The Eiffel Tower’s 20,000 sparkling bulbs went dark for five minutes Thursday night and the lights went out at the Collosseum in Rome and the Greek parliament in Athens in a demonstration of concern about climate change across the European continent.
This happened last night as a response to a report released by IPCC (intergovernment Panel on Climate Change) that global warming is real and is very likely “man-made”.
Many of us perhaps know all along that global warming is due to human activities, increased industrialisation, burnung of fossils fuels , deforestation. Now that experts all over the world have agreed that it is probably man-made, we hope that drastic measures can be taken to cut down the emission of CO2 and the research for alternative enegy can be hastened.
We are like the frog in the pot that I mentioned earlier, but now the frog has realised the danger, we hope that the frog will jump out of the pot before it is too late.
At least there is hope now!!
