Questions, questions and questions!

1Malaysia email account?

Free?

Are you sure?

Is there such a thing as a free meal?

Will the 50millions come from the government? meaning the people’s coffer since government money is from the people.

Will it be better and more secure than yahoo, gmail, and hotmail where you can have almost unlimited storage space FREE? Of course these giants earn by advertisements and so on but at least to the end users, it is free.

Why give it to a company that is financially-trapped and on the brink of being delisted?

Why the need to create email account in the first place? Aren’t there other more pressing things to do? Like giving me a better broadband width at rate comparable to other countries?(read my article on ‘speed’ vs ‘speed’ here to see how Singapore broadband at 100Mpbs  is only 49.50 whereas ours at 20Mpbs at 249).

Just to digress, I went to Telekom a few times to apply for Unify 5MPbs, but they say my area does not support it.It will be a few more months down the road before I get it.  Please build the infrastructure first before giving me the DAMN email account!!!!

Sorry to lose my cool.

These are questions that we need answers.. Do not tell me like what other middlemen used to tell us when mandatory middleman companies are being set up to provide services which we can obtain directly.

…………………………………………………………………………..

Excerpts from my previous post:

It is about Singapore broadband service: 100Mbps at Singapore$49.80 (equals roughly to RM118)

Second one is our unifi service advertisement . 20Mbps at RM249.

There is a cheaper VIP 5 for RM149, for a speed of 5Mbps.

Malaysia Government have never stopped trying to impress people.
Reality is, no matter how hard you try to decorate a rotten meat it would not be appetizing.

    I agree, it’s ridiculous.

    Dear Dr Hsu

Desperate times call for desperate measures — a ruling regime
with eroding legitimacy, desperately trying to hang on to power through shameless propaganda (often of the race-baiting variety) and through hired
    (and very expensive, foreign) propagandists.

    Klm,
Had i remained, he would probably have called me and asked my opinion on this, as he knows that i am quite savvy in IT, and i actually feel the pulse of the IT and urban people..

And I would have laughed off at his suggestions, and told him to bring up more serious matters for the people. He would have said thank you and still continued this project of 1malaysia email account. And he would have told others that he had sought my opinion, and he had let me voiced out, but he would not agree with an idealist..

That would be the actual scenerio.

My 2 sens on this, beside the silliness of it.

I have worked 40 years with ICT and I have been pitched many things. This is amongst the top craps I have heard.

    1. Email service do not make money for anyone anymore
    2. It has a high cost to keep it running
    3. There is no appreciation if service is good but a lot of whining if service is bad
    4. But it is the glue to stick users to your service that is if that service or services is making money for you. In the case of Google, it is Adsense. So unless Tricubes has something up its sleeve, which I doubt, it is money burning as along as it is in operation.
    5. Unless Microsoft is willing to buy the users for hotmail, which I doubt. I suspect the Microsoft and Hotmail thing is red herring.

I still cannot figure out the business model for this proposal. Business model is no secret. It is not rocket science. It is just common sense. So why is Tricubes so secretive about it?

The 1Malaysia email is not about making money. It’s politics. Imagine flooding the email account holders with BN propaganda before a general election. A direct channel to the eyeballs of voters. What a coup for BN.

Najib is known to be brilliant…yet totally the opposite in matter of days.
His brilliant idea fall short of a proposal from a government… trusted by all.
In fact vast majority Malaysians from age 18 upwards..totally do not trust him at all.
So whatever he proposed or say how good it is for Malaysians…treat that as hot air and nonsense from him.

Kenny. One may have an email account, but one do not have to use it. I have email account with TM internet service. Since the advent of Gmail, I have never use it. So what use is this 1Malaysia email account. They can send all the propaganda they want, these will only clog the system. If the intention is to do this, it is even more stupid of them. BN will be better off, spamming TMnet’s email accounts. It will not cost 50M RM.

It all boils down to priorities.

Certainly some people up there must have blown it. The priority to serve the people and to address their needs has been brushed aside to make every citizen to be computer savvy. We will be lead by the computer into the IT world of unknown, propaganda, brain-washing, canards, calumnies, and finally virtual control by the pressing of the button.

Certainly, this is not a one cent project. We have been assured it that it does not involve tax money. But then who is funding this project and by whom? Is there a need for this initiative when there are so many pressing issues that country needs to address? When there are free email services like yahoomail, gmail, hotmail, etc. why the trouble, time and token to get this 1email online. Surely, there is an ulterior motive behind this move. And the answer is certainly are byting issue.

