Let a thousand ideas blossom !

Time really flies.

This is the 800 th post of this blog, after 2 years and 4 months of writing from someone who is just a very ordinary person, a small candle,  just like your Ah Pek next door.

Looking back at the 800 posts, there were  many which were also published in malaysiakini, MalaysianInsiders as well as listed under RPK’s MT. Some were quite well written, some were not, but all these represent my thinking and my beliefs.

I am not MM, nor CSL nor OTK nor Marina nor Jeff Ooi nor LKSiang nor RPK, . This blog can never be or aspired to be like theirs in popularity.

But whatever i have written is from my heart  . It may be naive to some, too straight talking to others, but as I have said before, I aim only to influence a few mindsets, and if i can achieve that , I would be contended.

Whether I have achieved that, it is not for me to judge. But certainly my readership has grown, from around 100 hits /day initially  to consistently over 4 figures daily now.   I have met students coming back from overseas telling me that they have read my writings.  Some doctor colleagues of my wife , who have not met me nor known my name,  recommended her to read  this blog.

There are times  when things seem so gloomy and  hopeless, I have flitting thoughts of giving up blogging. At those moments, i would ask myself what was I doing when the whole situation seemed so hopeless… To be frank, it took up an increasing portion of my time, and with a full time practice and my fairly heavy social activities, meetings and so on, it can be real tiring  and i am perpetually short of time…..But I have persisted; thanks to all the support and encouragements of blog readers and friends and comrades who had stood behind me all this while.

Change is what this world needs, what this country needs. Like I have said before, in one of my posts “climb the mountain, light the candle”,  to see the beautiful scenery on the other side of the mountain, we must climb to the top.  There are many different ways to do it, but all climbs are not easy and will be tortous and full of danger. Without climbing it, we will never be able to see the beautiful scenery on the other side;  without all of us trying, change will never come.

I hope more people will take up blogging. Nevermind if you have only 10 or 20 visitors.  If you can make them see your points, these few people will be the beginning of a multiplier effect. A small spark sometimes can result in a big fire.

To the young people out there, you are the hope of the future. Start voicing out, and try to influence your old older parents and their generations of relatives. Change is what we need, and change is what must come….And you can play a crucial part in that change..

To the older generations like my contemporaries, you can still contribute to this change by your vast experince in lives and impart  your young generations with your ideas of what is  right and what is wrong.

So please join the wagon and start bloggings, those of you out there…. Let a thousand flowers bloom, let a thousand ideas blossom. Let us have a free, just, democratic, progressive, liberal , tolerant, transparent  society where everyone is treated fair and equal.

    Dr Hsu.

Voices collective counts. The reversal of many govt decisions were due to voices of the people.

Remember the Reporter and Teresa Kok ISA cases. The pressure on Syed Hamid to release them came from Najib, Badawi, Ong Ka Ting etc. That was why the reversal.

    Collectively, we cannot be ignored.

Continue your writing. What you think you lack is more than compensated by your passion and sincerity.

    cheers

    Dr Hsu,

I chanced upon your blog last year through a link in JeffOoi’s Screenshot I think and I find your blog and reader’s comments rational and thoughtful with none of the expletives found in other political blogs. Congratulations on achieving 800 posts. May you hit 1000 very soon.

    Take care.

I came to this forum, because of someone. This someone left, I stuck. Hahaha.

I will fly away, anyway. I am just a nobody, an outsider.

Am I messing up your forum, Dr. Hsu? I think, to a certain extent, I am. Sorry for that.

Keep up your good work. Better still, pull out from Gerakan.

    Dr

I can’t see the point in talking politics. Certainly action speaks louder than words.

When one is in a clinic, the duty is to cure. When one is in a political party, the rationale is to act. No?

Regardless, i really enjoy you blog…..sometimes you speak nonsense though…but who doesn’t.

Good words overall + hope there will be many more 800s.

