistic nightmare, they must be won heart and mind for change. Kuching has been won, Sibu too and so was Miri. A Pincer Movement. Soon Sarawak would engulfed in its own civil war. Unless, that change is swift and decisive.
The current situation is that the Chinese are against the Dayak. Both have common aspiration but different goal. The Chinese require a handicap for their trade and commerce, licenses, quota, etc. The Dayak are lagging in terms of education, utilities and the like. SUPP has been neutered ever since they gave up their Communist cause. A few veteran still, in Meradong, Sarikei and Sibu moan “de old grande days..” because the Party puts material wealth first before the people. Thats why the Chinese are looking to a different direction. The Party commiserate huddled against BN for support, the fact they are betrayed. As for the Dayak, they still support the Party in which they still believe in. Kind of a Last Stand effort but that will not get them anywhere. They will never recover from the fall of their dignity and pride. Enslaved to this sort of vicious cycle, to contend within the boundary of working class.
The Government tried to calm the crowd by enlisting more Sarawak & Sabah for tertiary education. To let the heat of their back, but its too late. The natural resources of this land has long been plundered and monopolise by certain family or clan.
Which goes to the matter that, Sarawak people has lose its fight. The 20 Point made in 1963 was violated and altered to suit the taste of its Neo-Colonial master. Prior to 1963, there is no country of Federation of Malaysia. By default, the union of Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore (the latter opt out in 1965) created this agnostic and bloated country of scumbag politician. For once, review any politician that contest without family connection, office interest, personal gain etc. Nothing has really been done for the people unconditionally unless there is something to it.
In language term, in Arabic, the word ALLAH means God. Why cant the Malay accept that? Why must Christian be persecuted? Even in Middle East and certain projects of South Africa, there are Malay Christian. Even the Lord’s Prayer exist in Arabic, not to mention that Middle East Christian are bilingual in Hebrew and Arabic. The Malay of this country must not be proud of the knowledge they have at hand. There are more to it in this world. Even Malay Muslim in Sarawak have the freedom to convert to other religion, unintervened from the Peninsula, because of the 20 point.
And yes, English is still our official language, widely spoken among middle class and the upper class. Chinese, no matter educated in mission school or private Chinese board, effortlessly convene in English. The Malay in Sarawak sees no issue in matter of this, so long that their culture and whatever are not amended. Even Malay ate in Chinese stall. Whats the big deal?
There are a certain ultra nationalist organisation who seek for a secession move. They have always prepared for an aggressive stance. Bet that Communist ideal still live on, eh? Through contact of mine, i fear that an extreme act of secession is dangerous. They are those who prefer, for the sake of wealth and power, be within the domain of Malaysia.
Great things will happen, led by a great change. An angry populace would lead to internal strife. The new generation of Sarawakian are no longer as liberal and shared a greater tolerance as the old days. Our women are hoodwinked and treated as common whore. Tactics involve as in denying Sarawakian serving on home ground, increasing the influx of Federal educator into Sarawak education system, reducing Immigration Officer from Sarawak intake and the lot. Peninsula has a lot to offer but that offer brings lethal changes to the delicate balance and acceptance here.
Anarchy is not possible because the days of Rajah has always embedded into memories of the Sarawak. Land of the Headhunter, Home of the Hornbill. But now the headhunter have to work as farmer, at supermarket and as security guard. And the Great Hornbill is less than a hundred in the wild.
For crying out loud, it was obvious that Chinese dude was thrown out of MACC tower and that Malay dude too. But impractical as we have always been in Malaysia, to open a lengthy investigative paper and beating around the bush. And the expected answer would either be another scapegoat (s) or an inconclusive finding.

I wish the rural people of Sarawak all the best. They supported this pek moh. Now that he is back in power, he will be more daring and blatant with his screw up of Sarawak. There is nothing more for him to loose. He and his bomoh, son-in-laws, brothers-in-laws will be more outrageous in the looting.
These people deserve what they will get. They deserve to be plundered.
As for the rest of the Sarawakians – get out of that place. Go to Singapore, Australia, wherever.

