What hypocrisy!

For internet users, and those who store or download certain files from file sharing sites, the government decision to block these sites comes as a shock.

There are no doubt that certain files stored in these sites are infringing copyright act, but to impose a blanket block of these sites is like using a sledgehammer to kill a fly.

Many people store their legitimate files on these sites. Even scientific files are stored and shared.

Sometimes, if a person wants to share a file with his uncle or brother or sister or friend overseas, it would be too tedious to send the file via email, if the file is big.

For example, yahoo allows  a person to send an email with a 20meg limit. To send  friends or relatives certain big files more than 20 meg, a person can upload and store the files in these file sharing sites and the intended person/s can then download it and view. Scientific files/medical files are stored for the same reason.

A person can post his wedding video on these sites for his classmates all over the world to view it. That is how file sharing sites function.

Those who use file sharing sites are not profiting from monetary gains, since most  downloads are free.

It is like you buy a harry Potter book from the bookstore and after finishing it, you lend it to someone else. It is perfectly legitimate, as long as you don’t make any monetary gains from it. You can also start a book club, and invite people to share books that they have bought by keeping these books in the library of the book club.

File sharing sites are like book clubs.

Furthermore, to ban it or block it is contrary to government promise not to censor internet.

I do not know about those policy makers. To us common people, a promise is a promise. To renege a guarantee made not to censor internet is a big slap to the integrity of the government.

To combat piracy, they can do better to go round closing those stores selling pirated dvds. These are  becoming ubiquitous, and just go to any shopping complex or pasar malam, you can see people selling pirated discs.

The government can do well to clean their own backyard first before trying to censor internet, as almost all these file sharing sites are hosted overseas, and users are from all over the world. When within our own backyards, there are still so much of rubbish, why bother to clean other people’s houses.

What hypocrisy!

…………………..

There re also many ways to bypass the block.. Read David Wang’s site.

The ban was made to prevent gov staff from downloading because the gov staff are the main culprit, they download stuff during work hour.

Censor these sites and not block youtube is like double standard, since youtube is also a file sharing sites.

No one is making any money by uploading video to youtube.

try censoring youtube, and Malaysia will become infamous in the world internet community.

I have a strange feeling DVD pirators are unable to sell their blue movies and as such..no income to thousands of policemen…from pirators that depended on blue movies to make money…and give monthly bribes for decades.
And they cannot just shut off one part of a site. It must be shutting off the entire site.
Where money is concerned….these corrupted racists have no brains.. no feelings at all.
Millions do not view sex shows….but they do not care. Shut off the site…and make sure pirators make lots of money to feed them….with their money income.
    This is my suspicions.

Many have stopped buying movies from pirators…because they can download all sorts of movies they want.

Doc….All talk no actions from Govt.
Googles ..YouTube….ready to sue Malaysian government is they dare to shut of their sites.
    DVD pirator days are numbered.
This should make Najib happy..but no…he feel svery sad and nervous..that thousand of policemen side incomes are affected.
Tha’s why his Donkey Kong….given more freedom to instigate and challenge Christains…and now BERSEH to fight to the death…..hoping Malaysians get very scared and must vote Najib in …out of no choice.
    Back to…internet…..nothing has changed.
If Najib is sincere and truthful….all he need to do is make appointments with Internet giant booses.. and ask them to help….banning all blue movies to Malaysia with so many good reasons…and surely those operators …will listen and try to help.

The blockings of those file sharing sites is the first step of more sinister things to come. What will come next? Clamp down? Crack down? Shut down? Looks like the govt is getting very afraid and paranoid….about the Eastern Jasmine Revolution!

With Internet flourishing….DVD pirators days are numbered….be it music….movies..or blue films.
This should make Najib very happy…that what the Govt cannot for for 55 years…to fight of piracy…Internet is doing the job for the Govt.
Where is the joy….to win over pirators?
And you can be sure…these pirators can survive doing other things.
UMNO B crooks cannot survive with out taking bribes….or win tenders which they know next to nothing…with huge overpriced projects….and huge underpriced ..”willing buyer ..willing seller” corrupted deals…like we are witnessing Toyo’s court case now.
Do not praise the witness that tuned coat against Toyo. He is as guilty as that Dentist.
But we may have a surprised conclusion by the Judge.
In Malaysia…court cases on corruptions depend how important these frogs are to Najib.
Just look at Tamy Chik…walking free under Mahathir and still free under Najib…because he goes to the villages and seems to win votes for UMNO B.
So if Toyo can bring in half a million votes for Najib…he will be set free for sure.
This is the kind of Justice we are having in Malaysia.