I am keeping quiet to keep laughing at someone’s busy body personality.
And as for latest post….what have I not read ..over and over again.
What’s happening in Perak are the wonderful smart loyal PR politicians..not easily cowed by anyone.
PR guys are doping everything…to represent the voters that put them in.
Having seen the events and out out this or that comments….by bloggers…one need to read…the reasons why and why not.
Instigating and fanning….is different from putting out straight to the point…no twisting and disguising.
Waiting for one foreign busy body to come back and entertain me further.
As much as I do not like Pohwathdog…we really do not need any foreigners to teach Malaysians.
I am tired to defend and get offended…even by one I defended….and given stupid labels to me.
I feel so useful defending Elizabeth Wong and was rewarded with praises.
Here… small fut teaching me how to eat chilpadi…..with the famous starting words…”He never learn….bla bla bla..”
So come back….foreign busybody….talk more and entertain me.

Hi Dr Hsu you may not be in the same league as MM or LKS. You are in a class of your own!

Always so refreshing, always so thought prodding. No crassness and brusqueness. Just clean but thought provoking ideas and opinions that flows from a good heart.

Yes Dr Hsu your blog is remarkable and definitely will endear readers to share their thoughts. Congratulations for the good work and God bless you and keep you.

Come back chilpadi….before Doc accuses me chasing his present… favorites commentator away.
I eat alot of chilipadi…the more pedas…the more SIOK!!! Do you know what is siok? It’s like having sex la.
One who does not know what is sotong…surely think chilipadi is sooooooo pedas…a punishment to whoever ..confronting the harvester…also nick name….chilipadi.
Year in year out…proclaiming victory over ….hhhmmm….yours trully…here I am….waiting for more chilipadi….so refreshing …a wake up call for my brain and body…to make love..work…so good.. so nice. No one fears eating more and more…..except the farmer…not trained to eat…yet want to grow it.
what a weird person he is.
Only a small boy…telling lies or utter foul language…….maybe punished by parents….rubbing chilipadi on to the mouth…for a lesson he will never forget.
Anyone using chilpadi to threaten Malaysians for a so call punishment…. is a clown…with limited knowledge of Malaysian power of pedas eating habits.
Yes….I love raw chilpadi with every spoon of porridge in the morning…in Indonesia.
And yes..Australia have the hottest chilpadi…which I doubt…this farmer knows.
Reading most of his messages are ideas copied from here and there…which few knew and keep playing with him,.
Running away….proves this chilipadi is not loyal and faithful commentator for this blog.
How ungrateful he can be…with Doc…declaring what a valuable commentator he is…running away.
    He actually..disturb and run away.
    That’s his mission.
    Right now..poor pohwatchdog….and few others.
    Come back…I love eating chilipadi.
Give me more!! Give me more. Give me more…..hahahahahahaha
    [Copied from movie….”Grease”}
    Make sure more pedas.
Malaysians are not afraid of chilipadi……you fool..nor need a foreign farmer to teach us pedas stuffs.

    Dear Dr Hsu,
Congrats on your milestone 800th post. You’ve given many of us food for thought. The world (let alone Malaysia) will certainly be a better place if only there are more people like you.

Please keep up the good work and always remember to maintain a good work and life balance.

    Dr Hsu,

The journey of a thousand mile begins with the first step and you have even taken it to 800 posts ! That itself proves beyond any doubts that you are capable to hold it on your own. There can be no comparison to others as to each it’s own and thank God for making us all different.

Do what you had set out to do and even if you can convince one cc member in gerakan to see things your way, you would have touch one life though. In this perilous political time, one need to be sane to be able to be above politics and to know that after the dust have settled, we are all still Malaysian. We will stay here to fight injustices and to leave this beloved land to our future generation with good governance. It may just be a dream but without it there is utter gloom and darkness over this land right now.

By far the Best site for political discussions. Keep up the good work doc. Always admire your intellect and discourse. Sure make my days more inetresting. Jeff Ooi, LKS, Chedet sites are too slanted. Also their readership are mostly loyalists. Whereas your blog do attract the critics and I enjoy reading their viewpoints.