It’s ok if one is lesser intelligent than the other as sometime is not our choice (or within our control) to be less intelligent, but for a person who ‘deemed intelligent’ but actually ‘stupid’ is worse. There are full of such ‘deemed intelligent’ people in there coupled with their breach of political ‘TRUST’ (which is worse than criminal breach of trust).

The RM50 million project made to look a BN govt goodies with the Prime Minister proudly going on national tv/media to announce it, received instant public anger and recentment over its unnecessary spending of public funds. Interestingly the following day Najib quickly denied
there would be any involvement of public funds for the project. That’s how sneaky they can get!

Here we are being reminded so often that we the Rakyat needs to tighten our belt or be faced with the country going bankrupt by 2019(Idris Jala – Minister in PM Dept) which is 8 years away and there this UMNO-led BN government is spending money as if there’s no tomorrow, ahead of GE-13!

    Apr 21, 2011 @ 05:35:06

Dr Hsu, great question! Malaysia tends to carry out many projects which have little practical value like CyperJaya; except perhaps the money printing machine called North South High Way which is one of the highest toll public highway in the world. The internet bandwidth in Malaysia is pathetic, every time I travel to Malaysia because of my business and work, I experienced this huge drop in internet response time, and I still have to pay for the service which is an extremely frustrating experience. In other countries, I get what I paid in this service. Malaysia is such a blessed land with many good people, it is sad to see resources are not invested in projects which has practical economic value. Reducing the crime rate by 50% is a good place to start. Malaysia has such a great potential. What is missing?

The 4th floor boys and girls are actually very smart people and probably classmates of their counterparts in Singapore. The problem is that these people are young, inexperienced and need to be supervised. In Malaysia, they are left to run wild and had too much power by virtue of being near the source. This is when things start to go wrong. They start to do side deals and have personal agendas. So national interests get subverted by personal interests.

Yes, the fourth floor is full of young people with degrees from top universities. They may have very high IQ, but not EQ, which comes from experience. Then again, many of them may not have the morality that is so important in life. Easy money is before them. When you are young and you taste power as a young man, power will change you and with power comes abuses. With few experience in life, power corrupts easily, especially when you see all around you people who are not too saintly. You tend to imitate.

KJ is actually moderate with high IQ. But why he became such a nut when he was Youth Head? Because he is so near to absolute power , and at such young age, he plays politics to try to rise up to grab that absolute power.

the only cure for all these a more or less balance 2 party system– when you are corrupt , you will be voted out like Ah Bian of Taiwan.

As he was an Indian, he was put in charge of Indian affairs in the 4th floor. This young man had never been to the estates or to the ground at all. He got all his information from books, newspapers and magazines. Samy Vellu had to justify to him projects for the Indian community. This young man advised Badawi on Indian affairs.

    EPF – 18 million accounts – RM9 million
    LHDN – 15 million accounts – RM7.5 million
    TNB – 20 million accounts – RM10 million
    TM – 18 million accounts – RM9 million
    Others – 20 million accounts – RM10 million
Total revenue for Tricubes – RM45.5 million

Every crony worm in the government woodwork is busy trying to outdo each other with fabulous plans on how to flees Bank of Rakyat Malaysia.
What get’s reported like the annual maintenance costs of the unsinkable subs, the inflated MRT extension, the RM 6 Billion boats and now this RM 50 Million 1 Malaysia Boleh e-mail account are only some big ticket items. These cronies must have pulled Millions if not Billions more from smaller “projects” that gets hidden in the woodwork and even though the PAC or Auditor General raise this once a year, it its all for eyewash and stamped NFA.

Doc, What really frustrates me like any other diligent tax payer is the sheer waste and plundering of the Bank of Rakyat Malaysia (principal shareholders being Malaysian Tax payers & EPF members) for things like unsinkable subs to protect Malaysia from Singapore ?, Rolls Royces MRT that cost probably 10 times more than other similar projects and not focusing on the welfare of Rakyat e.g. better health services, more cost effective transport system and development projects to up-lift the quality on Malaysian lives. Some earlier commentators lament the lack of competitiveness of facilities and living standards compared with our neighbouring countries. Taxi permits and bus operators permits going to friends and family. Toll operation awarding to half dozen connected companies. Fortunately they introduce Touch&Go, otherwise every operator has they own prepaid cards. Different public parking operators for every township etc. etc. Shouldn’t such services be under the municipal councils to generate revenue to provide better services to the public ??? No, because every worm wants a share.

Why we have this feeling that Singapore offers a higher quality of life although the cost of living may be relatively higher and their lack of space. This is because the Malaysia Boleh agenda is not for the Rakyat but for the crooks and their cronies.