    Everything boils down to CORRUPTIONS.
When some are cut off from their usual side income…no more available…they will support PAS or keDAILan.
Some side incomes are cut off by Govt too…..for they have no money….to allow huge overpriced small tenders….yet most of these small tenders must go on …to keep the country going.
Those left put..are going to support PAS or keDAILan.
You see…UMNO B is corrupted to the core…and some are left out….how are they going to manage their bangalow … Merz and 3 mistresses?
Najib has released his Donkey Kong to create tension and trouble…as much as he can.
Don’t forget…this Donkey is supported by Mahathir…right now.
Internet…no problem. Go and do exactly like you have been doing.

As Dr. Hsu pointed out, these file sharing sites are used for many legitimate purposes. It is only incidental that some may use it for piracy. This is like banning knives because some people misuse knives for causing hurt. Even overseas, the copyright holders do not campaign for file sharing sites to be banned. If their copyrights have been violated they just complain to the site which will remove the illegal material.

Facism is built up slowly, through precedents that lead to further tyranny, as grinning idiots watch and nod:
    – Subsidies, tax breaks, give-aways and bailout-outs for too-big-to-fail capitalists.
    – Hosting dirty industries and buying expensive, dirty technology for personal gain at public cost.
    – Crushing independence and resistance represented by the middle class by raising the rate of joblessness and depressing wages – through legal and illegal immigrants, sectarian politics, technology, unsound trade.
    – Extorsion – legal and illegal.
    – Propaganda including the misuse of public facilities, and censorship.
    – Crushing criticism and the protection of law through state terror – arrest, kidnap, detention, illegal search/seizure/destruction of property.
    – Enforcement without the mask – torture (including whipping), private and public (“encounter”) execution, open warfare.

You think you’ve heard everything and can’t be shocked anymore but this is will give you another jolt. The Tourism Ministry spent RM1.76 million to create 6 facebook pages, each page costing RM293,000. Is this stupidity or barefaced corruption? Even my teenage son can create a good facebook page. If you want professional web coders I’m sure they won’t charge more than a couple of thousand ringgit to create a professional looking facebook page. Amazing! No wonder they have to cut subsidies to the rakyat. Thieves! Robbers!

    And…….
686 want to give up being Muslims as they do not be live in Allah nor Mohammad.
But the Syariah Court approved 138 applications.
    Can you believe it?
Where is the freedom of religion for Muslims?

In Indonesia…686 applied…all approved as they practise freedom of religion sincerely.
After that…to convince some to become Muslims again is another story.
UMNO B race and religion politics treat Malays and Muslims like suckers.

Breakdown given by Tourist Minister Ng Yen Yen for RM1.8 million fee for 6 facebook pages. My comments in brackets.

    1. Technical
    * Dedicated hardware deployment (No meaning. Server capacity is by facebook)
    * Software licencing (What software licensing? Flash is open source)
    * Front end applications (Front end application is facebook itself)
    * Application server engine (Server engine is by facebook)

    2. Development of six campaigns which require:
    * Flash games engine (open source by Adobe. No cost to programmer)
    * Flash programming and coding (Yes)
    * Creative development and design (Yes)
    * Campaigns ideas and concept (Yet to see anything worth the money paid out)
    * Front-end Flash design (pls don’t repeat)
    * Testing and debugging (integral part of every software design)

    3. Campaign promotions
    * Digital advertising campaigns on Google and Facebook (those 6 pages in facebook?)
    * Contest, page wall and tourism fanpage content management (What contest? Money already paid out. Fanpage content management should be by Tourism Ministry staff)
    * Collection and management of database (Just to inform the ministry how many likes for the facebook pages?)

As you can see her explanation is just technical gobblegook in an attempt to pull the wool over our eyes. There is nothing remotely worth RM1.8 million just to design and create those 6 facebook pages. There is nothing outstanding in their design anyway. In contrast the Penang govt spent nothing on their facebook page and it is maintained by one staff.