I agree with CSL that SUPP should not accept any cabinet post since chinese clearly want DAP to represent them, so let DAP solve all chinese problems in Sarawak.
I also would like to see DAP go after PBB in a straight fight in next election to dethrone BN. Maybe Wong Ho Leng should go after CM, whoever he may be since DAP is also a multiracial party. I believe DAP should be brave enough to take up the challenge since they already have 80% of chinese votes in Malaysia and its time to venture into other races!

if i were to tell u that my dad get no financial gain as Gerakan members and grassroot leader helping Bn for 30 years and i for the last 3 years writing hundred of comments and yet to receive a single cent, would you believe? You trusted Dr. hsu and that why i ask him to clarify your perception.
I pay the same tax rate like you, my children get the same benefit as yours, i pay the same price for petrol, food, assessment rate etc etc as all DAP supporters!!! your baseless accusation is what you should look into!!!

The chinese sopport for BN, i believe after sat is just between 10-20%. Malays, if Pr can still command 50-70%, they won’t lose with increase majorities to BN the last few by elections which are all malays majorities areas.
I would strong promote CSL idea that not only SUPP but also of all BN chinese ministers to step down to make a point as they have lost the chinese support – like in Japan. I think chinese voters had rejected them and now they should go to DAP reps for help. PR command 2 richest states in Malaysia and LGE should help the chinese now and not BN gov in giving scholarship and aids etc. I believe that what the chinese wanted. SUPP already make it clear and should made it a reality. All chinese based BN component parties should seriously consider this to prove that they are there because voters wanted them to be there and not ‘hang on’ and be despised when they are not wanted!!! let DAP help the chinese since chinese wanted that. Anyway i believe, whatever MCA, gerakan, SUPP and LDP do won’t change the chinese voters mind.
Would you guys agree with me??? I think that is logical. Is not logical to take the money from Bn and voter for DAP as it is not logical to be paid and employ by a company and speak or goes against that company. No such thing in the world. This can also clear the perception that they are corrupt and greedy.

Simply can’t engage in sensible debate with this super wise guy – the future of Gelakan. Kindly be reminded that PR did garnered >50% votes but translated into only 37% of seats in peninsular at 308. Again, PR secured 37% popular votes in Sarawak election now but only translated to 21% of seats. These are testimonies which wise man failed to comprehend in the context of absolute number of support vs absolute seats of representation. There is a great distortion of true representation. However, PR has to abide by the rule of the game.

All I can say is, learn from Dr Hsu and leave Gerakan. It is no longer the original Gerakan founded by Lim Chong Eu, Syed Hussein Alatas etc. It’s now the thoroughly corrupted and compromised, spineless Gerakan of Koh Tsu Koon and Lim Keng Yaik.
No, the DAP is a social democratic party (heard of the “Socialist International”?) and should represent the interests of all middle class and working class Malaysians. And it should push for affirmative action policies for all poor Malaysians.

It is no point to argue with people whose mind is highly ‘indoctrinated’ through prolonged stay in BN or by $$. We can check randomly on such kind of people how many of their sons and daugthers study in premier private schools locally and overseas. It is not an exaggerated we put the figure at 90% or even 100%. In fact, many of them are PR in overseas, enjoying the civilized environment. They are not a bit affected by the rotten conditions in their motherland. That is why they are so ‘wise’ with how they see Malaysia, and if I can borrow the words of RPK, you sim them in a river and pull them out, they will still say ‘BN’. They have too high a stake to lose if they are out of BN.
Put it this way, the prolonged biased policies like NEP, procurements and so on, especially during the regime of the grandfather have resulted in many of ‘them’, though ‘not-so-smart’, are occupying high positions in the government, business, GLC. The same thing, you sim them in a river and pull them out, they will still say ‘big brother’.
The resistent for them to hold on to power is very very strong all for their once selfish interests as what we saw in the recent Sarawak election. If the election is on level playing field, i.e. without postal votes and ‘high-handedness’, their 2/3 control of state assembly is gone by now if not the government.
To this person nicknamed ‘wisely’, please answer me a simple question. Even if there is none of the ‘nons’ represented in the government, why the government cannot be fair to the ‘nons’ and safeguarding their interests? Please don’t beat around the bush for your answer since you deemed yourself as ‘wisely’.
